Ali Zafar chosen to sing PSL 9 Anthem [Update post#57]

PSL 9 Anthem - Who should sing it?

What about Atif Aslam? Please no more Aima baig, she cannot sing.
 
Shahzad Roy is the best option. He also did justice with KK theme songs before.
 
Ali Zafar would be my first choice, as he has provided some popular anthems for PSL. My next option would be Xulfi as a composer because his collaboration with Naseebo Lal was intense. I loved that anthem "Groove Mera", it gives me the vibe of achieving something great in cricket while playing.

Reckon Pakistani’s care more about the anthem than the actual PSL…can’t fill up the stadiums but cry about who never got picked to sing the anthem.🤦🏻‍♂️

Remember PSL is entertainment.
 
Try something new this time. I'd give Kaifi Khalil a shot, his the youth icon these days.

Back in the day, he was a famous club cricketer. He picked Aqib Javed in his club after being impressed by his "jump" during bowling stride.

There are lots of cricketers his age that moved to England in the 80s/90s as overseas professionals and sought assylum

They were all decent pros for their clubs. I wouldn’t doubt Chahat was getting paid to play cricket as a club cricketer
 
I think nobody can sing PSL anthems better than Ali Zafar

it would be more interesting if both Ali Zafar and Ali sethi sing anthem together
 
Ain’t won an international game since November staring at a 5-0 defeat. Selecting a 120kg player to represent your country kiwi commentary making fun.

But let’s worry about a poxy song !

Every anthem should have a new singer. Why not outsource it to Coke Studio this time?
 
Think someone in PCB is Aima Baig's biggest fan. Always gets her for every ceremony.

120kg?? You must never have seen a 120kg person.

The player in question is easily 180kg plus. This is me factoring in the fact that he is not that tall.
 
Btw Aima Baig is related to some journalist who always gets Aima a gig to do the PSL song. Terrible singer, but has the contacts to get this gig

Ali Zafar was a success because his anthems were a jingle and people like jingles. The last three anthems were full fledged songs which were good, but I think we can use a jingle this time around.

The purpose of the anthem is to help us remember the torunament and join its vibe.

Atta ullah is the national iconic singer of Bradford and Birmingham british Pakistanis

His remixes are anthems at weddings
 
Have you guys noticed that most of the PSL anthems have a Punjabi touch to it.

Perhaps this time we should try getting Kaifi Khalil on board and give it a Balochi touch.

Shezad Roy would be interesting if he can come up with something good. Dont want those cringy KK type songs.

Ali Zafar btw should be avoided as he has been harrasing women and PSL needs to stay away with such pathetic people.

Ali Zafar has already received a clean chit in that case so how can the PCB drop him considering this case?

because franchise owners dont agree.

he got away with that case but still it looks bad to be associated with such a person.

You cant overlook his sexual harassment. The franchise owners have alot of business affiliated with PSL and dont want to be seen associate with a harasser as its bad for business.
 
PSL anthem should have been released by now to advertise/promote the league 2-3 weeks in advance.
 
Right time to call Rahat Fateh Ali khan to sing PSL anthem.. It will get a marketing boost as he is already in headlines these days!
 
There should be a different singer every season. Can't have Ali Zafar, Aima Baig have a monopoly.

I would prefer listening to him for more 100 years rather than listening to Naseebo Lal type singers.
 
It is a decent song with average lyrics. But will catch on to fans during the course of PSL.
 
PZ has the best song, much better than PSL song. They should hire Zalmi team to make PSL song next time. They always do a great job with the song and graphics. Loving it even though I am punjabi.
 
What exactly is the point of releasing a new anthem for every season (and with each season being like 1.5 months long as well). I follow a variety of sports and have never seen this done elsewhere before. Just seems like a giant waste of money.

Just to waste money I guess because these anthems usually add nothing to the Pakistan cricket betterment. Just another way to entertain fans.
