What's your take?

I don't know much about former New Zealand players. But I think yours is pretty good apart from maybe Boult, I don't think as of yet you can say he would make an all time NZ XI but by the time his career ends he probably would. I don't know any alternatives however but I'm sure NZ have had some good pacers in the past.

Pretty much the team described above but I would slot in Southee as backup for Bond since he has injury problems. Also, there is a case for Jacob Oram who has underrated stats and is a personal favorite. Dude was scary good in his prime.

No space for Sutcliffe? He is regarded as NZs most elegant and technically correct batsman.

I'd probably have it

1. Turner
2. Sutcliffe (Was known to open the batting)
3. Williamson c
4. Crowe
5. Taylor
6. McCullum c/wk
7. Cairns
8. Vettori
9. Hadlee
10. Southee
11. Bond

Fleming has to make way. 10 years ago he would get a place in the side on his captaincy alone but McCullum was a better, more daring captain who brought tactics to the test and ODI side that others tried to emulate. I still remember Cook trying to emulate Mac after losing the first test, adding in more slips, being more aggressive, not reacting but being proactive. That helped England level the series.

Taylor too has solidified his place as NZ top 5 batsman, so has to be in there, as does Southee because he is handy with the bat. Boult just misses out but in a couple of years he could overtake one of the bowlers.

Southee is not even a great bowler. Just a very god one. Boult is a more tougher deal although he is also not ATG in tests.

I dont know anything about Sutcliffe. But Fleming, not in NZ all-time is a bit too hard to digest.

Imagine you making a thread on NZ all-time XI and there is no Stephen Fleming in it.

Williamson and Taylor are both better batsmen than him, across formats and by some distance. Like I said, Fleming may have been able to secure his place as a captain alone, but not now, as I feel BM was just as good, or a better captain.

but to have fleming or not is a 51/49 type of thing and I wont argue too much against him.
