Anjem Choudary, one of the most notorious hate preachers living in Britain, is facing jail after being found guilty of supporting Islamic State.

Having avoided arrest for years despite his apparent sympathy for extremism and links to some of Britain’s most notorious terrorists, Choudary was convicted at the Old Bailey after jurors heard he had sworn an oath of allegiance to Isis.

The 49-year-old, who has links to one of Lee Rigby’s killers, Michael Adebolajo, and the Islamist militant Omar Bakri Muhammad, also urged followers to support Isis in a series of talks broadcast on YouTube.

Choudary and his co-defendant, Mohammed Rahman, 33, told their supporters to obey Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Isis leader, who is also known as a caliph, and travel to Syria to support Isis or “the caliphate”, the court heard.

They were convicted in July but details of the trial, including the verdict, could not be reported until now.

Choudary and Rahman face up to 10 years in jail for inviting support for a proscribed organisation. They will be sentenced on 6 September at the Old Bailey.

Hopefully our British Pakistani brothers don't make him as some sort of martyr now

Bet you they will make this about freedom of expression and Charlie Hebdo/Muhammad cartoons.

Why would they do that, it wasn't them who made him a tv celebrity. He'll be selling a few more copies of the red tops tomorrow, the tabloids will be overjoyed.

So Isis is a western agent?

There are many that believ Isis was created by the West to defame Islam and Muslims. But to be honest any nutty Muslims are blamed on clever western machinations, never on their nuttiness.

Good riddance. They need to cast a wider net and bring other extremists under scrutiny. UK is awash with extremist Mullahs.

He is widely seen as an MI5 agent anyway. There is no way they would have allowed him to get away with his nonsense for that long otherwise. Both him and Tommy Robinson for that matter.

It was coming for sometime , not really surprised .

But this man was afraid to speak his opinions , was never politically correct

Speaks for a very very small minority of Muslims.
This could have happened ages ago but media was too often busy turning him into a celebrity.
Funny how much air time a man who represent 0.0001% of the country was getting!!

He ended up on some shock jock show in the US last time I heard. How the hell he managed to get a visa over there I'll never understand.

Update: just looked it up, it was the Sean Hannity show.

Good riddance.

let's see if he changes his tune in a few years and joins the like of quiliam foundation

finally some good news. there needs to be an effort from within the muslim community to clean up their game too. these mullahs have been allowed to be active in the west for far too long.

You don't need to embrace Anjem Choudary in order to praise the murder of Qandeel Baloch or Salman Taseer, or to praise a British Pakistani man for murdering an Ahmadi because of his beliefs.

If anything some will make Anjem Choudary out to be a victim being persecuted by the kuffar somehow, especially his female niqab-clad supporters.

You must think British Pakistanis all follow PakPassion that they would know who Qandeel Baloch or Salman Taseer are. I never heard of these people other than on this website, and I'm still going to have to do a google search to find out who Qandeel Baloch is and I'm on here regularly.

Is it the guilt that acts up? Saw the transformation of JJ as well.

JJ was always harmless. He'd be more comparable to a sikh bhangra singer who became a vegetarian and adopted the turban in his later years.

Yes but still kept singing..without issues btw are u talking about someone specific?

It's all for show, this guy will be let out sooner than we think, he has been extremely useful for the secret services in helping drag the image of British Muslims into the ground.

Funny hows calls to have him locked up from within the UK Muslim communities had fallen of deaf ears for the last decade, so whats new, either he is of no more use to the government or they have replacements lined up to continue his good work.

Why are deplorable and reprehensible views always masked as "not being PC" ?

If political correctness means not praising those who committed terrorist acts on civilians (9/11 and 7/7) as "magnificent martyrs" using Choudary's words, not calling for imposition of sharia in Britain via violent conquest, not rejecting the concept of human rights like he has and not describing Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as a "prince of the believers" then I'm all for it.

Anjem Choudary is a man who masquerades as a religious scholar, yet has never studied under any leading Muslim scholar nor has any scholarly credentials to speak of !

He's a useful idiot for the anti-Muslim right who love to hold him up as an example of the Muslim bogeyman hence all his appearances on shows like Hannity, and in return he gets the media spotlight he craves.

I said his opinions , that may be right or wrong.

Yes , he is not a scholar.

It's too keep the public happy while at the same time helping to make his cover more believable.

People like Mr Choudary, rebel in their prime and then for some reason they see the light and become hardcore fanatics.

Yes what the British and Americans did in Iraq and inexcusable, but this guy took advantage and further his own goals to make money. Thats all it is..

Hes a coward.

Islamist hate preacher Anjem Choudary has been banned from Twitter, less than a week after he set up a profile on the social media platform.

The 54-year-old confirmed to Sky News that his account had been suspended.

Twitter has not yet commented on the move.

Choudary had been the subject of significant legal restrictions, preventing him from speaking publicly, since his release from prison in October 2018.

He was convicted on terrorism charges in 2016, which included inviting support for the terrorist group Islamic State.

Most of the legal conditions preventing him from speaking publicly expired 10 days ago and Choudary, also known as Abu Luqman, set up a Twitter profile just days later.

Reacting to the news of his ban, he told Sky News: "That was quick, a record, just five days after I set up my account."

He said Twitter had not given him a reason for the suspension and that he believed he had been "quite moderate" in his posts.

The hate preacher served his sentence at the high-security Frankland prison in Durham, which houses a number of terrorist prisoners.

Counter terrorism police have previously described Choudary as one of the most influential Islamist extremists in Europe.

At his Old Bailey trial, prosecutors said he was responsible for radicalising countless individuals.

His followers included the killers of soldier Lee Rigby, Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, as well as Siddhartha Dhar from north London.

Dhar left the UK to join ISIS in 2014 and is believed to have acted as an "executioner" for the terrorist group, responsible for numerous murders.

SKY

He should be banned for life for speaking in any form.

Things have changed since he's been away. It will be the Muslims who will confront him. Most in the UK believe he is a agent , paid for propaganda.

Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary has told a trial “the Kevin Keegan effect” meant people still viewed him as being a member of Al-Muhajiroun (ALM) after it became a proscribed terrorist network

Choudary, who was convicted of supporting the so-called Islamic State in 2016, is accused of taking a “caretaker role” in directing the group, as well as being a member of the proscribed organisation for “many years” and encouraging support for it through online meetings.

The 57-year-old, of Ilford, east London, is said to have given lectures to the New York-based Islamic Thinkers Society (ITS), which prosecutors allege was “the same” as ALM.

ALM has been banned in the UK since 2010, though it is said the group has continued to exist under various names.
It was the Kevin Keegan effect, I’ve never moved on from him playing for Liverpool

Anjem Choudary
Choudary, giving evidence at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, said ALM was disbanded in 2004 because founder Omar Bakri Mohammed had a shift in ideology.

Asked by defence barrister Paul Hynes KC if his role in the group is what he is most famous for, Choudary replied: “Yes, it was the Kevin Keegan effect, I’ve never moved on from him playing for Liverpool.”

He added: “People look at me and think Al-Muhajiroun.”

Choudary said he became known as a member while the group sought publicity between 1996 and 2004.

Why such affiliation with UK and it's internal issues.

I'm pretty certain, we recently had a Hindutwa representative in india who was encouraging the murder of 200k innocent Muslims in return for a slaughtered Cow!

Jihadis talk about killing kafirs and conquering the world through sword all the time that too while living in countries as minority but that never bothers you.

Of course when a fed up Hindu decided to give it back, it hurts so much.

🤣🤣🤣

Anjem Choudary is no different to the Indian extremist who wants 200k muslims massacred for slaughtering a COW.

The question now is will he be locked up behind bars and put on trial.

Only difference is our people don’t go to Europe and talk about imposing our beliefs in those countries.

Anjem Choudary, the leader of the banned terror group al-Muhajiroun, has been jailed for life and may never leave prison alive.
He was found guilty of directing the group and encouraging support for it through online meetings

The sentence means that Choudary cannot seek to leave jail on licence until he is more than 85 years old.

Choudary appeared shocked and rocked on his feet in the dock as he was given a minimum term of 28 years at Woolwich Crown Court.
The extremist preacher was convicted last week of directing a terror organisation after a complex operation involving detectives and investigators in the US, Canada and the UK.

Mr Justice Wall said Choudary’s group was a radical organisation that intended to spread sharia law, by violent means, to as much of the world as possible.

Choudary, one of the most notorious radicalisers in the UK, was caught after an international undercover investigation proved that the long-banned al-Muhajiroun network that he headed was still operating in 2021 - and trying to recruit new followers under a false name in North America.

Al-Muhajiroun, which emerged in the late 1990s, has been linked to dozens of acts of terrorism with followers committing acts of violence both at home and abroad.

Choudary has been at the heart of the organisation since its earliest days and became leader in 2014 after its founder was jailed in Lebanon.
The 57-year-old’s imprisonment relates to his attempts to redevelop the network in 2021, after his release from a five-and-a-half year prison sentence for inviting his followers to support the Islamic State fighters in Syria.

Once freed of that sentence, Choudary began holding online lectures with followers in North America. But he did not realise that his online talks promoting jihadist ideology had been infiltrated by undercover officers from Canadian and US security services.

Mr Justice Wall said that in approximately 30 lectures Choudary had encouraged members of the “Islamic Thinkers Society” - a codename for the al-Muhajiroun network - into confrontational street preaching and acts of violence.

“You thinly disguised these exhortations as lessons in Islamic theology,” said the judge, adding that Choudary knew members of the organisation would carry out acts of violence, whether or not he was personally involved.

'Normalise violence'
“Organisations such as yours normalise violence in pursuit of an ideological cause,” said the judge.. “They drive wedges between people who would otherwise live together in peaceful co-existence. Your behaviour was of the highest culpability."

Turning to the group’s history, the judge said Choudary’s followers had included Siddhartha Dhar, a key lieutenant, who had joined the Islamic State group in Syria and murdered its captives.

Good! Deserves every bit of it, and more.

There is probably a measurable study that can be undertaken that shows majority of UK based "Muslim" extremists are also benefit claimants.

Good riddance.
Rot in jail now

He was a threat to Britain and to Europe’s society by calling upon young Muslim men to go violent.

Very dangerous individual who i met once many years ago when he started the al-margarine group trying for a islamist state.

Best thing to happen to all in the UK as well Europe the amount of reverts he was brainwashing into becoming overnight jihadis was shocking.

Due to this clown our religion of peace is now known as religion of violence.

What was your experience like?

I will be honest as possible ok this forum.

When i met him along with his thug life team i was really worried about his all ideology of having an islamic state.

When ISIS was founded non of these boys went over to join them instead hid inside the cosy homes.
This retard reminds me of Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, Both utterly and extremely dangerous to the society.

Al Muhajiroun were clowns, as were their predecessors HT. They were basically professional trolls who seemed to think it was funny to use freedom of speech to agitate the public. I'm sure that's why Choudry has been shocked by his life sentence as he probably thought he was just doing an Islamic version of Tommy Robinson.

They call for an Islamic state while leaving on benefits of a non Muslim state.

I'm surprised these dummies have followers.

Many thoughts of them as intelligence plants and stayed well clear.

When was Islam ever a religion of peace? Can you cite any source to prove this because it’s written in their scriptures that attacking non Muslims is not only fair but a responsibility.

Ganga Jamuni tehzeeb culture or Bharat excluded.

Islam is a religion of peace and there are many Verses In HOLY BOOK "QURAN" about it.

But it has nothing to do with this thread. Talk about Anjem Choudary. THANKS

DO NOT DERAIL THE THREAD WITH IRRELEVANT STUFF

Unfortunately people spend too much time in spreading misinformation about Islam but doesn't even spend a 1/10 of it in reading the actual scripture i.e Holy Quran.
