"All West Indies' players are coming besides 2 of them, people are talking nonsense" : Najam Sethi

Najam Sethi speaking to reporters earlier:

"All West Indies' players are coming besides two of them, of which Gayle has already failed. These players (aren't coming because they) play in IPL. All the others have come. 1-2 others don't even play T20s. I am disappointed at people who are talking nonsense, they should be saying positive things at this time but they are talking nonsense"

"Already the world is seeing Karachi through a different lens. They had all kinds of frightening thoughts about Karachi but now they are seeing it differently. There's colour, people are walking in the open on the streets and there's nothing to fear"

"WI aren't holding a presser etc. due to security"

"Threats about attacking teams have been blown out of proportion by the media. There's no such thing. There's routinely terrorist threats but they are tackled and dealt with. There's no serious threats"

If I'm not mistaken Narine and Samuels have visited Pak so security wouldn't have been an issue for them..... this issue of "second string" WI side is only being floated by Indians and other Pakistanis who don't want Pakistan to progress - aqalmand ke liyay ishara hi kaafi.

In bold, as best as I could make them out, are the common players. Says a lot.

Jason Mohammed also, who is now the captain.

Basically the ones missing are Brathwaite/Gayle; presumably they pulled out.

Hope/Nurse/Taylor were all poor in NZ so they can be considered to be dropped.

Pollard/Beaton didn't play against NZ though they were in the squad.

IIRC wasn’t Beaton reported for a suspect action?

KARACHI: The ball has started to roll as far as the return of international cricket to Pakistan is concerned.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), making great efforts for the revival of big time cricket in the country, now has the support of major stakeholders, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA).

On the upcoming T20I series between Pakistan and the Windies, the executive director of FICA, Tony Irish said the security consultant was satisfied with the arrangement.

“FICA’s security consultant Reg Dickason is involved in the risk assessment. It was Cricket West Indies that needs to give the nod or otherwise after consulting its players association, WIPA,” Irish said

Irish added that as for the recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in Lahore and Karachi, the risks were manageable.
“FICA has passed the security report, done by its consultant Dickason, to WIPA. The security consultant’s advice for the WI tour is that the security risks remain heightened but they are manageable with a robust security plan.

“This is similar to the advice for the PSL final,” Irish added.

On a question, the executive director emphasised that FICA’s role is to obtain advice from a security consultant and pass that on to the relevant quarters.

“When it comes to a national team tour, FICA’s role is to obtain the security advice for that players association and then it is up to that players association and the board to make the decision,” Irish concluded.

We should be greatful that cricket is back in Pakistan, teams are willing to tour and we can witness international cricket in Pakistan again
but some people just like nit picking everything
We are not faithful to our own country we are experts at throwing our dirty laundry in the air and after that expect others to have faith in us and visit us.

Pollard,Russel and Narine won’t be in the squad. They missed the WCQ when WI needed them. They don’t deserve to be picked.

Brathwaite/Holder and maybe Gayle/Lewis pulled out due to security reasons.

so the fuss is we are missing chris gayle so that you know chris gayle averages a mighty 17.50 in the last 12 months

Carlos Brathwaite his overall average is 21.00 lets not even talk about his bowling

Jason Holder only averages 14.00 in his whole t20i career

so somebody please please explain what are we missing out, in fact it will be better competitive cricket with west indies injecting young talented payers just like we have injected shaheen shah afridi, talat hussain,

even if gayle was playing he would have not hit those big big sixes he hits against IPL level bowlers
bowlers in pakistan are a diffrent ball game

"There's routinely terrorist threats but they are tackled and dealt with. There's no serious threats"

What was the need of saying this?

It's a bit difficult to figure out which WIN player is in which team. They are always like this - only in WC, they send (at least try to send) their best 15.

I think, this is quite a good squad. Normally, WIN players are better T20 players because of the nature of the game and there could be few very good unknown players. Besides, for any newcomer, performing in this series means a possible PL/SL contract next year, therefore I expect highest level of commitment for every player.

The purpose was different, therefore any team is welcome; hope the series ends in smiles, result hardly matters.

Its about time real caribbean countries make real teams based on nationality.

This conglomeration of islands and playing as 1 unit is done and dusted now. WI's sell by date is over.

About time we see a seperate trinidad and tobago team. Also the other teams.

Coupled with:

"WI aren't holding a presser etc. due to security"

Talk about shooting oneself in the foot!

Devilliers averages 26 in international t20, I guess you wouldn't miss abdv if he decides to pull out. T20 averages are meaningless, teams still don't take t20 seriously other than wt20

They all miss out because of IPL.
