Absence of players from Sindh in the Pakistan side....

Nauman played in Bradford Leagues in UK.Batsmen were petrified of him.He has an excellent bowling averages. He is another one who was ignored for ten years. He is making his debut at the age of 34 years.

I was surprised to hear Shoaib Akhtar bring up Punjabi bias as a reason that kept Fawad Alam out of the squad. I always thought it was personal bias of selectors. I’ve never lived in Pakistan so not sure what is true. Punjabi bias was first brought up to me by my now Bangladeshi coworker whose family lived in Pakistan before Bangladesh.

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Saturday organized a protest against ignoring cricket players of Urban Sindh in the national team.

The protest was organised by Sports & Culture Committee of MQM-P, which was addressed by Aamir Khan, Deputy Convenor MQM-P.

He said that there was time when many players from Karachi were in the national cricket team who contributed immensely in success of Pakistan. Unfortunately, now urban centres have been subjected to discrimination in every walk of life by killing the merit.

He said that new Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Rameez Raja fully knows that when he was playing in the national cricket team, the players from urban centres of Sindh used to be integral part of the team and they played with determination and hard work.

He hoped that the PCB Chairman would not allow the murder merit in selection of players for national cricket team and would take the needed measures to stop injustice being meted out to the players of Karachi.

Aamir Khan said that Fawad Alim is an example of how the Karachi players were ignored. He said Fawad was not given chance for ten years and finally when he was given the chance, he performed exceptionally well. He also pointed out that Sarfaraz Ahmed, under whose captaincy Pakistan won the ICC Champion Trophy was also subjected to injustice, when he was ousted from the team.

Aamir Khan demanded that players from Karachi should be included in the national cricket squad for 20-20 World Cup.

Name the players who should be included from Sindh. Otherwise, this tweet is as meaningless as they come.

The current test team has 6 players from Sindh playing.
Nauman Ali, Mir Hamza, Sarfraz Ahmad, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood and Abrar Ahmed

4 punjabis: Babar Azam, Imam ul haq, Abdullah Shafiq and Agha Salman

1 from Kpk: Mohammad waseem jr

Abrar Ahmad is a pathan from KPK but his family moved to Karachi when he was young.

Is this the first time we have seen this many sindhi players play in the team at the same time?

President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasised the need to improve cricket infrastructure and training facilities in Sindh to nurture and promote the province’s cricket talent

The president called for exploring the possibility of joint ventures in the cricket sector to develop state-of-the-art stadiums, besides providing modern coaching and mentoring opportunities to Sindh’s youth.

The president expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Sindh Premier League (SPL), led by Chairman SPL Malik Aslam, at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Department of Sindh JalaluddinMahar, Vice Chairman SPL Major General Zahid Mehmood (retired), President SPL Arif Malik, CEO SPL Chaudhary Shahzad Akhtar, and senior government officials attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the president said that the SPL was providing a great platform to showcase Sindh’s cricket talent.

He urged the need to devise a comprehensive long-term roadmap to promote cricket in the province.

“Promoting sports and cricket leagues in Pakistan will not only enhance sports tourism but will also boost economic activities,” he remarked.

The delegation briefed the president about the role of SPL in uncovering and promoting Sindh’s cricketing talent and improving cricket infrastructure.

The delegation also highlighted the achievements of SPL’s inaugural season and shared future plans for establishing a high-performance centre in Karachi aimed at training young talent, particularly, from rural and underrepresented areas of Sindh.

The delegation also apprised the president about the problems being faced by the league.

President Zardari assured the delegation of his support to encourage and promote cricket in Sindh, stating that he would ask the Sindh Government and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to extend all necessary assistance to help improve cricketing infrastructure in Sindh as well as provide mentoring to make SPL a success. Later, the SPL delegation also presented an SPL shirt to the president.

Sindh threatens separate cricket board over player discrimination

Sindh provincial sports minister, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, stirred controversy ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy by threatening to establish a separate cricket board for Sindh if local players continue to be denied their rightful opportunities.

Speaking at the opening of the provincial youth conference organised by the Sindh government, Mahar expressed his dissatisfaction with the current treatment of Sindh cricketers, Express News reported.

He stated that they were not being given their due recognition and chances in the national team. He emphasised that cricket is not just for Punjab or Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but is a sport deeply rooted in Sindh as well.

He further claimed that many Sindh players who had the potential to make it to the national team were instead being left behind, with no chance of representing the country despite their merit.

Mahar mentioned that Sindh’s cricketers often found themselves sidelined, "sitting in the dugout while others play," and that the province would make its voice heard by forming its own cricket board if the situation did not improve.

On Saturday, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled the much-anticipated squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 and tri-nation series, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, with Fakhar Zaman making a comeback to the team.

The prestigious tournament will kick off on February 19 and run until March 9.

In a statement released by the board, four changes were made to the 15-player squad that last competed in South Africa’s ODI series late in 2024.

Abdullah Shafique, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Saim Ayub, and Sufyan Moqim have been replaced by Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah, and Saud Shakeel.

Mohammad Rizwan will captain the squad, with Salman Ali Agha named vice-captain. The squad includes three members from the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning team—Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, and Fakhar Zaman.

Pakistan Squad: Mohammad Rizwan (Captain), Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf, Khushdil Shah, Salman Ali Agha (vc), Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Adding to my previous post Saim and Saud makes the team. Hasnain is definitely getting selected on Sindh quota already. Similar to how zahid mehmood was getting selected.

1st thing which Sindh should is getting rid of sarfraz under his mentorship his team has won around 1 game out 13 I believe. I bet dera Murad jamli has probably won more. This region is always in the news for playing a victim card. Starts producing players and they will be selected. Which Sindh players has missed out from the squad who deserved to be selected? Danish Aziz?😂 Zahid mehmood?

Sindh minidters should ask Zardari to use his influence. Zardari’s buddy Shahbaz is patron of PCB. I am sure Shabaz will do Zardari a favour and ask PCB to include more players from Sindh.
