What's new

Another one sided encounter this Sunday in favour of India?

The last two ODI finals Pakistan played in England were the 1999 WC final and the 2001 Natwest Series final - both matches were over before lunch as we were bowled out for dismal scores vs Australia.

I hope we're not going to see a repeat of that. If we're going to be beaten, for the love of god show some fight. The shellacking in Edgbaston was one of the most dispiriting displays I've ever seen where it got the point where Indian commentators like Manjrekar were showing pity for us.

We have done a terrible job of dealing with the pressure of the occasion down the years vs India. You could see how jittery we were in our fielding performance vs India in the group match - I know we're not that bad a fielding unit as we showed that day because we've all seen the improvements made in fielding in the Caribbean and in the subsequent matches that followed the Birmingham defeat.

Stay calm, back yourselves and have a good gameplan.

So you're not using the 1992 World Cup as a template but rather the 2009 World T20, the only ICC tournament Pakistan has won in the last 25 years. That is some history to go by, as opposed to the many times underdog teams have gone through to the finals building a great deal of momentum before losing to the favourites.

I can't say that this Pakistan bowling unit won't do a better job on Sunday than during their group stage match. What I can say is that it has happened once too often in recent times that Pakistan have hyped up their team's chances against India in ICC tournaments only to set themselves up for disappointment, their team barely even putting up a fight. It used to be about handling pressure, now it has become more than that. There's a clear gulf in quality between the two teams and that becomes apparent whenever these two sides meet.

I've said this before and I'll say it again — Pakistan winning depends upon them getting India's top 3 out early. If Pakistan lets them play themselves in again, the match is as good as gone. Pakistan cannot outbat India in such a situation. They're literally depending on one new batsman to change the entire complexion of their batting line-up.
I don't think anyone in their right mind would say that Pakistan compares to India man-to-man in terms of batting. India's batting revolves around a strong start from the top three batsmen and I believe as a Pakistan fan that Pakistan has the bowlers to cause them a few problems. In my opinion, it depends on how hard Pakistan comes at India on the 18th. If its the same Pakistan we have seen in the five previous encounters before this game, they might aswell hand the trophy to India on a plate. India handles pressure much better than this Pakistan team for sure. The final entirely depends on which Pakistan enters the field.

When the first catch is offered to Pak, and they grab it, there is no turning back from there. Pak will THRASH indians black and blue this sunday and I am not running away. Bring it on. I do not remember the last Final between the 2 in an ICC ODI cup. The last final between the 2 in a WC (T20) was mighty close and Pak threw it away. It ain't happening this time around. This final will be the nail in the coffin for wrist-slitter pakpassioners.

LOL. I predicted here now hide pests. I would love to see those faces predicting no contest with a sheepish smirks. Indians got embarrassed on the grand stage and let see how they recover from this scar. Indian team is nothing when Pak bowling bring its "A" game.

Sarfraz at press conference: Indians we have returned the 124 runs loss with extra 'Interest' (suud) back to you!!!

Indians have always grossly exaggerated their players and team. You guys love looking down on us but I hope today will be remembered to keep yourselves in check. We will gladly remind you how bad you were done today.

Again delusion, India is a far better team than England. They have actually won something like the Champions Trophy last time?

And when Pakistan loses it's not because of pressure, it's because they are far inferior to India. The pressure thing is something Pakistani fans like to say to themselves to maintain a false illusion of equivalency amongst the teams. I mean if Pakistan has a weaker cricket team than India what will they have over India?

Also I think it's time to lay off the delusions. This Pakistan team has been beaten multiple times now by India over the years. Yet the Pakistani cheerleaders like you keep coming back for more. And the worst thing is even after Pakistan loses on Sunday there won't be any humility or lack of delusion - it'll be back to - Remove XYZ from team and replace with ABC and we will smash India.

Hahaha :))) Damn we should've removed XYZ and replaced them with ABC. Maybe then we could've smashed India. Oh well

Was a one-sided match alright LMAO. :91:

Congrats, Pakistanis! India-Pakistan ICC matches have been boring for years now so this wasn't the worst result in the world.
