These are mostly meant for gravies similar in Delhi would be Lachha but imagine made from maidha to give you an idea, they are great too but since you and me are more used to Wheat stuffed parathas.

Are they similar to Aloo/Stuffed Naan and Kulcha? :inti

I think BVB was taken aback by pics of Kothu and Chilli Parotta. How to explain to non-Tamils that we tear up the parottas after making them and then add a whole lot of other ingredients to make completely new dishes?

I will definitely try if I find one here. :inti

Most of the northies only know about Dosa, Idli, Uttapam, Sambar. This is what most of the south indian restaurants offer here. Not sure about other areas but in my area alone there are 4-5 South Indian restaurants and all of them are always full. You don't get a table easily there.

You all should experiment more, these are standard dishes that most Northies know but there are many more. None of those dishes is a Kerala special, also so much more from interior TN. Do order Parotta Kurma in Tamil restaurants next time, I am sure it will be a breakfast option :inti

Or next time you venture down south let us know, we can suggest some nice, popular restaurants.

Lol, well tbf lot of things are weird but am sure he can imagine considering Delhi has so much fusion of foods- Tandoori Momos ebing one ,even in Chennai in early 2000's Hot Chips started a dish called chilli idly, which was damn tasty but i lost interest on it later, not sure if its still available another being samosa stuffed with noodles that was available in many restaurants.

Also the Kerala Paratha , the local ones(smaller shops) are much more flaky(which is what I like) compared to ones that are available at restaurants.

Aaloo Paratha,Methi Paratha these two I eat once in a month.

Methi Paratha is so underrated.
Other underrated ones:
Egg,
Onion,
Paneer.

My mother even makes beet root ones, very similar to mooli one.

Lol there was a small restaurant here who had 50 different varities of Momos alone. Also Soya Chaap is also quite popular here. As I said, if South Indian restaurants start serving those dishes then people will definitely eat it. :inti

When I lived in West Delhi or till early 2000s visited it, the South Indian restaurants there were the ones that made Chowmein famous. Dosa and Chowmein were specialities of South Indian restaurants most are closed now..

Yes had Soya Chaap not a fan but my parents love it, I like Tandoori and Afghani momos but soya chaap at best i can have one... defn not the gravy one.

My fav Delhi food except for obvious Parathas is Cholle Bhature,Dal Makhani and Paneer dishes, the quality of Paneer in Delhi is the best I have had across India incl Punjab.

Yes Chole Bhature is our fav dish apart from Rajma Chawal. I live in West Delhi too. :inti

Franchise chains like Saravana Bhavan, Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Anjappar Chettinad, Vasanta Bhavan, Sangeetha, Dindigul Thalappakatti, Murugan Stores etc go beyond the standard idli, dosa, vada fare. They may be overrated but have some variety. They have chains in North and even overseas.

Anjappar in Canada was bad(one of my fav in Chennai) tbf the Lankan tamil food in Canada is very tasty and cheap too incl Parathas and gravies among the Franchise ones.

Sarvana Bhavan is there but I've always preferred Sangeetha over it , also I think you mean Murgan Idly shop and no they are not in Delhi only Sarvana,AAB are ones in North.

I was very impressed with this South Indian couple selling Indian street food in their nicely designed Mobile Kitchen in London. Look at that kitchen. There are other videos from the same guy. He mostly visits Desi Food stalls and restaurants. :inti

Yeah Murugan Idly shop, been there once or twice. I used to like Saravana Bhavan till 15 years back, then the management changed and quality has gone down the drain. These days visit A2B often because of location. I once bumped into Kris Srikkanth and Harsha Bhogle in one of the Sangeetha restaurants, RA puram branch 2 years ago. I was browsing PP at that time lol.

You should have taken their interviews and posted those at PakPassion. :inti
