Having their cricket base moved from Pakistan to India is the best thing that could have happened to Afghanistan cricket. If they were still established in Pakistan, they would not have been able to improve at this rate.

Now they have access to much better coaching and facilities, and their best young talents get an early opportunity to play in the IPL. In my view, they will overtake Pakistan as Asia's #2 Limited Overs team within 10 years.

Furthermore, people who are moaning that the team lacks balance without Fahim should understand that a player who neither bowl nor bat does not provide any balance. Fahim is a joke who at best should be a fringe squad player to provide cover.

In UAE/Asia, one of the Imad or Nawaz should play for now. They have their limitations and are nothing special, but you need finger spinners on these wickets and they provide good control (Nawaz's economy rate today is an anomaly. He is usually much tighter than this).

In the long run, we need to find a spinner of the same caliber as Yadav and Rashid Khan - the likes of Shadab, Imad and Nawaz do not have that potential, but until we do not find such a spinner, Imad and Nawaz should definitely play ahead of Fahim. Zafar Gohar should also be thrown into the mix along with Asghar.
