Are you worried about Misbah-ul-Haq's current form?

As a captain there is some chemistry with the team but when he is batting, he is not delivering the runs we need.

So is there a problem there? Lot of questions about Younis and other players but Misbah's dip in form is largely being ignored.

I am worried as he seems to be a walking wicket now and I am not sure if this is simply age or some other issue.
 
Is it really his form? Not sure about it if you look at his average of 15-20 in Aus and SA. Lower reflex may make it even worse on bouncier tracks. Good thing is that last two tests will have relatively lower bounce for him.
 
Well he was bound to slow down at some point, he is officially 42 right now, in reality might be a year or two older than that. No matter how fit you are, your reflexes lose their edge as you age.

Misbah should hang his boots after this series, or he risks denting his own legacy.

But are we seeing that steep a degradation here?

Remember, he had similar issues against Australia in UAE and he took a break and came back to score big runs. We simply dont have time. Just hope he is working on his problems.

Pakistan needs him

I think this is terminal decline

Regardless of how the remaining 4 innings go I think it's best for him to retire at the end of the series
 
Misbah has wanted to retire for a while but found the motivation to continue, the England series took a great deal out of him and he got the results for us whilst performing well to. More then age I believe at this point Misbah is incredibly jaded and these last 4 innings are probably the last of his career. There's a lot of mileage on the clock, Test Cricket is gruelling as it is never mind being the captain of Pakistan. It has come down to the heart wanting to do certain things but the mind has had enough and doesn't respond.

In hindsight he should have retired on top after the England tour - an 82 year old Shahryar Khan persuading a 42 year old Misbah to stay on was a mistake. Would love to be wrong though and see him smash a couple of 100s during the rest of this tour.

You are talking of him riding in the sunset, yet our chairman sees another 2 years of utility in Misbah asking him to lead till 2018 :D
 
Misbah and Younis are in the class of their own. Both score hundreds when no one expects them to score it.

Best of luck to Misbah for the rest of 2 matches and I really do hope he retires after this series.
 
It's gonna be a sad day when Misbah retires but I think his form is just a minor blemish, I don't think it's due to slow reflexes like people say. People said this years ago and he's bounced back, he'll most likely do the same thing again.
 
I think Misbah himself knows he's coming to the end. I just hope he's got one last big innings in him.
 
i think Misbah gave it his last push in england since then Misbah has been running on empty. I just hope he hits one last 50 before he retires after this series.
 
Was never good enough to succeed against swing and bounce. That was proved in South Africa in 2013 where he failed even though he was at the peak of his powers as a batsman.

Lord's pitch was to our liking. That's why Yasir also delivered there.

However, I do hope that he manages to somehow score runs in Sydney and retires on a personal high. He deserves it.
 
Pakistan is yet to win a test series in WI. A bit unfair to call them minnows.
 
A sad end to a fine career. 2 innings left for Misbah unless of course he sits out the last test here.
 
Why people still thinking Misbah will retire after Sydney test. In Pakistan no body wants to retire gracefully unless gets sacked which is highly unlikely
 
Our players don't know how to retire gracefully.

His status has a player and a captain has been dented, could have been so much better if he had retired after England series.
 
I was at work.. Was checking score. thought this is pitch flat track and misbah will play spin well here and might get out to fast bowler.. Misbah is known for tuk tuk. He is done.

That was the most disinterested shot I have seen in his career.

It looked like the sign of a guy who is tired after 4 tough test matches Down Under and wishes he could go home and be with his family at the age of 42.

And rightfully so.
 
In his mind he is serving a life of a retired cricketer in his home in Mianwali but he has been unnecessarily asked to continue as captain by Shahryar Khan.
 
Showed total lack of match awareness today which is so uncharacteristic of him.but as posters here are saying he is mentally done needs to retire.
 
He had one bad series and everyone started criticising him. Remind me who the man of the series was against England. He had a poor series in Australia but I think that was due to a death of his father-in-law. I think that affected him as he didn't look interested in Australia but now the legend is back in form. Tough for his haters.
 
He was never out of form. Just not good enough to score on fast, bouncy as well as seaming pitches. That has been the story of his whole career, which is why he is a good batsman but not a top batsman.

He failed in SA in 2013 when he was at his peak as a batsman. Was never going to score Australia where he failed in 2010 when he was 7 years younger, and he has failed on seaming tracks in SL as well, so the failure in NZ was not surprising.

English pitches are kind to the Asian batsman. Not much bounce and lateral movement once the new ball shines wears off.

Regardless of his form, time for him to hang his boots. There is no point him prolonging his Test career. He cannot take the team any further as captain and he is not going to improve as a batsman at his age.

Should come back in ODIs and play till the 2023 World Cup.

In my opinion he should call it a day as soon as his average gets close to 50.
