Are zoos unethical and should these be illegal?

I find zoos to be unethical and I think that zoos should be banned. Animals are normally kept in very small areas and it is absurd that these animals are being used for financial gains.

Animals belong in the wild and not in cages. What do you think?

I always thought zoos have no place anywhere
This is pure cruelty by keeping the animals cageds
If they want to keep animals best is make big safari parks

I would even oppose safari park. Let animals be animals. As long as animals are not harming humans, we should leave these creatures alone.

Zoos will be the last place where animals can live and reproduce without being poached for this skin or teeth or horns.

Until human population becomes half of what it is right now and animals have enough area to roam freely, zoos are a necessity. They are the last bastions for many of endangered species.

If the choice to be,
Were given to me,
Where would I rather be.
In a cage...
Or on your plate.

Who are we (humans) to decide where they can live or not? If poachers are doing bad things, we deal with poachers and not animals.

So it’s okay to kill them but not showcase them?

For eating purpose? I see no issue. It is halal too (assuming meat is halal).

But, for entertainment purpose, I am 100% against it. Why do we need to showcase animals? I don't understand.

if we didnt eat goats they would multiply uncontrollably ,unchecked. it would lead to desertification and famine and ultimately death.
there was an experiment to protect deer by killing wolves which led to the above scenario.
nature always keeps a balance there are carnivores to keep the population under control.

As for zoos, wild animals do not belong in cages, go watch animal documentaries instead. much better.

Goats existed on earth far longer than Humans. If Humans were not there, they would be taken down by other predators and their numbers will be kept in check.

I love how people give the reason of killing by humans to control population. Makes no sense.

What you do after killing an animal is immaterial to the animal. Its already dead.

You eat because you are hungry. Not because it is halal or haram.

Humans will decide which animal lives where or not. It is a fact. We are close to 9 Billion and growing. We will 12 billion by 2050 and it only means less space for wild animals to live.

Zoos are the best place for wild animals if vaious species are to survive past 2100. If ever human population reduces and land becomes available, we can have all the animals released back to wild from Zoos.

NO that's called sanctuaries you numb scull.

Keeping animals captive in cages does seem cruel (just like taking their life for your taste buds). The flip side is that zoos may help more humans become "aware" and sympathetic to these animals. This could raise general awareness on how our activities may be destroying their habitats or reducing their numbers.
