What's new

And so it begins..... the decline of the Pakistan Test team?

I agree with this. Even though I don't rate Younis of post 2007 as good as before but I still think all the success we had post 2010 it had major contribution from YK.

Younis, Sarfi, Misbah, Amir, Babar.. all the others contribute next to nothing when it matters.

Misbah at best can draw a game where fast bowlers have no role to play on a dead pitch. We have seen number of times how Misbah has choked even against the low ranked teams. The series against Zimbabwe comes to mind. Where YK in one of tests scored double century to save Pakistan embarrassment of losing test series to Zimbabwe.

Pakistan team will fare better outside of Asia under Sarfi's captaincy.
We need a technically solid batsman like Haris in the side.

Give the younguns some time, they will come good (I mean talented younguns not Shehzad types).

When have we never lost a test match in west indies though. Heck we even managed to lose a match against zimbabwe.

He missed the major series in 2010

even Misbah did. I think YK would have repeated his performances we have seen on our last trip to England,Australia if he did play. YK was much much better player of fast bowling but he started declining after 2007.

The team will take some time to settle but I don't think it's all doom and gloom ahead.

Exactly, there is still enough there to win matches against any team in the world. The main thing is application. These boys need to apply themselves, they all are good enough to perform. Maybe not Shan Masood but the rest are more than capable of performing at a high level

Not consistently. Pakistan can indeed win matches against any team in the world (like most of the test playing nations except Zimbabwe), but they are not a team that can do it consistently for a long time.

The first test after Misbah and YK.
It was still close match.
Experience counts.
Experience counts and Herath used his experience to overcome a bunch of non experienced talented batters.
Nothing embarrasing about it.

I'm not sure that good times are ahead.

We have a number of mentally weak batsmen in the squad at the moment and I don't see too many match-winning innings coming up from them.

Haris Sohail and Azhar Ali are probably the only 2 batsmen who I would trust in a mentally tough situation.

Mentally weak captain. You won't be going anywhere with that kind of baggage.

All the so called experts didnt know what as captain he was capable of until he won us the CT first time in history.

This was his first test as captain so one shouldnt be too harsh on him.

You never know what wonders he is yet to do.
