Considering the massive matches Pakistan have let slip from strength, recently World Cup final 2007 T20, emi final v Australia 1990, 2010, 2015 and 2021, Mohali and every other Indian meeting at WC.

Taking away the seriously streaky '92 success and relative strength, Pakistan are at least as much of not more bottlers than Proteas.

On flipside, Pakistan should comfortably be third in World Cup successes. Even CT came belatedly in 2017.

We only bottle to Australia and to India in WCs. Against Australia we’ve been like SAF.

I don’t consider 2007 final a bottle. We were 6 wickets down before getting to a 100 and India should’ve finished the job. India almost bottled it if Misbah had gotten away with that heist of a run chase.

Better example would be 1996 semi vs India. Had the chase under control till the Aamer Sohail wicket.

NZ and SA are the bottlers. Their record is something else when it comes to finals, semi finals, close games etc. I don’t know how NZ fans recover from so many losses in crunch moments to be honest

We won 92, 2009, and 20q7.

The way you put it, that way every team bottles an icc match. There is only one winner.

India has bottled it many times, so has sri lanka in finals. England as well in 2016.

South Africa and nz will have this tag as they haven't won any icc tournament, no has won test championship though.

South Africa gets this tag because South Africa has had teams that were capable of challenging Australia's early 2000 team yet SA never won icc tournaments.

Don't know if knock out tournament counts

How are we bottlers when we have won 3 ICC trophies? If its the matches then every team has bottled matches throughout decades.

We have more ICC trophies than SA ( Nill ) , NZ ( One champions trophy) & Eng.

Not all the losses are chokes. SA defined what choking is. Agreed 1992 was not their fault. They were all set to win that match. But 1999 it was a case of batsmen losing their head which resulted in a run out. 2003 was the most epic choke of all. It was technical choking. As per duckworth lewis target was 230. Par score was 229 by 45th over. At 44.5 overs SA was 229. Boucher thought they have already won and defended the last ball lol It knocked them out. Then in 2011 they were on their way to thump NZ with 100 odd runs (AB & Kallis batting) chasing a meagre total of 220 odd. A wicket and followed by a run out triggered a collapse. and they lost by a huge margin. IN 2015 so many elementary fielding errors from top fielders cost them the game.
In 2007 World T20 against India , SA just had to lose gracefully to advance to the next round. India posted a modest total of 154, All SA had to do was reach 126 runs and lose they will advance to next round. in no time they were 34/5. RP sing was wreaking havoc. That was no ordinary line up. ABDV/Smith/Pollock/Kallis/Gibbs/Kemp/Boucher. They got shot out for 116. Missed the boat by 10 runs.

That is India's territory these days. Bumrah is the flag bearer. Atleast they used to reach the later stages before bottling, nowadays it is group stage choking.

To be a bottler, you have to be the favorites something Pakistan hasn't been for quite a while.

2013 ct, 2015wc, 2016 wt20 = we were simply a very poor team.

2012 wt20 2014 wt20 = we lost to better teams in the knockouts/virtual knockouts.

2019 wc = we weren't really expected to qualify in the first place. But we punched above the weight honestly.

2007 final, 2011 semi = we were facing evenly challenging teams. these three were the only three times we sort of choked.

2010 wt20 = we had won only 2 games out of 5 before the semi. No way were we going to do any better. Although we batted very well in the semi, our lack of pace bowling showed and cost us in the semi. Amir and Razzaq were the only two pacers and Razzaq wasn't a reliable death over option. Plus we started that game awfully as well. We had scored 1 run in first 2 overs.

Pakistan have definitely underachieved given the enormous talent they have produced in last 40 years. However, it is wrong to call them bottler at the moment.

<B>Most ICC Trophies won( Men's):</B>

Total = WC+WT20+CT+WTC
Australia - 5+1+2+0 = 8
Windies - 2+2+1+0 = 5
India - 2+1+2+0 = 5 :inti
Pakistan - 1+1+1+0= 3 :inti
Sri Lanka - 1+1+1+0 = 3
England - 1+1+0+0 = 2
New Zealand - 0+0+1+1= 2
South Africa - 0+0+1+0= 1

Post 2013 CT, India have bottled 2 ICC tournaments - 2014 T20 World Cup and the 2017 CT.

Every other time we were not good enough

2016 - After getting a good enough score and getting Gayle out cheaply they just choked after the first sign of assault from Lendl Simmons

2019 - It was not a big score to chase. Top order could have shown some test match temparament. Instead they collapsed.

2014 was definitely a choke from our side and so was 2017 CT.

2019- I think we should have won semis but England were overall better team.

2021 WTC - NZ in swing/seam conditions were better than us.

2016- We were one man team. That lineup had Rahane, Pandey, Jadeja, Dhoni and the Pandya-KL- Bumrah trio were rookies. Rohit also was among the ranks and not necessarily up there with the best in the world.

Both teams played bad. But Pakistan were still the better team. Its just that they choked real bad at crucial moments.

The no ball six and the wide from Nawaz at the end were too much for Pakistan to overcome in the end.

Kohli played a blinder and Ashwin was cool enough to play the last 2 balls smartly unlike Karthik.

Not surprised they choked this. These boys are mentally extremely weak. This match was very important as these 2 points were necessary to progress, as South Africa is expected to destroy us.

Australia in 2021WC

Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2022

Now, India in 2022WC

We will keep choking until our players truly start to believe in themselves.

Rauf lost his nerve. Kohli deserves some respect today. A legend elevates himself

Move on SA, Pakistan are the new chokers

Multiple chokes. More so than SA.
1996 QF - last two overs
1999 WC final after an overall strong performance and very strong SF
2003 against India
2007 vs Ireland
2007 vs India x 2
2010 T20 SF Australia
2011 - vs India SF - THIS ONE HURT THE MOST

**then we were OK for a while. We sucked, but didn't choke***

Recent:
2021 WC SF vs Australia.
2022 Asia Cup - Sri Lanka final Asia Cup
2022 T20 WC - India and Zim - big game losses.

Reason:

Mental strength and handling pressure.

Why is this a thing all of a sudden?

Hate to say, is this the Sarfraz effect?

Is this due to lack of senior leadership and experience like Malik, Hafeez, and Sarfraz?

Maybe Wahab Riaz?

I remember Wahab bringing us back in many crucial games like India SF 2011, WC QF 2015 and WC 2019 against England and Afghanistan (when he hit six against Rashid).

Maybe their absence and cool heads is the reason between win and loss in crunch games.

I look at our team, and Babar is the most senior!!!! How the heck did that happen?
