BCCI allows Afghanistan to host B’desh white-ball series in Noida

In a significant development, the BCCI has given a green signal to Afghanistan—now under Taliban rule—to host its matches in India after a gap of four years.

Afghanistan will thus turn out at Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida for the first time since March 2020 for a white-ball home series against Bangladesh in July-Aug.

As per the tentative itinerary (TOI has a copy), the series will involve three ODIs and as many T20Is between July 25 and Aug 6. The Bangladesh team is scheduled to arrive in Greater Noida from New Delhi on July 22 and will have a couple of days’ training session before playing its first ODI.

It’s learnt that the BCCI has allotted two ‘home’ venues to Afghanistan—Greater Noida and Kanpur. Back in Dec 2015, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the BCCI had signed a memorandum of understanding to use the Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Noida, about 40kms outside Delhi, as their home ground.

Thereafter, Afghanistan played their ‘home’ matches in Dehradun, the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and Greater Noida.

Schedule:

July 25: 1st ODI, July 27: 2nd ODI, July 30: 3rd ODI.

August 2: 1st T20I, August 4: 2nd T20I, August 6: 3rd T20I.

BD progress in Cricket has been very slow. However, at least they have their own infrastructure, and play with their own ethnic players.

I wouldn't take a dig at Afghanistan. Afghanistan suffered a lot due to American wars and whatnot.

It is remarkable how well they are doing in cricket despite decades of war.

I am personally a fan of Afghanistan cricket.

BCB ‘not ready’ for Afghanistan series in July

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to postpone next month's white-ball series to be played in Greater Noida between July 25 and August 6.

The ACB could not confirm the venues for the series three months ago and BCB had assumed that the series was not going to materialise. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly allocated two venues for the series, one in Kanpur and another in Greater Noida.

But the BCB did not keep the series in their own scheduling following an earlier postponement and set their calendars to prepare for upcoming tours in Pakistan and India

We are not ready for the series and we have made plans for training and preparation before heading to Pakistan and India," a top BCB official told The Daily Star today.

Bangladesh are set to play Pakistan in a two-match Test series in August-September as per the FTP calendar and are also scheduled to tour India for two Tests and three T20Is in September-October.

Better showing in this World Test Championship cycle has been on the agenda for Bangladesh and players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque and Mehedi Hasan Miraz have been training with Bangladesh Tigers alongside emerging players in a camp which began on May 26 in Mirpur before moving to Sylhet.

As if it matters honestly. Such a timid useless team- they will get hammered and deserved to get hammered anyway for their pathetic losers attitude

So Bangladesh is running aways for a series because they lost a T20 world cup match against Afghanistan .
Lossers

Pakistan should jump in to play this series if we are free, might hasten the axe of certain players more rapidly

There is no T20 tournament till 2026.

It is sensible to postpone the T20 series. Players need rest.

If they have to play, they should play ODIs and Tests only.

The reason is absurd.

They'd rather do drills to prepare for an India tour than play Afghanistan >>IN<< India?

lol okay

I think teams can now tour Afghanistan instead of playing in India. Afghanistan is now much stable.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can go to Kabul and play a tri-series maybe.
This one got a good sense of humor. Lmaoo

Also, how are some Pak fans taking a dig at bd, y'all got a worst problem than them. Looser mentality maybe but they played better cricket than Pakistan in this WC.

No big team will really want to play Afghanistan despite them having reached the semi's of the WC T 20 . They'll be slugging it out with Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for the next 20 years. Scotland and Ireland may be interested in taking them on too.
