Its been almost 2 hours, and yet the match hasnt started.

I can plan better than this. Absolutely dumb from the organizers.

Only 30 mins hua hai. The opening ceremony was on time. the match was always slated to start at 10:00 PST

Wasnt it suppose to start at 9 o clock pakistan time?

I was present at stadium. Clearing the front stage to clear the black screen was a tough work. they tried their best but they cannot remove the stage faster than that.

Why is anyone surprised?

Lest not forget the the recent NZ/Aus tour and the lack of clear planning by the PCB.

Making a mountain of a molehill.

The match was delayed by an hour

Mountain hole out of nothing? Really?

If this was a proper official match overs would had been cut off

So its now raining. Had the match started at time, we wouldnt be playing in this rain.

Now leta hope it doesnt get any stoppage

And now there is a delay.

Pcb ruined the opening match. By this time match would had been done and dusted if we stayed on original schdule

time keeping and planning isn't something that is ever really cared about and that annoys me no end.

Usually teams have 30 mins extra before overs are cut.

Here as the match started late a 5 minute shower has cut the match by 2 overs.

Pcb zindabad

Waseem akram pisssed off

It's 2:30 in the morning in Pakistan. It's worst time to watch for your prime target audience. What terrible planning. If I was sponsor I would be ******.

This is one of the reasons why some broadcasters will not sign up for the PSL.

I spoke with a guy from Sky Sports and he said that the scheduling and timings were an issue.

Pathetic and so unprofessional from the PCB. The match time on the schedule that was released (maybe a few weeks or so ago) was stated as 4pm UK time but it started near 6 pm UK time.

There is no fixed time in Pakistan for any event, time is always "suggested".

So if they resolved these issues would sky be interested in purchasing the rights?

exactly. the match finished at 2:30-3:00 at Pakistan time. Many broadcasters wouldn't be happy.

OK. then why sky don't telecast our home series?

We as a nation loves to downplay or degrade anything associated with our country

yeah exactly. PSL is one thing that we can be proud of. Its the only reason I respect Sethi.

Ok, I know I am risking some serious blowback here, but is the PSL really something to be proud of?

Is a T20 tournament really anything to be proud of? Quite a few of them these days.

On the PSL.....

Execution is not that good. In addition to last night, where it was pretty evident that organising was a bit of a shambles, last year's format was also weird. With Top 4 teams qualifying for play-offs....when there are only 5 teams. So basically 1st half was just a race to avoid the bottom.

Only sporting event that I have to watch on a crap channel here in the UK, and on a nonHD broadcast.

Quality of the foreign players is also not great. Would argue that way BBL that way is better, forget IPL.

The only redeeming factor (for me), is that you get to see some of the players hyped up on here as the next big thing.

I guess the event must be a bit more hyped up in Pakistan, and the UAE, but sitting here in the UK, not really heard anything about the tournament.

The majority of broadcasting and targeted viewership audience is in Pakistan - and for Pakistanis this is a massive step up as compared to other domestic T20 and ODI competitions.

So naturally sponsors would focus more on Pakistan than someone living in UK for that matter.

This is the best bit of domestic cricketing entertainment you'll get from the PCB - realistically speaking.

I hate to compare, but with the BBL and IPL, you get much better coverage accross the globe, forget their core market. And I think even the CPL has better coverage here (comes on Dave/Dave HD). It does not have to be like this.

Even then, I accept that this is the best thing on offer by the PCB atm. But the product churned out at the end of it, is it anything to be proud of?

I recommend not splitting too many hairs over (yet another) silly T20 league. It'll come and go and in a matter of weeks you'll be back to watching something more credible like Pakistan touring the West Indies.

Can't really blame PCB fully on this.

You can't start opening ceremony with empty stadium, and you can't blame ppl for not coming early as majority of them are of working class there.

And you can't blame them either of not getting stage dismantled quickly enough, as sometimes things do go wrong even after rehearsing it.

Fact is Officially it got late not 2 hours but for 50 minutes. Had it been in lahore or karachi and got late, criticism would've been justified.

and i'm pretty sure that they planned ceremony on thursday so that they could host two matches on friday as it's a holiday and earn more gate fee and more eyeballs.

it was 2 hours late, as the match was suppose to start at 9 sharp Pakistan time.

And yes you can start an opening ceremony with empty seats. You are suppose to start on time, thats not organizers problem if people are coming late.

Those two overs that were cut short due to rain, usually 30 mins are reserved for delays like rain and stuff before D/L comes into play. THe organizers used up that extra 30 mins, and 5 mins rain costed 2 overs short for a complete game.

Some things only go wrong if you dont think properly.

Pcb should had finished the show 2 hours early, so that there was an 1 hour time to clean up and an hour time extra to make sure all the unnecessary things were empty.

Broadcasters could end up cutting the show in half as they have other shows to broadcast aswell

match was suppose to end at 12.

It ended up at 2:30 PST. THe targeted audience. I almost went to bed at first innings. If i could had gone, think about how many others went.

Drop in ratings is caused because of this.

this is the best PCB could come with..You need to keep things in perspective.

Pakistan can't host any sort of cricket at home.

Pakistan doesn't get same royal treatment from India to earn massive revenue like other countries.

also you have to keep in mind the load of incompetent and lazy people work in PCB. This idea of PSL was presented and implemented by one person Najam Sethi. Its quite of work to arrange sponsors for a league outside this country.

coming back to the quality of players, it has got better this year and hopefully things will get better and better in the next editions.

PSL was necessary. The cricket is evolving and leagues like this would help our players play more dynamic cricket and also get experience playing with International players. I don't think they will learn anything playing pathetic domestic cricket in Pakistan. so this is definitely a step up.

I get that. And I appluad the PCB and Najam Sethi in actually getting it off the ground (having taken years to do so).

But it ends there for me, in terms of having anything else good to say about the PCB and the end product. My initial point was that the PSL can be much improved. What they are putting out is not really that great, and certainly nothing to be proud of. Would hope that they are looking to improve it.
