Justcrazy - no, Memons speak Memoni, which is a mixture of Sindhi and Gujurati.

Haa, Junaid ji saari bowling must aye final mein. InshaAllah paan jiti winnay. Aoon kaal InshaAllah subha jo 7 bajay uthi winnos, kullay ke Canada jo 3:30 AM te match shuru thi winnos. :)

(Tried my best to type in Memoni as much as I can :yk)

I am memom (well half).

Funny thing is, there is no such language as Memoni. What you guys are all conversing in is basically Kutchi. It's the language (or dialect) spoken mainly in Kutch (now in India), but spoken around the lower area of Sindh as well.

Because most Memons are from there, and we have a thing about being Memon, we decided to call the language itself Memoni. But speak to anyone from Kutch, or around that area, and they all speak the same langauge. That includes Kutchi Khojas (Ismailis/Aga Khanis), and Hindus.

My mothers family is Katiawari Memon (not from Kutch), so we speak Katiawari/Gujarati. Lots of Khojas (Ismaili/Aga Khanis) tend to be from there too. :jinnah

Always found it annoying that everyone presumed because we are Memon, we speak so called 'Memoni'.

We know about the history of Kutch as well that doesn't mean Memoni doesn't exist. It's there for ages now.

Of course it exists.....

But its the equivalent of Aga Khanis suddenly started referring to Katiawari Gujarati as Aga Khani. It's not....its Katiawari.

Obviously, nothing will change now. Memons will call it Memoni.

Just making a point that its not really 'Memoni' or exclusive to Memons. And Memons who are historically from other areas outside Kutch, do not speak 'Memoni'. So the logic of labelling a language after a certain 'group', when the language is neither exclusive to that particular group (and probably spoken more widely by non-Memons), nor the language spoken by all members of that group, is a bit flawed.

Every language is not exclusive in the world then. When something comes up it definitely is a mixture of something that doesn't mean that's not exclusive.

You cannot paint something also if other colours are not mixed with it.
