Are Bangladesh a more exciting LOI team than Pakistan?

I personally love watching Bangladesh play LOI these days. The young batsmen they have these days are aggressive and inventive. The likes of Afif, Nurul, Shamin, and Soumya look super exciting and talented to me.

Afif in particular plays some extraordinary shots. I mean who would have thought a young Bangladeshi batsmen would have the confidence to scoop Starc for boundaries? Naim is pleasing on the eye and has an excellent temperament.

Surely they are far more watchable and exciting than Pakistan?

Bangladesh are a good home side, but on other grounds they flop. Pakistan would wallop this Aussie side.

Banga are far better than Pakistan, Australia would have no trouble smashing Pakistan anywhere.

Personally Pakistan in current form are better than us in LOIs. We are currently having a period of rather weak batting because of injuries and poor team selection. If we overcome these injury issues, and pick the right players I think we can be a decent team. I actually enjoy watching Pakistan, especially babar azam bat. I hate how inhuman Babar Azam is, he should not be allowed to bat the way he is batting.

I think Pakistan are always unpredictable and thus exciting. I am not referring to consistency here. I am referring to X factor.

Does that not apply to Australia England as well?

Touche. They are equally bad on spinning wickets.

Well done on the victory today!

I do hate it when Asian sides get scrutiny for not performing on away tracks but when SENA players don't perform on sub-continent wickets everyone is blind to this and gives the home side no credit for their victory.

Bangladesh remain in my view a very good home side in limited overs cricket and on some away conditions can create problems. Test cricket they have a way to go.

This is a subcontinental trait where we suffer from inferiority complex when it comes to white people. White people play pace well (not for genetics ofcourse) so that means struggling against pace is heresy but struggling vs spin is fine.

From the Australia side that played vs us today, 10 of them have played in IPL. Only two from Bangladesh. Now i dont deny that Starc Warner Smith arent good for IPL, but most of their batsman are bang average in these conditions but still IPL teams be shilling for Aus boys. And it is not endemic to IPL a (I enjoy watching IPL)

Very true my dig was more at the charlatan that is Ian Chappell who gives Pak flak for not performing in Australia but when Australia come over to us and get beat then he goes mute.

This is like one of those threads like Afghanistan has better talent then Pakistan threads.

Comical really.

Bangladesh is a decent team, but I think Pakistan is way better. Especially in T20.

Bangladesh are a good team but Pakistan is way better than bangaldesh In all three formats.

Bangladesh are not an exciting team, they don't have any impact or star players. Haven't seen anyone who can go boom boom like Afridi or bowl 160 kph like Akhtar (genetically impossible for Bangladeshis). To be frank only interesting matches are New Zealand, India and England matches.

The only man who always sees through the **, a true OG.

There sure was a lot of excitement with the BD team today. They showed how to loose a match

I though this BD-Scotland match would be a one sided boring match, but BD made is so exciting , they are an exciting team.

The only feeling I get when hearing Bangladesh 😂😂😂😂😂

Pakistan are one level above Bangladesh thanks to likes of Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheen.

One level? Seriously?

We have won all limited overs icc trophies, bangladesh hasnt won a single one. We are in the main tournament, while bangladesh is playing a qualifier.

Its more like scotland is one level above bangladesh

I was referring to rankings.

Bangladesh were #6 in T20 ranking before this game and #7 in ODI ranking.

At present, in terms of strengths, Bangladesh are one level behind Pakistan.

i never get this excited even for Pak games, very exciting indeed. They turned an otherwise what would have been a onesided dull day into a banger of a day...

Likes of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and West Indies have regressed.

It is not that BD have improved significantly. It is just that some other teams have regressed (including Pakistan).

The game was a lot closer because Mushfiq was lucky with an umpires call decision.

Bangladesh were never in this chase whatsoever!

Stop digging the hole further and further. Look at Pakistan’s ranking..

LOL. What digging?

If you check my posts, I have criticized Bangladesh team many times.

All teams after top 4 (India, England, Australia, and NZ) are pretty ordinary currently.

There are some Bangladesh players who actually think they are better than what they really are.

The likes of Shakib and Mushfiqur have performed many times over the years, but far too many others have gone missing when the team really needed them to perform.

lol

By all means believe this if it makes you feel better :))

No. Pak are much more exciting to watch then Bang are.

Bangladesh have got a decent 50 over team in home conditions where they may give most teams a good competition including Pakistan. Any other format, place they are far behind. Its mostly their own doing by playing LOI cricket in extreme home conditions and not getting used to more normal conditions for LOI cricket.

God knows what they were doing making rank turners for T20s. They have paid a heavy price by losing to Scotland which is a humiliation.

Can understand them doing do in test cricket to bridge the gap between top teams, but to do so in a volatile format like T20 cricket, where the gap between a top team and an average team is far less and it is not really difficult for upsets to happen, it showed a deep insecurity in their mindset and ability to win matches even at home.

I'm not a hater of Bangladesh cricket and I remember when they used to play some attacking cricket in LOIs around 2015 when they knocked England out of the World cup and beat top teams at home in ODI series, I really admired the way they played ODI cricket. This team seems to think it can only win a frigging T20 game by preparing rank turners, which is why I didn't read too much into their results against Aus and NZ. Good thing the tourists didn't bother sending their best sides either and frankly, I wouldn't blame them.

Of-course all teams do it in Tests which is also getting extreme for my liking but you don't mind it so much. But T20 cricket or 50 over cricket is designed for certain types of pitches and to make such rank turners and low bounce pitches for T20s totally beat the purpose of playing T20s in the first place.

No.

Pakistan at their best are a far more exciting team on and off-field both. You watch the best spells of Amir or Shaheen or Wahab or even their spinners like Yasir, it is comfortably far more entertaining than what Bangladesh produces. In the batting department also, watching Babar bat is far more pleasing to eyes than watching Shakib for example or anyone else for that matter.

Moreover, it is also extremely exciting when you watch them at their worst too. That Maxwell over as an example and Afridi's stare after the whole drama was pretty entertaining stuff.

I think the time when the format meant lesser teams had a chance against the bigger teams has passed.
A good T20 team will almost always beat a minnow team.
The top teams have improved immeasurably in the T20 format which is why you hardly see a minnow beating a top team these days.

I find Bangladesh to be rather boring to watch. Even Scotland defeated them:kohli

Agreed. Bangladeshi players won't even be selected in a ranji match, 20+ years of playing cricket I haven't seen any improvement at all. I hope Oman beats Bangladesh and knock them out, we need new players and need to replace the old useless players like Mushfiq, Riyad, Soumya etc. These players think they are superstars while in reality I doubt they would even make the Oman team 🤝

Huge pressure on Bangladesh tonight in their game against Oman. First real fun game to watch this tournament.

The game was a lot closer because Mushfiq was lucky with an umpires call decision.

Bangladesh were never in this chase whatsoever!

As per Mamoon, Mushfiq has a higher pedigree than all Pakistani batsmen.

So three games each...

Pakistan: 3 wins v India, New Zealand and Afghanistan
Bangladesh: 3 defeats v Sri Lanka, England and West Indies. Prior to that they lost to Scotland but beat Oman and Papua New Guinea.

Does anyone still think Bangladesh are a more exciting LOI team than Pakistan?

Bangladesh are now on par with associates but are probably better than Zimbabwe.

Pakistan are now among top 5 again after being #6 for a while.

So, yeah. No comparison currently.
