Are there halal restaurants which offer Iftar Buffet in Ramadan? So basically they prepare different foods and snacks for Iftar and also make arrangements for muslims to pray there. Muslims come in before Iftar, pay the charges, finish the fast, eat different foods, pray Mughrib Salah and then go home. Is there something like this available? I am looking at Greater Toronto Area. Do other countries also have such thing?

Toronto is full of such places bud, name a cuisine and you will have an option

You aren't from Toronto or live in Toronto if you have to ask that. Literally every plaza in Toronto has halal restaurant.

I spent a summer in Toronto and you just need to search it up once and you'll find an endless list of options near you.

do you literally live in astore?

During the summers, yes. At the very least, one month a year. Rest of the year I'm in Islamabad, if in Pakistan.

By the way, I'm not originally from Astore or anywhere in the North of Pakistan. We just have a small house there because of the beauty and serenity of the place. It's a good, heavenly place to spend your free time.

Yes I spent a month last year in Hunza

Very relaxing, peaceful place and Im sure if one had their own house it would be unbelievable

Surely is. Its very hard to maintain though. And you can barely visit in the winters.

My mother had this made years ago before this side of Pakistan as even known and the farthest people would go to would be Muree or Naran Kaghan.

And spending a month in Hunza would have been great. I've visited Hunza too. Did you go with family or friends?

Friends. Actually 2 weeks. 2 weeks were in murrie. friend has a house there.

hunza was great but it was too far. like getting there was khwari.

murree you can get from islamabad in 2 hrs but its very awaami so i didnt enjoy it apart from weather. but my friends family got the house in 1970s so i imagine back then it was quiet and much better.

Yeah, understandably so. Getting to Islamabad itself from Karachi is a lot of khwari let alone Hunza. What we do usually is that we get a plane ticket to Gilgit, which doesn't cost much and then drive down to Rama, Astore by booking a 4-wheeler SUV. Or, we drive there ourselves in our own SUV but that isn't too cost effective because 1) It takes 2-3 days MINIMUM to get there and if there's a landslide or a snowstorm or any natural disaster, it takes even long so that means longer stays in hotels which means its more expensive. 2) No matter how good your own SUV, you can have a Mercedes G class or a Land Rover but your car will never be good enough for the off-roading that you will need to do on the way to the North of Pakistan.

But I am not asking for any halal restaurant (which there are many in Greater Toronto Area). I am asking for only those halal restaurants which serve an Iftar Buffet option in Ramadan.

Alhamdulillah, so many places in the GTA for Iftar. I would go on and say that there are so many halal restaurants (with every single cuisine in the world) that one doesn't have excuse to eat Mcdonalds or haram meat.

I highly recommend Kebab 49, their Iftar is great, food is amazing, and its like going to Turkey. lol. Inshallah I should be visiting more places when I am back there end of Ramadan.

It is quite a recent restaurant. Was there less than a month ago. Its amazing. And yes it is halal, I have seen the certificate myself. Also it was posted by one of the halal foodie on Instagram, and that's how I learnt.

Also the link provided is old. Black Ox Bistro is closed now :)

In Cape Town we have an old train that is converted into a restaurant

Various coaches serve different dishes

My favourite is Biesmiellah Foods . Celebrated for its Cape Town Malay cuisine, Biesmiellah specialises in food with Bangladeshi, Pakistani and South-East Indian influences. Specialities include chicken curry, tomato bredie and famous rotis. Convenient family meals can also be purchased for takeaways.

There is also an ice cream parlor in Islamabad which was earlier a train cabin. Major DW44 would know.

You grew up in F-7? That explains a lot.

Haha no. I meant I was there most of the time. It used to be the most happening place and wasn't known to people other than those living in Islamabad.

any places there are significant Muslim populatiob particularly Desi Muslims there will be restaraunts doing Iftari. Its become quite popular for friends and families to have Iftari at restaraunts. Saves Mum from cooking and being able to relax for a day.

Where i live within 5 mile radius there are at least 10 restaraunts that offer Iftari ka intazam.

Avoid Steakout in Luton at Iftar time, probably the worst arrangements for rozaidaar i have ever seen from a Muslim run establishment, no dates or complimentary snacks offered, food ordered for iftar arrives at the table over 45 minutes late with no real sincere apology offered from the staff.

You passed the test. :angelo I literally grew up there. Most Islamabadis did..

I have been in Islamabad a long long time ago, they have like area codes right? such as D47 etc am not sure lol it was similar to post codes in the UK, have some family who bought property there they like the modern feel but I preferred the pind while I was there :yk the country side was so beautiful in Gujar Khan, you just feel like a free spirit

I've been to the Nawabz in Manchester enjoyed it but I've heard that the one in London is not that great?

Nawabz is probably the best halal buffet in the UK, ones in Brum are awful Big Mac although Jimmy Spices is ok, there is another one I think in Alum Rock which is also ok but the rest are bad

Been to both Nawaabs in London and Manchester a few times, they are both good but Manchester one is slightly better tastewise, both expensive though @ £20 per head.

Nawaabs kind of flopped in Bradford where it is based Agrah and even Annums are much better in my opinion.

The London one wasn't all that either, been to Jimmys in Greenwich felt it was cheap and nasty was going to go to the Luton one but doubt it.

In Bradford we have been spoilt we have by far the best food all the major ones are Bradford based such as nawaabs, Akbars My Lahores, Mumtaz Kababish even the shisha places are.

I was surprised at the poor quality Desi food places in places like Manchester and London and surprising Luton too considering Bury Park looks like Freshy Central

Yeah it is, I use to go there for Christmas but not anymore; it is still the best halal buffer in the UK though imo you been to any better?

Yeah but who goes to a buffet for good food? It's always quantity over quality.

Hotspot cafe.

Never tried it though. Is it really as good as hyped?

I need to go there, Akbars in Birmingham is one of the best pakistani restaurants. My Lahores is here now as well which is also decent. I'd say that Bradford is probably the best when it comes to desi food followed by Brum and then Leicester

I don't eat that much so the buffet doesn't work out much cheaper anyway. Nawaab's is as good a buffet as you get though if you like that sort of thing. It's not so much the quantity as the variety which appeals for me. A bit of this and a bit of that. Nice change from the a la carte menu.

Frankly, the hype is justified. I've traveled the world and I still stand by the fact that they serve one of the best ice creams I've tried.

You're from Gujarat Khan? Thats actually not too far away. There's a small hilly town close to Gujar Khan called Kotli Sattian. Spent a lot of time there in one summer. Beautiful place, especially in the winter when it snows.

My mother was born there so I have an attachment to that place, the only negative I'd say is that a lot of the roads were damaged severely maybe they've been repaired now but beyond that it's cool and so beautiful all the nature and environment. The food was so delicious, have never tasted anything better; some very unique personalities use to visit at times including some members of Kalash community and a man with a Camel ! do not know what it was doing there :))

Shaz you have no idea. Back in 2010-14 when the load shedding was at its peak and there were hours of electricity cuts in major metropolitan cities like Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, Gujar Khan would have undisturbed supply of electricity and there was also a lot of development within the small city, all because of the then Prime Minister of the country - Raja Pertain Ashraf.

I had no idea about the visits by people of the Kalash community however, that's awesome. Kalash Valley is about a thousand kilometers away from Gujar Khan and they don't really like to do much out of their own community and area so that's a shocker!
