In home conditions I would back the sub-continent XI considering the docile nature of pitches which could also take considerable turn.Rest of the World has more match-winners but I feel technically the subcontinent players are better suited to the conditions prevailing at home.

What I have learnt is that Waqar Younis is extremely underrated in this forum.

You should have Kumble as your second spin option if you want to pick two spinners. 600+ wickets under 30 is not a joke.Qadir has 200 wickets at 32 avg.

Somehow even if statistically a giany I never rtaed Kumble a genuine spinner-more like fast-medium pacer.Chose Shoaib baecuse of his sheer pace and hostility which could terrify oponents although Waqar was more skilled and better overall.Qadir was the ultimate exponent of wizardry who could beguile opponents more than any spinner.

Which team would you back ?Rest of world or subcontinent in home conditions?

In home conditions, you gotta have Kumble in your team. He was a genuine match winner and he had proved it over plenty of years of success in international cricket.

Personally, I would never rate a bowler on the basis of their performance in few years like say, Mohammad Asif who was a magician with the bowl but only for two-three years period. The reason because many bowlers have had such extremely great purple patch for those two-three years. Its what you do for your overall career is what matters.

Qadir for all the hype averaged 33 with the bowl and irrespective of the fact that in modern era, he would have got more LBWs than he got in his era, his career performance pales in front of Kumble.

It's the career performance which matters and eventually why Malcolm Marshall, and not Wasim Akram is considered the greatest fast bowler of all-time.

Kohli ahead of Miandad and Fazal Mahmood ahead of Kapil Dev.

subcontinent team would kill the all time 11. Would beat them anywhere actually including turners, slow pitches, swing friendly pitches. Bouncy pitches is the only question mark.

If game is in subcontinent, World XI has very little chance.

Here's my Subcontinent XI:

Tendulkar
Sehwag
Dravid
Kohli
Aravinda De Silva
Miandad
Sangakara(wk)
Imran Khan (c)
Wasim Akram
Shoaib Akthar
Muralitharan

Here's my World XI:

Gary Sobers
Graeme Smith
Ponting
Lara
Steve Waugh (c)
Ian Botham
Gilchrist (wk)
Warne
Michael Holding
Courtney Walsh
McGrath.

Both teams are good I think it would be 50 - 50 chances in overseas and 75 - 25 to subcontinent xi in subcontinent conditions...
