If so, then lets do something about it!

How about a foreign coach, academies etc - same as men's setup

If not, then lets stop this Pakistan Women's game still in its infancy business and other patronizing statements! We need to see some results soon or all this goodwill soon die off.

Question is, is the PCB really serious about Women's cricket?

They are hardly serious about mens game so doubt they care about Womens game

Women's cricket like most other women sports is nowhere near the men's versions in terms of quality so there isn't going to be much interest.

Despite of some good performances here and there, not great attention to Women's cricket. Not from GOP not from PCB.

That's the wrong way of looking at it. By investing in coaching and infrastructure, you will create quality which will in turn create more interest.

Let's be honest women sports in developed countries is always going to be better

In women's Football you have the likes of America and Canada dominating when there men's teams are crap

While you have Brazil, Argentina and even Spain struggle with women's Football

This is down to the presumption of females in your country, Im from Canada and the ladies here are extremely active and are encouraged to take up sport

Investment and better treatment will help but if the Pak men's team is far behind in terms of facilities and resources then there isn't really much hope for the ladies

Why not get proper coach for the Women? Foreign coach is what we need.

To be honest, I've never seen them play and their recent victory over India is the only time they were brought up in conversation.

Bur of course, they have worked hard to get where they are and I'm sure if they keep winning, their popularity will increase.

Need to be serious about the main team first. If men's team is flopping at rank 9 and 7 in limited overs what hope can you have for women's team?

You can invest as much as you want, a women's team will never have the quality to even beat a male club side. Money isn't going to change biology.

It's a waste of money to use proceeds from the international team to subsidize this futile entreprise.

extremely sexist post our women team has given us more pride and has fought for the flag way better then the mens team ever has but I agree with a poster who said that womens sports in developed countries will always be better due to culture i think there is nothing wrong with womens sport as long as they are covered properly and we should encourage just as much as the men sports we have to progress as a nation and thinking like this will only hold us back in the mid evil times where we are stuck rn

It doesn't matter how much Pakistan women's cricket team fights for flag, it would still lose to Regional FC teams. People watch sports because they want to see the best performers otherwise they can just go and watch the matches at the local park. And that is the reason nobody watches women's cricket, it is slow and boring. In return, it doesn't generate money.

People saying that there should be more money invested are basically saying that the revenues from the actual cricket team should be used to subsidize these amateur level performers nobody wants to watch.

You actually think somebody like Sana Mir or Ellyse Perry would make an FC team? Let's not kid ourselves.

extremely sexist

Nothing to do with sexism, it's about performance. There is a reason why there are sports where the women versions are more popular (gymnastics for example) since women can reach higher performance levels in those sports.

If people want to watch women's cricket then good, it should generate enough income to finance itself.
If people don't want to watch women's cricket then no need to waste money from other sources on it.

They are more serious about lining there pockets than the womens game unfortunately

I am not asking them to compete with men but we would like them to beat other women's teams!

It is a slow process, will take time.

The state of women's cricket is much better today than it was years ago.

It's hard for women's teams developing countries to compete with the developed ones because in any game you need a sizeable talent pool to be able to dominate. Women's game also depends on the socioeconomic status of the women in a country. The women's teams of developed nations dominate because their women are liberated and have no financial or social constraints.

How many women will be ready to take up sports as a career option in developing countries. Pakistan is even more conservative than India in that aspect and not many women in Pakistan will be ready to take up sport as a career option. The teams will develop as the talent pool increases, which in turn is dependent on the development of the status of women in the country.

Sub continent culture does not even encourage women to do even desk jobs.

So forget sports. Only a few liberal families encourage their daughters to play sports. Not good enough to produce quality cricketers.

Watched the highlights of England thrash Pakistan - was super impressed by the quality of cricket by the English women.

Women's cricket will never develop in an undeveloped country like Pakistan where there are so many restrictions on what they can and cannot do.

Pak Women's team also needs someone like Afridi who can hit big shots and change the game with ball. That will create some interest among cricket watchers.

I once saw Australia and England women's cricket and those ladies can hit the ball.

I am afraid, just sending our team to foreign shores armed with Facebook videos as inspiration will not cut it.

Why would someone watch low quality cricket when you have high class men cricket going on.
I will never watch women sports because it can never reach the level of men sports.

Given just how backward Pakistan is, we should just be happy that we have a Pakistani girls cricket team. The results shouldn't really matter.

English girl cricketers probably started playing sports at a young age. Pakistani girl cricketers probably spent their entire childhood worrying about roti chawal. It's a miracle that these girls even got into circlet given just how backward Pakistan is. I wonder just how much objections they had to deal with it from their families and the backward society. A foreign coach or improvements in facilities won't do anything. Our backwards society has to become more modern and encourage these girls to take up sports from a young age. That is when we will see improvements in our women's cricket.

It should matter - how long will we say that?

I am not in favour of sports which are taxing for women, cricket involves a hard ball, and I can't stand an injury to a female, one incident occurred some months ago, in which a respected player of our team got injured, and even the news of it was too tough to hear.

The fans and media have to play their bit to help the game too. How many members here went to watch the team play at the stadium?

Has absolutely no bearing on how team plays

Number of people watching cricket in uae is minimal also

Of course it does. You want PCB to hire coaches and professionals to improve the performance of the team, where does the money come from if nobody goes to watch the match or watched it on TV? Why would PCB waste money on women's cricket if nobody wants to watch it?

It's a slow process. Mohtasham Rasheed is a very committed individual and we've got a good talented crop of girls coming up with Bismah Maroof, Anam Amin etc..frequent foreign tours like this one to England will be a terrific learning curve. It's all about exposure, we can't expect any real results for the next 5-6 years, PCB has only just started investing in them.

its not about quality or performance its about equality and performance wise why not i would rather watch the women who have a higher chance of winning then their male counterparts

This is not a business

Also if you don't invest and produce results then why would anyone want to see them play?

It may not be a business but there is no reason to invest money on something people don't want to watch. If people do want to watch it, then they should go to the stadium when matches are in their country so that PCB can earn enough money to invest on women's cricket.

The level of women's cricket will always be inferior to men's. If people don't watch it now then they won't watch after you have invested 100 million$ on it.

Good. With enough people like you, women's cricket will start earning enough money to do all those lofty plans MiG is suggesting.

Yes but try playing in front of one man and his dog for every single match you play and see what that does for your morale and confidence. If people want ladies cricket to succeed they need to start watching it.

No, We are not unfortunately.

Lately there has been a smear campaign going on against women's cricket by the right wing mindset of this country. They have started degrading these girls on social media. I doubt the attitude will change anytime soon.

Good luck to the brave girls, hope they can start winning more and forces the masses to change their outdated thinking.

Another tournament - here we go again!

I really do hope we get better in this soon.

Constantly they are underperforming, I can't even say that I saw the peak of Pakistan women's cricket once.

How many times have you seen the “peak of Pakistan men’s cricket “ ?

In terms of the relative investment between the genders, it would seem that even one women’s team victory skews the axis disproportionately in favour of the women over the men.
