Why do ECB get to decide this? Rankings are not fair then if some are and some arent playing D/N Tests.

England will be unlikely to stage a day-night Ashes Test match when Australia tour in 2019, England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Tom Harrison said on Wednesday.

Harrison said England did not need a pink-ball Test in their home Ashes schedule, although Australia has already staged four day-night Tests in recent years.

The two countries played the first day-night Test against each other in the second match of the current series at Adelaide Oval earlier this month.

A further two day-night Tests ─ against India and Sri Lanka ─ are likely to be staged in the 2018-2019 season.

“It's to be decided, but it's unlikely, to be honest,” Harrison told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation during the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne.

“I think we've got a format that works brilliantly well for us in Ashes cricket in the UK. Right time, right place, right conditions are the rules for day-night Test cricket. I think we'll wait and see, but it's unlikely I would say.”

Cricket Australia counterpart James Sutherland said he was comfortable with the ECB's decision, if it materialised.

“We're obviously great advocates of it, we've seen the success of it here but Tom knows his conditions better,” Sutherland said.

Is it really needed in England? The crowds turn up in any case - leave alone in an Ashes encounter - and the sun sets at like 8PM. Hardly a day-night affair is it?

For the most part it'll be players playing with the pink ball in broad daylight which gets a bit farcical like in the test vs the W̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶I̶n̶d̶i̶e̶s̶ Windies this year.

Then all series need to be of equal length also. If only 1 of 4 India tests is DN puts teams like BD at an additional disadvantage if half their 2 tests are DN games. Also all teams should play all the others.

But i agree...all series in a Test league should be 3 tests minimum.

For the most part, current Test league proposals are a vast improvememt from the status quo.

How are India gonna play day night tests in winter in India? What with dew and stuff?

Not sure it will work or is even necessary in England
In the sub-continent a non-dew location needs to be selected.
Adelaide, Brisbane, Dubai and Port Elizabeth is perfect for day/Night
Not sure about West Indies and New Zealand though.

I disagree with the OP. Not all ODIs or T20s are day nighters. For example, WI rarely host DN white ball games. A Test match is still a Test match at the end of the day.
