To beat Saffers,SL in the group stage and then to convincingly beat England in the semifinal whom nobody had beaten until now is some achievement. Regardless of who you play in the final(BD,India), can Pakistan be counted as the favourites?

Premature ! Pakistan may have beaten England today, but the day of the final would be a new day with a new opponent.

I would have never thought Pakistan would win CT. I would have always gone for OZ,England and India in that order. But this Pakistani team has taken everyone by surprise today.

Yeah, they're on a roll. And when Pakistan get on a roll they make sure they get on a PROPER roll in spite of everything else and usually go on to win the thing.

No, not against India.

But they have made me so proud even if they don't win it.

Law of averages about to get caught with pakistan, they've already won too many games for their rank, also the pressure of facing India :yk2 :srini

Pakistan bowling has been the best in CT17 so far.. they could run through the Indian batting as well.

It's possible

Yeah it's hard to stop a Pakistani team on a roll like that. Just like at the 2009 World T20. When they click as a unit , they are extremely dangerous.

It happens even in Test cricket. Recall that 3-0 whitewash of England when they were #1 a few years ago? Or the numerous test wins in India and England against every odd?

Only Pakistan can pull those results off.

Pakistan despite being underdogs against India in recent matches couldn't take pressure and capitulated. Now with the extra expectations of potentially beating India in the final, don't think Pakistan can handle it. India will go into the final with clear favourites.

Pakistani bowlers are the only ones that gave been able to reverse the ball.

I wouldn't be surprised if they win the CT17.. fairy tale turnaround for Pakistan

It is, the law of averages supports India to win 3 games in a row given their rank, pak on the other hand :yk

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Dhawan is overdue for a duck and we're still carrying an off-colour Sharma, Yuvraj and Dhoni, besides the plethora of bits and piece nobodies in Kedar Jhadav and Hardik Pandya.

How is the weather in Lahore my friend? Dhaka maybe?

I know your tactics of overhyping pakistan before a big India-Pak match to jinx them and it has worked greatly till now :yk, but that's just not me, I say it as I see it, we got all the bases covered, pak got no chance :srini

Pakistan have been a quality test team in the UAE. But it's after a long team I'm seeing a PAK ODI team playing with such belief . Maybe since 2005 tour of India when they beat us in our own backyard

Indian fans are scared yes !

I will tell you, this time many Indians (in their heart of hearts ) have a gut feeling that this time it might not BE

Have you forgotten 2012? #AaneDo

They have played this way in 2011 world cup till the semi final and also many times after that. The thing is it turned out to be mostly flash in the pan and mostly due to momentum that gets generated due to winning some close matches. You will see that the quality of players etc never changed or improved to indicate that there will be any level of consistency to this effort.

No IMO Pakistan haven't played consistently good ODI cricket since 2005 when you were ranked no.2 in the Inzi/Woolmer era. 2011 World Cup was Pakistan kicking above their weight thanks to Ajmal and a peak Afridi/Gul. Pakistan s ODI record in the last 10 years has been woeful . However, this tournament has actually been some of the best cricket I've seen played by Pakistan in years thanks mainly to a bowling attack led by Hassan Ali.

Pakistan look quality until they face India. Pakistan should protest that they shouldn't be in the same group of India. This is a conspiracy by ICC to mentally destabilize Pakistan.

Indians we have held up our end of the bargain, now you also need to do the needful and beat Bangla boys.

Wont mind facing the Deshis either because they have also been running their mouths quite a lot recently.

Yes.... Pakistan are the favourites now .. Fakhar, Hasan Ali, Rumman are performing brilliantly .... And India might not even reach the finals !

Obvious jinx thread is obvious.

I have roundly criticized this team over the course of this tournament but they were utterly special today in that inimitable Pakistan style and I doubt any team could have lived with them. However, we all know how easily things can go pear-shaped in a final.

Bit of a 50:50 there, we need our batting to stand up and score faster, at the rate they did a few seasons ago. Otherwise Bangladesh, like Lanka, can pull the wool over us as they have done with increasing regularity over the past few years.

I think that Indian mauling woke up a beast within the Pakistani nation and team. The last time this beast was woken up when we were nearing elimination in the 2009 T20 WC. As they say, the rest is history.

India/Bangladesh, beware. You have been warned.

Pak surely are the Champions. I am ready to have a bet, Bangladesh will defeat India and Pak will crush BD in the finals

The beast will again be slapped and tamed and tied to a corner by the Indian rockstars :srini

No , Oval is a batting wicket and India or Bangladesh have better batsmen than us. i m just happy that we are in the final.

Kohli is still scratchy and not to his usual self. Rohit is misbah reincarnated these days and dhawan, inspite of his stellar records in knockouts can leave us wanting anytime. Yuvi and dhoni blow hot & cold, honestly No way in hell I see these guys taking on hasan & co. this time even wahab is not in the eleven to save us.

So yeah, Pakistan are firm favourites to win this thing.

tomorrow's winner has to be bangladesh. That is the only way pakistan can win CT

I'm going to continue operating on my system of low expectations and expecting the worst. If we fail miserably I wont be as heartbroken. If we come roaring through any opposition I'll be absolutely elated. There's no other way to be a Pak cricket fan and retain your sanity to be honest.

after 3 very good performances from England they lose in the 4 game

same thing will happen to Pakistan :)

Pakistan are red hot favorites to win the CT. Played extremely well today to beat Eng.

Congratulations!

no. batting form favors india (if they get through). but if its bangladesh we might be a little more confident.

According to the bookies, if India and Pakistan play in the finals, it is India 63%, Pakistan 37%.

Pakistan's odds have improved considerably from their first game against India, where they were only at 30%.

A win probability of 37% is pretty good, Pakistan going into today's game were only around 30%.

As I said before, I have had the WT20 2009 vibe for a while. I think we will pull it off, regardless of who we face in the final.

They are favourites in the sense that the other teams have to win two matches and Pakistan only has to win one. But come Saturday they will not be favourites and maybe they prefer it that way.

With this bowling attack it will take a utterly disgusting batting from us to be defeated otherwise no is defeating pak

The bowling and fielding has to be spot on like the last 3 matches.

Proud of them regardless even if they don't win come Sunday.

No. They have been lucky so far. India is going to beat them comfortably in the final.

You make your own luck. You mean they have been lucky that they won against SA, SL and now England. BD on the other hand have been really lucky as 4 overs could have sealed their fate. ;)

It would be 55/45 in favour of India. A lot of that is to do with how they maintain a placid mindset in the middle. On the flipside, india has to get it wrong once, Pakistan has already exceeded all expectations, the pressure has drastically abated.

The best team should and will win. I just hope it's a tough game and not a one sided affair.

If India wins against Bangladesh then I hope Pakistan wins the trophy. They will be up for it. It's about time India loses a game to Pakistan. It's going to happen sooner or later. It's really great to see regardless that 3 Asian teams have made it to the semi-finals of an ICC event and that too held in England. Sri Lanka also could have but only 1 spot was up for grabs for the final semi final spot.
