After China’s strong message defending Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan and asking the global community to acknowledge its sacrifices in war against terrorism, Russia has echoed similar sentiments following US President Donald Trump’s allegations that Pakistan was offering safe haven to terrorists.

Russian Presidential Envoy to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov slammed Trump’s Pakistan strategy and insisted that Islamabad is “a key regional player to negotiate with.”

“Putting pressure [on Pakistan] may seriously destabilise the region-wide security situation and result in negative consequences for Afghanistan,” the presidential envoy to Kabul told Russia’s ‘Afghanistan’ daily.

Earlier in a phone call to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi urged the US to value Pakistan's role in Afghanistan.

“We must value Pakistan's important role on the Afghanistan issue, and respect Pakistan's sovereignty and reasonable security concerns,” the diplomat said.

Trump, in his first address to the nation as commander-in-chief on Monday, lambasted Pakistan for ‘harbouring militants’.

"We have been paying Pakistan billions and billions of dollars at the same time they are housing the very terrorists that we are fighting," he said, warning that vital aid could be cut. “That will have to change and that will change immediately."

Russia and China are with Pakistan, no doubt. They both understand the immense importance of Pakistan in the entire region. Pakistan, not India or America has the greatest influence in Afghanistan.

Global politics is all self serving tomorrow when Putin visits India he might give a joint statement taking a snide remark against Pakistan without naming them.. Its all self serving hardly matters trump or anyone can say whatever they want but end of the day Pakistan is neighbour of Afghanistan and if Pakistan supports terrorists then ultimately they are harming themselves more than anyone else, all the terrorists attacks are a proof of that..

Iran and Russia's links are also obvious, we don't see everyone clamouring to criticise them either. Infact numerous times the Afghans have complained about Iranians. And the Russians have openly said they give Taliban support. Yes probably Pakistan still gives them support, but we're not that much of a super power that because of us the entire NATO, ISAF and USA haven;t managed to defeat a rag tag militia for over 17 years. There are numerous powers playing proxy games in Afghanistan, including their warlords who are at each others' throats. Blaming one nation is hardly fair.

Indirectly all the honour killings, terrorist attacks, minority violence etc are part of this ideology which the army/government of any country should never support if they want their country to ever advance..

The taliban ideology seems to be deeply ingrained into the people of that region. So even if you kill a million of them, another million will spring up.

As you said, Unless you commit a genocide in the region, there will always be taliban.

US cannot do mass genocide in this day and age. You simply cannot go and kill people indiscriminately in this day and age.

US is fighting with its hands tied up. They simply do not know who is a militant and who is an innocent.

yes but fortunately or unfortunately whwtever u call it i have seen and met with some of them in recent swat insurgecy saga,,,..they have their own ideology and they follow them strictly.....and the resilience they have its almost impossible to defeat them ..
i must give credit to pak army for clearing most of pakistani territory...
i thought it will be impossible..

Mate it's the sad truth no one would deny that Pakistan suffers the most from terrorism but the truth is there are certain sections which support using proxies against India.. It's all an ideology ultimately if you support this ideology against let's say India then tomorrow people from this ideology will break and form their own group which will result in honour killings, secretariat violence, terrorist attacks, minorities being lynched etc..

Don't take my post as India vs Pakistan or anything the simple way is for all the countries in sub continent to work together and eradicate this ideology once and for all and make it into a prosperous place.. But in reality his would never happen and both India and Pakistan will continue to face 3rd world problems including terrorism..
