Wow wow wow!!!
What a fight. Best I have seen in the heavyweight division in last 10 years.
Serious power , character and class shown by 2 gentleman.
Some huge shots in here, a great 5th round where the fight came to life, both teetered on the brink and AJ was being schooled rounds 6-9 but he found something within him in 11 and Vladimir took some punishing blows.

Wow!

An amazing fight. Only got it on Radio 5, wish I'd paid £19.95 for the Sky coverage now!

I though Joshua was done for in the sixth, but somehow he got stronger and stronger.

Moments like that make champions. He hang in there. To do what he did in the 11th round was amazing.

Really hope fury has the guts and pride to face AJ.

Their commentary was god awful! so perhaps Radio 5 was so much better in that aspect but obviously you need the visuals to, other then that the coverage was fine and the production quality was incredible; fight delivered and exceeded all expectations

Fury beat Wladmir before AJ, it's moronic to suggest he lacks pride or guts being a boxer; he's a fighting man with a better overall resume then AJ who has fought mostly bums besides this fight against Wladmir. Fury will no doubt face AJ for a big pay day which he deserves but he won't be the same man who fought Wladmir because doing drugs, abusing your drink and balooning up in weight ages your physical and mental condition (which we're unsure of having been rectified).

Fury is mentally weak. If he had some pride, he would make sure klitsko would have gotten his re match. He robbed the boxing world with his issues.

Like i said in the other thread i hope he gets in the ring with AJ.

That's a very backward way of looking at it, village idiots would use that logic; mental issues should not be shamed because it is a sickness, if someone falls ill we should not blame them it's a very stupid thing to say.

Anyhow going to a champions backyard and beating him when no one was able to for 10 years takes great strength on many levels and only a fool would belittle that win so Fury did not rob anyone, in fact he is the reason why the heavyweight division is so exciting.

He totally outclassed Wladmir who was unable to throw any punches, am surprised there was interest in the rematch (they barely managed to sell tickets for it as well) it's almost as if people feel Wladmir won the fight and deserved a rematch on that basis.

And I have no interest in the AJ/Fury fight at the moment because am not sure Tyson is the same fighter as he was when he fought Wladmir, he will need to have a couple of tune up fights to see if he can still compete at the world level.

Mate I know you know a lot about boxing but I've seen you on the Boxing thread and I know your rate Fury highly.

But here's my opinion.

At this stage in their careers a fit and firing Fury would edge it against Joshua although I would not write Joshua off.

BUT Joshua knows himself that he's not the finished article. After all he's still only had 19 fights.

Add to this the fact the styles make fights and that Wlad was probably in the best shape he's been in for over 7-8 years and you can't really compare the Fury fight to Joshua's fight.

We'll just have to see how Joshua progresses but the fact is Joshua could end up being a hall of famer whereas that is now less likely to be the case with Fury due to his troubles outside of the ring.

I wouldn't argue against that at all, the Tyson Fury who fought Wladmir can give anyone problems and defeat them emphatically but given his issues outside the ring am sceptical; am not sure if you followed the career of Ricky Hatton but his issues outside the ring aged him significantly in the ring, Boxing's no joke and every little thing needs to be perfect when it comes to your physical and mental preparation, it's not like in another sport; these men are going to war literally put their lives on the line and that's an intensity we won't see beyond combat sport. And I agree Joshua is still a work in progress but right now I'd still put my money on him if he were to face Fury later in the year but were it not for his issues then I'd back Tyson.

Tyson Fury fought a Wladmir who was on a 21 fight, 10 year winning streak.

AJ fought a Wladmir who was coming off a loss, 41 years old and had been inactive for 1.5 years, probably the longest inactivity of his career.

All you can say is maybe Wlad was more motivated for the AJ fight, but he is a fighter who always comes prepared to fight, is in great condition and never overweight, etc

So in my opinion Fury fought the better Wladmir and also AJ's style allowed Wladmir to have more success, Fury is more evasive, great speed and footwork which did not allow Wlad to impose himself. Wlad typically does not fight at 240lb, it was a ploy to take AJ into deep waters; he wanted to favour endurance/stamina rather then power/size but as we saw he did not have a lot left in the last quarter of the fight and his legs had gone or else he'd have taken the punches better but that's what age and inactivity can do to you. He also made the mistake of not stepping on the gas pedal after Knocking AJ down.

To AJ's credit he did not fatigue and was able to take some rounds off when Wlad did not improve his work rate after round 6. He's only 19 fights in so am not going to comment on AJ's potential as a Hall of Famer but he has a very high ceiling when it comes to potentially improving and getting even better, yeah a real shame about Fury I don't have high hopes from him but that win against Wladmir was so special won't take that away from him

You dont need to become so emotional. Im stating the facts. Fury after winning the title just lost it in his head. That is not how champs are.

Its not AJ fault that fury damaged his own body and strength. The klitsko AJ beat was way morw focussed and prepared then the one fury beat in a boring match.

Im sure had the re match taken place klitsko would have been different.

And in germany or ukraine klitsko always will sell tickets no matter who he fights.

You are not stating facts, you are stating your opinion. The fact is mental health should be taken seriously and we must not belittle those who become ill.

And as I had said earlier,

We're talking about the rematch in Manchester which was scheduled, it did not sell out; no one was interested in watching Fury face Wladmir again after he destroyed him the first time round.

Uhmm its a fact that since winning the title he didnt box due to his issues. What other reason is there? He looks like a clown with all that fat.

Lazy and no motivation at all.

You do not dethrone an all time great heavyweight who was unbeaten as champion for 10 years by being lazy and having no motivation, his sickness prevented him from making a defence of his titles but he is trying to make a return now and has begun training so the ignorance of the narrow minded clown fans of boxing are not relevant.

Since you are the greatest boxing fan with all the knowledge im talkin about fury AFTER winning the title.

I do hope he comes back and in good shape as that will make things even more interesting.

Well, making fun of a person who is sick and hurling insults such as fat, clown, mentally weak need to be responded to; so I will respond to them by reminding you what Fury has achieved and how any decent human being would not belittle those who are ill. But Like I said, his issues were in the past and he is trying to come back now and seems to be in a better frame of mind; that's all that matters.
