Analysis on why Hardik Pandya isn't living up to the hype?

Very soon this thread will turn into Sr. Pandya vs Shadab thread.... moment krunal pandya is drafted in indian team for Asia cup.
His skill set is pretty similar to Ravindra Jadeja, i.e few overs of tight left-arm spin but probably better batsmen than current day Raina.
Krunal has had three consistent seasons of the IPL and is worth being tried as a finisher alongside his brother, at No.6 or 7. He also satisfies the team management's criteria of being a left-handed middle-order batsman, and could also end up being a better bowling option than Raina. A series or two in the coming months might give India a chance to figure out if he's an option worth exploring.

This is his max limit. Not going to become Imran Khan after 2 years.

He will be a good player for India. He was never going to be a Kapil Dev or Imran Khan. That was an unrealistic expectation.

I will say in his defense that he is playing against top flight teams day in day out. That’s gonna impact your figures somewhat. As opposed to say, Pakistai players who in an endless procession of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka and Bangladesh their figures are always gonna look better.
I haven’t really seen much of Pandya other than in the game against Pakistan in CT final: I thought he batted and bowled quite well there.
The only other time I saw him when he scored 90 odd against South Africa in the recent series. Maybe he needs a few easy series to get his confidence and figures heading in the right direction.

Faheem bats at 6 down because Pak management knows that at the moment he is going to be used as pinch hitter but at the same time they know that he can improve and might give him more time in the middle.

6 down is a pretty normal position even if you consider him a bowling all rounder.

However, the way India is using Hardik as 3rd seamer is too much to ask for if we consider him a batting all rounder.

Pandya played against Srl and didnt set the world on fire but, against same team Faheem took a hatrick.

Mainish Pandey? Oh man!! He is a dud. He cannot take singles and at best can score at 100 S/R and that too in T20's. A guy who struggles to score boundaries and rotate strike is not the solution.

So a guy who averages 40 at strike rate of 93 and who has played only 17 ODI innings for India, becomes a problem for India even when he is not part of the squad. Some logic dude!

He's not a T20 cricketer, and unfortunately gets judged on the basis of IPL, where people like Pandya are the superstars.

Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but he scored 90 vs SA and then pretty much nothing after that. This 5fer could be the exact same thing, unless of course in this test he scores a hundred off 60-70 deliveries to go with the 5fer.
