ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has tightened its noose around overseas Pakistanis over their alleged involvement in committing offences and posting seditious posts on social media, ARY News reported on Monday, citing sources.

Sources told ARY News that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to put names of overseas Pakistanis on the Exit Control List for allegedly committing offences and posting seditious posts on social media.

Sources within the FIA claimed that red notices through Interpol will be issued for all expatriates “if they commit any offence”.

They further claimed that ‘spreading negative propaganda’ from abroad would be considered a violation of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PICA) 2016.

Earlier, the Corps Commanders Conference – held on May 15 – showed concern over externally sponsored and internally facilitated, orchestrated propaganda warfare, unleashed against the Pakistan Army leadership, meant to create fissures between the armed forces and the people of Pakistan, and within the rank and file of the armed forces.

propaganda of such inimical forces will be defeated with the support of the people of Pakistan, who have always stood with the Armed Forces during all odds.” The forum stressed the need for strict implementation of relevant laws to penalize the violators of social media rules and regulations.
The Pakistan Army also vowed action against perpetrators who attacked military installations in ‘politically motivated and instigated incidents’ in the past few days.

The forum acknowledged the successful counter-terrorism and intelligence-based operations in the country by security forces, especially valiant response given by the troops in the Muslim Bagh attack, and paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the brave sons of the soil.

Going the extra mile knowing how well Pakistan has such a huge overseas population.

They can only be talking about those with dual citizenship, specifically ex-pats. Otherwise they have no leverage over those who are nationals of other countries.

Very good decision. About time people who have no intention to ever live a day in the life of a citizen Pakistani (not a holidaymaker) should be held accountable for supporting rebellion in the nation

After retirement, these criminal army generals and corrupt ministers and sell out judges - will all have to take refuge somewhere overseas, or have to live under tight security if they decide to live in Pakistan.

Either way, Allah's land will be narrow and suffocating for them - in this world and in there hereafter. There is no getting away with it.

Idiots ruling the country. Good luck getting investments and remittances from overseas Pakistanis. Encourage more brain drain.

Think overseas Pakistanis should "tighten the noose" with all their legally sanctioned rights to protest around that criminal absconder in MayFair also.

Like I said, the darkest period of Pakistan's history being played out with the PDM Thuggery in control. Their time will come.

Unfortunately, their supporters dont learn. after so many years running the country into the ground, they are still out here cheering for them.

No wonder we are where we are.

Much of the money coming in to Pakistan will also dry up.

It will not dry up. People can’t stop sending money to their families. I have to send thousands of dollars every month to support my business there. I don’t want to stop it as it would make so many people who work for me, jobless.

PDM in control?

Or is it the ones who can't be named?

If you are on the army hit list would you not think twice before doing it?

Where I'm at, the army can't do anything to me as the government will get involved. I'm more worried about the people associated with me living in Pakistan and I wouldn't do anything that would get them in trouble.

For my indian friend if he wants to be become British citizen he has to renounce his indian citizenship, it should be the same for pakistanis
If you have no intentions to live pakistan you should also not have the right to vote

Let the pakistanis living in pakistan chose their leader not those who have no idea of ground reality in pakistan

Lol as if Pakistanis living in Pakistan have rights to vote.

All those who have a stake in Pakistan should choose their leader.

Just because people have left Pakistan does not mean they are not Pakistanis.

Especially in this case where you have PDM thugs running around killing and arresting Pakistanis, there needs to be a counterweight whether inside or outside Pakistan which needs to confront them.

Oh yes, their time will come inshallah.
And then, there won't be anywhere to run and no place to hide.

Even in this world, we will see where do they go when they get old, brittle and out of strength and power?

By the sane token why are politicians who have dual citizenship or own properties and whatnot allowed to run for office? Why do the pakistanis living in pakistan have to vote for leaders who all have stakes in foreign lands? Isnt that a conflict of interest as well? I am pretty sure half the sharifs and zardaris have dual nationalities.

This is a good decision. Whoever is sitting outside and then encouraging attacks and riots in another country should be considered as terrorists and should be dealt accordingly. If you want to be part of the revolution go to the country and put your life on line. Instead of that these cowards sit comfortably in another country and then push youth to throw away their lives. Now PTI leaders promptly left their parties as soon as they saw the consequences. But what about those 100s of young people whose lives are thrown away for some parties thirst for power. I would say the same if it happens to India. The people living in the country should decide what their future looks like. If overseas citizens are so concerned they are more than welcome to Coe to the country and fight for what they think is right.

It's a conflict of interest. One cannot have conviction with feet in two different boats. This is a classic reason why whenever Pakistan goes through a lean phase the elite including bureaucrats , business men , educated class find it convenient to leave Pakistan and then come back when things are conducive. You can never have full time stake and commitment from your people for your nation that way. You need to stay invested in the nation and if they want to migrate to another country(switching over citizenship) that is also fine but then they should start building their legacy in the new country of choice. This entire dual citizenship has caused immense harm to Pakistan and it's population, even those who are staying abroad with one step forward and two step backward all the time in their decision making.

You guys should reform your laws for such people in power.

You guys should reform your laws for such people in power.
How can we reform laws when a simple existing law about holding the elections (a very very important law) is not being enforced? And there are people here on this very forum who are siding with the guys enabled by the fascist military.
Its a sad state of affairs

Sounds like a classical Pakora smelling RSS ideology.
NRIs who support fascism in India to yearn for Hinduvta and Hindu raj but happily live as minority in the foreign lands, and enjoy the freedoms. They would never support an all out Christian Raj in USA because their salary comes in dollars.

As I mentioned in my post my stance is same for indians who want to influence domestic policies sitting outside India. I am glad indian doesn't have dual citizenship.

Anyway it is irrelevant as neither are overseas indians rooting for revolution and riots in india nor are they being targeted by Indian government. It's all about Pakistanis sitting in West who want to bring about revolution while pushing their country in chaos. I don't think any RSS walas will be unhappy with what overseas Pakistanis, IK and PTI are doing.

What a stupid agency, country is burning and they are after overseas Pakistanis, they are free people , you can't stop them , unlike people in Pakistan .

How you know any overseas Pakistani encouraging riots in Pakistan ??? think before yo speak , they are PTI supporters and want nothing but real democracy not dictatorship in Pakistan.

And add to my previous post there are two Pakistani families in our neighborhood and both families are huge supporters of PTI. one of them even has Imran photos and PTI flags in their living room. Although I have not seen either of them openly encourage rioting, both said multiple times that what is happening is needed for pakistan. They were happy that finally people were uprising against government. One of them also posted multiple videos in our neighborhood whatsapp group and declared that revolution is coming. It was funny as just about everyone else in the group are Indians and majority didn't know what he was forwarding. One of them reminded him of no politics or religion rule in the group and requested him to remove it. He was clearly excited.

So, yes I know few overseas Pakistanis who have either encouraged or are happy with what is happening. I don't think they want to see people dying. But they mistakenly believe that IK is leading some kind of a revolution to make pakistan a better country and all this is just collateral damage

What a stupid agency, country is burning and they are after overseas Pakistanis, they are free people , you can't stop them , unlike people in Pakistan .

They can stop them from entering Pakistan. Cancel their pakistani citizenship?
Seize their assets?

No?

Stupid fascists

I have nothing more to add to this discussion

This shows how uneducated and braindead these so called leaders of institutions are, they make the Sharifs looks smart.....on a rare occasion.

A few reasons for this absurdity and more embarrasment for Pakistan.

What is an 'Overseas Pakistani'??

This is not a legal term. Anyone with a Pakistani background , who may never have set foot in Pakistan, have no relatives, no dual nationality is still an overseas Pakistani.

If someone is a dual national, they can reject this and continue on their home passport(UK, US etc).

If someone isnt a dual national, they are not Pakistani in legal terms.

The only noose will be for Zardari, Sharifs and other crooks.

All this will do is stop people with Pakistani background visiting the broken nation, along with stop sending money over, losing billions for Pakistan.

They are clearly trying to scare those with big social media followings , not any old Arif or Sajjad.

But as the poster above you Stewie has pointed out, the leaders themselves often live abroad, including army generals who have businesses in foreign countries. In general I agree with the principle that policy at home should be decided by those who live there, but we have seen the Bhutto and Zardari clans spending money earned by Pakistanis to buy homes and investments abroad. How do they then have the nerve to call out Pakistanis abroad who often invest significant amounts in Pakistan?

Not just those families.
The army has properties in london.

Time for the people of Pakistan to stand up to the generals

It's obvious that this whole thing is to stop support for PTI - all this overseas nonsense is a smokescreen.

By bringing overseas Pakistani's into it they're trying to dry up the funding for IK/PTI.

It's the attack from all angles strategy.

I said the same thing in the first sentence there. Not only do the generals have property in London, pretty sure I heard something on here about an army official having a pizza business in the US or something of the sort.

Most of their wealth is the safe haven accounts in the Caribbean, no different to many rich people. These were introduced for this very reason, to keep stolen, criminal money safe.

These crooks think these lame threats will have an impact, when in reality it will only embolden overseas people to keep firm against them.

Btw there are some reports Nawaz Sharifs car has been attacked with some sort of foods thrown.

UK isnt Pakistan, they cannot walk the streets here without worrying about their safety and this will never change.

No PPP or PLMN fan can even raise a flag without police protection.

Who cares , unless things changes dramatically , I have no desire to go back to the occupied land , will wait , patiently . I had a plan to go there in August , not now. Will also make sure I won't send any $$ to the occupied land .

It's difficult to decide if pti supporters are stupid or act stupid, even though the bhutto and zaradari clan are investing abroad they have no rights to vote in Britain nor are they involved in British politics they are simply visitors and only have limited rights

ie Boris Johnson or trump can go pakistan can also buy properties and invest in pakistan but because they are not permanent residents of pakistan and are not intending to stay in pakistan permanently they will not have the right to vote

So the point stands if you are not permanently staying in pakistan and only visiting for a month after every 2 or 3 years you should have no rights to decide the leader in pakistan

That's a weird analogy as Zardaris and Sharifs aren't investing, they're hiding their money overseas. They loot Pakistan and go overseas whereas actual overseas Pakistanis send money home contributing significantly to the local economy. And yes the Sharifs and Zaradaris follow laws abroad, they even wait for signals to cross the road. If they did the same in Pakistan, no one would have a problem with them.

I don't visit at all, only went there because my family insisted. So I agree, i don't want any rights to vote for your country, but you should be able to make your own case. What is it? Who are you voting for and why?

he Pakistani American community is planning a bipartisan meeting of US lawmakers on Capitol Hill next month to highlight the political situation in Pakistan.

“The situation is getting worse by the day and it’s beyond the scope of only letters and tweets,” said Dr Asif Mahmood, a California Democrat who initiated the move.

“We have to move to the next step: Conference/hearing at Capitol Hill cosponsored by Rep Brad Sherman, Rep Jim Costa and me in the 3rd week of June.”

The purpose of this hearing, and other similar efforts, “is to curtail these atrocities by raising those at the highest levels or they will never stop”, he said.

A PTI leader says a demonstration will be held in Washington to show ‘support for democracy’ in Pakistan

Dr Mahmood also initiated a letter demanding unfettered democracy in Pakistan, sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken early this month with the signatures of 69 lawmakers. He now plans to send another letter to Mr Blinken, signed by prominent US Senators.

Dr Mahmood has also launched a campaign to draw attention to the ‘mysterious disappearance’ of journalist Imran Riaz Khan and the arrest and solitary confinement of Khadija Shah.

This week, the chairperson of the Pakistan caucus in Congress, Sheila Jackson Lee also joined the lawmakers who are expressing concern at reported human rights abuses in Pakistan.

“As the founder and chair of the … Congressional Pakistan caucus, I am extremely concerned about these reports,” particularly about the moves directed at the former Pakistani prime minister.

Atif Khan, a PTI leader from Texas, told Dawn that his party plans to gather 5,000 to 10,000 people in Washington next month to “show our support to democracy in Pakistan”.

Commenting on PTI USA’s activities, Michael Kugelman, a South Asia scholar at Wilson Center, Washington, said the Pakistan diaspora in the US has been strongly pro-Imran Khan for years.

“PTI has long had a large support base and membership —including some key leaders — here. That trend will likely intensify with the exodus of Insafians from Pakistan, many coming here. It could become a party in exile in the US,” he wrote in a tweet.

Leaders of the Pakistani community, however, point out that as the community grows its roots in the US, it has increased its participation in American politics as well.

“These people are here to stay. Now, they will have a say in every major issue,” said another scholar, Arif Jamal. “The Pakistani government will have to learn to deal with them.”

The most influential among the Pakistani Americans are physicians of Pakistani origin — estimates about them vary from 15,000 to 30,000.

“They have the resources to court US lawmakers, hold fund-raisers and solicit votes for them,” said political activist Khawar Mehdi. “And in return, they demand and get their support on the issues that concern them.”

Since Imran Khan’s ouster, PTI has formed a new group, Physicians for Khan and, according to him, 1,800 Pakistani physicians have already joined this group.

None of this is going to make any difference. The Biden administration is not interested in Pakistan at all anymore especially since the Afghanistan withdrawal. Also Biden despises IK and did not bother speaking to IK at all since taking charge. Democrats have historically been anti Pakistan in comparison to Republicans.

And why would US (or any foreign power) bail out IK after all the accusations thrown out by him regarding international interference? IK has burnt a lot of bridges internationally- now nobody will intervene, not even China!

he burnt bridges locally aswell.

This is what his fans dont understand, a party without a majority picking useless fights while having no power, influence or anything. Was a puppet and was disposed off by the masters.

This is why in politics you work with people not burn bridges. And in diplomacy, you never leak messages, thats a NONO

Great decision. Hopefully FIA is on the watch at airports

So you support fascist policies as long as they go against your ideological rivals? You do realize this can have spillover effects and will only strengthen the establishment's grip over Pakistan, right?

If they can silence the most popular political party in Pakistan what makes you think they won't do the same to PDM when it eventually gets overconfident and steps out of line? At least PTI has some political power behind it and these attacks aren't going unnoticed but if the same happens to PDM they will be helpless.

You won't see hoards of people coming out to protest for PDM leader's arrests, this isn't the pre or early 2000s anymore.

atleast PDM wont quit there party over 2 days of jail, unlike PTI.

The argument above i gave for PTI 2 years ago, do you admit PTI did a big mistake by giving the army more power?

atleast PDM wont quit there party over 2 days of jail, unlike PTI.

Were PDM members ever asked to leave their parties? To my knowledge, they were only ever arrested due to their corruption.

For Nawaz Sharif, you can find 4 major corruption cases against him. Panama, Avenfield, Steel Mills, and the Flagship Investment case.

Each of these cases also criminalizes Nawaz Sharif's family as they were involved according to the case documents. Maryam Nawaz was caught forging fake documents mid court trial.

The argument above i gave for PTI 2 years ago, do you admit PTI did a big mistake by giving the army more power?

Did they? The military has always controlled every democratic party in Pakistan. What's happening now isn't new.

The reason why PTI was removed in the first place is that they were not as easy to control as PDM would be. Right now what you are seeing from PDM is them doing the military's bidding with no will of their own(explains the state of the economy), this is why I think supporting PTI's current narrative is in the interest of every Pakistani in the long run. Do you want PDM to have control? Then you better not support them when they are in complete control of the establishment.

There is no independent move by PDM, it doesn't even feel like Shahbaz is the PM.

With PTI you could tell it was them making most of the decisions when they had the government.

The establishment is in a pickle right now. They can't take out IK because that would cause too much chaos so they are trying to take everyone around him, by using fascist means of course.

The establishment is in a pickle right now. They can't take out IK because that would cause too much chaos so they are trying to take everyone around him, by using fascist means of course.

You need to read on about PMLN and PPP history, Zardari was placed in solitary confinement for 7 years and rest of the years in jail. His tongue was cut.

PTI wasnt easy to control? Where are you coming with this stuff? PTI was the puppet of Bajwa, he passed army act for bajwa, got him an extention and allowed Bajwa to do whatever he wanted. PTI only got remvoed when the army decided not to help PTI due to the economic crises PTI led Pakistan to.

Zardari(Mr 10%) might be the most corrupt person in Pakistan's history.

The two dynasties you've mentioned are currently abiding by the establishment's every command in exchange for a clean slate. So blame PDM for bowing down to their own torturer.

You think the establishment cares about the economy? Have you been living under a rock for the past year?

In what world does negative growth in GDP, export, import, investment, remittance, industry, etc, equate to solving an economic crisis? Inflation is near 50%, anyone slightly competent is leaving the country and I'm supposed to believe all this is happening to save Pakistan's economy.

You have to reevaluate your own opinion. It's like you're shooting yourself in the foot by supporting these economic hitmen.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that PTI wasn't removed due to its economic performance, because if it was then PDM would've been removed 10 times over by now.

he burnt bridges locally aswell.

This is what his fans dont understand, a party without a majority picking useless fights while having no power, influence or anything. Was a puppet and was disposed off by the masters.

This is why in politics you work with people not burn bridges. And in diplomacy, you never leak messages, thats a NONO

So true. 101

Tongue was cut?

Yup, when the Nawaz govt jailed Zardarim they used to torture him and keep in solitary confinement. One time they cut is tongue from the middle. Didnt cut it off, but inflicted a wound on it. There are pics of it on google

106 accounts blocked over ‘anti-state’ activities

Over 100 social media accounts have been blocked for promoting sectarianism, anti-sta**te, terrorist, and anti-Islam activities, at the request of the capital police.

Police officers said that, so far, 106 social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have been blocked through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The step was taken in response to the findings of the Provisional of Violent Extremism Unit (PVE) of capital police’s Counter*terrorism Dep*art*ment (CTD), police officers said.

“The PVE is monitoring the individual’s social media accounts involved in different illegal activities, including sectarianism, anti-state, terrorism, and anti-Islam.”

So far, the unit had recommended to block 203 accounts — 164 Twitter, 38 Facebook, and one YouTube, of which 106 had been blocked by now, the officers said.

In this regard, separate requests were sent by the Counter*terrorism Dep*art*ment to the FIA for the closure of each account with the details, along with screenshots of illegal activities.

That is despicable.

How/why on earth would Zardari even want to sit at the same table with Nawaz and his cronies?

That’s not that hard to understand. Imran is out for now but in politics there can always be a come back. And when does come back he will also sit down on the same table with his torturers the army . That’s part of being in politics.

Politics.

Najem Sethi was hanged upside down by Nawaz Shareef.

But today Zardari is part of the eastablishment while PMLN is not.

Seems politics in Pakistan has absolutely nothing to do with actual Democracy and people's voting rights.

Also, its clear that there are still people in Pakistan that will support thuggery, criminality and celebrate or gloat over the non existence of law; they will package it as being politically savvy without actually asking why the people they support didn't even try to implement change when in power.

Rather then blackmailing judges, buying biriani for voters and stealing billions from the country, some people would rather have these criminals in charge then actually want change so that a person, no matter what their background, can actually progress in life due to the effort they put in rather then the level of their criminality.

They will live a happy live post retirement.

Money can buy everything.

There is a viral video circulating of Bajwa and his family being ridiculed in France. I wish there was another way to show mirror to this man but such humiliation is not in best of taste.

On flip side Qamar Zaman was totally embarrassed in Norway over the weekend. This is the type of peaceful protest I completely endorse. Qamar Zaman was trying to deliver a speech in a garden whilst peaceful protesters outside the complex totally made their voices heard. It was a moment of sheer embarrassment. Not sure why these PDM losers believe they can woo the public they cannot do this within Pakistan let alone doing that outside of Pakistan.

There is another update that Pakistan diaspora in US has got their voices heard within enough number of congress people that the US congress would now take up the matter where it would be discussed and debated that US technology and other benefits given to Pakistan be curtailed in future. On flip side there are strong voices in Australian Parliament mostly negative about Pakistan and they are contemplating a ban on diplomats visiting Australia from Pakistan.

Overall these are immensely negative news which local Pakistani would not even get to know about as there is a severe crackdown on electronic and print media within Pakistan. This entire stunt of VONC and then May 9th has pegged our country a decade back already and its not yet finished.

I fear the current regime have massively miscalculated. There is an ingrained anti Pakistani lobby within most western Parliaments and this sort of stuff will be lapped up. The very people who could have been galvanised to help Pakistan are being turned against it. Its madness. They think things will just go on as they have in the past and for a short time they may be right but this is a marathon not a sprint. Things take time. They ignore the modern world at their peril.

The Pakistani diaspora is slowly making waves now and in this age you can organise very quickly. The Indians have already sold the choran that Pakistan is controlled by the military etc and this very narrative will now be used by the diaspora. Its heartbreaking but in the long term should prove to be beneficial.

As for Kaira. Lol his family tried to steal Land off one of my great Aunts. She was furious. Went over to see Kaira and gave him a piece of her mind. Once he realised who she was and from what family they let things go..they are two bit thugs..their time is up..they just don't know it yet..

Also one other thing. Of they think they won't be next they have another thing coming. Every single one of them is on fauj list..sooner or later..

What’s this? An opportunity to hurl abuse at Nawaz Sharif for the sake of it?

Its 2023 British Pakistanis have a decent amount of political power, the turnout should be decent on Sunday.

I didnt realise Nawaz also has a flat in the houses of parliament?

Hurling abuse at Nawaz doesnt work, the man has no self respect, aka bhaigarhat admi.

Problem is, people worried about who shouts what at Nawaz but we have the country being destroyed by a bunch of corrupt amateurs - no one seems to give a toss for the ordinary people in Pakistan

This is the true face of the tragedy facing the country.

Inflation across the country continued to break all records as the annual rate accelerated 39.26% while the weekly one crawled up by 0.21%.

As the federal government announced its budget with the promise of providing relief to the poor people and taxing the rich, the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Friday revealed that the prices of 21 essential items witnessed an increase this week.

Among individuals earning a monthly income ranging from Rs17,733 to Rs22,888, the inflation rate stood at 41.06%. During the recent week, the prices of 21 essential items saw an upward trend, while that of 10 items witnessed a decrease. On the other hand, 20 commodities’ prices remained stable.

Bajwa and NS share the same " quality ".

‘No list of expats being made for prosecution’

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has dispelled the impression that law enforcement agencies are preparing a list of overseas Pakistanis, who will be prosecuted for participating in anti-government rallies when they return home.

“The government is not considering any action against overseas Pakistan as they are our valuable assets,” said Mr Tarar while addressing Pakistani community at the embassy on Friday.

The rumours, that started after the May 9 violence, also advised dual citizens not to travel to Pakistan on Pakistani passports as doing so would allow authorities to arrest them.

The speculations were so strong that even US officials were forced to clarify that they never advised American citizens of Pakistani origin on how to travel to Pakistan and how to avoid getting arrested.

Mr Tarar said the government was “taking action but only against those who set fire to government properties”.

He said overseas Pakistanis had every right to “participate in the political process in Pakistan,” but they should avoid getting involved in “hasty and thoughtless actions that can be detrimental to democracy and the democratic process.”

The government, he said, was considering various proposals to give overseas Pakistanis the right to vote, but “the consensus of all political forces is needed to make a better strategy.”

Later, Mr Tarar met Republican and Democratic members of the US Congress and explained the government’s position on the current political dispute. He also met an official of the US State Department’s Legal Bureau Richard Wyske.
