As a Pakistan cricket fan, the relationship between Pakistan and India has always been a complex backdrop to our love for the game. Cricket is more than just a sport—it’s a bridge, a rivalry, and sometimes, a reflection of the political tensions between the two nations. With the recent decision of India not traveling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, it’s hard not to feel a sense of disappointment and frustration. This move has left many of us wondering about the fairness and reciprocity in cricketing ties between the two countries.

Given this context, IPL 2025 brings up mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s a spectacular tournament with world-class cricket, featuring some of the best players from around the globe. On the other hand, the absence of Pakistani players and the ongoing cricketing disconnect between the two nations makes it harder to feel connected to the league.

So, I want to ask my fellow Pakistan cricket fans: Will the recent developments, including India’s refusal to travel for the Champions Trophy, influence your decision to watch IPL 2025? Will you boycott the tournament as a form of protest, or will you separate cricket from politics and enjoy the game for what it is?

Check The Indian team scores in South Africa T20 series in South Africa.

In The IPL all the Variety pitch will be available .

All i see are video game roads. It may change this year, last year it was a video game.

Maybe you haven't watched all the games . only SRH home match

SRH batting is scary but they bottled at the biggest stage ( IPL 2024 final) .

This year Kishan inclusion is make more dangerous. They will score 320+ in one match during This session.

I haven't watched all games cause it's a league that doesn't interest me besides Head lol.

Before last year, I hadn't watched a single IPL. Am not a fan of League cricket. Even big bash league which use to be my favourite league I don't like watching anymore.

I don't particularly like t20 cricket either. Even NZ vs Pak I've been watching through scorecards.

Test cricket and odi are my favourite.

But I'll watch some more games of IPL if the grounds are more varied and not every pitch is a video game road.

IPL sucks.

Too many 250+ scores. That's not cricket. Pitches need to be spicier for more even contests.

Also, there are many cringy things associated with IPL. They try too hard at times. :inti

Its people's choice if they watched or not .

During IPL time no international cricket happened so definitely most of the cricket lovers watch around The World .

IPL popularity is increasing day by Day .#Fact

Sponsers, broadcasting rate is way more than international cricket including the ICC event's.

Yes will surely watch and have been watching but I don't follow it consistently like any international tournament. The format sucks, more than 60 games is too much to follow.

Few teams which I like to follow and watch are KKR, RCB, SRH, these are my favourite teams.

Never followed any other league besides the PSL, of which my interest is also semi now. Even then wouldn't follow a league where no Pakistani players are allowed.

I used to watch it in the initial years when pakistani players were there, hardly seen any matches after that. But nowadays I don't have much time to watch, I haven't even watched a full Pakistan match of late. But if I am sitting in front of TV and there is a good match I may watch it.

I used to be a fan of dc team and followed their matches but now due to these run fests and Indian monopoly over cricket I didn't watch much ipl last season.
From this year I have decided to boycott to ipl because now I hate it very much.

No not watched a single IPL match for around 4/5 years. It’s like any other league cricket, who gives a damn apart from player making $$

I think Pakistani ex cricketers who have their YouTube channels to run surely will watch.

Also, the mass majority of aam Pakistani public who loves cricket will watch it too. We saw the craze for Indian journalist and Indian players in Pakistan in recently concluded CT. So they will watch it for sure. Few years ago they might have been upset due to non inclusion of Pakistani players but now looking at the condition of their national team they will not be too fussed about it.

Only overseas well to do Pakistanis and Pakistanis that are highly nationalist will not watch as some sort of protest. Or will they? Lets ask @Slim

I agree on that, the revenue forecast proof is in the papers lol. But I'm not a personal fan of t20 cricket. It's my least favourite format, but yes some IPL games are worth watching imo.

Haven't watched it since 2009

And will never watch it in future the borefest league

Never watch much on TV, but I keep visiting stadium once in a while every season. Very enjoyable.

It pales in comparison to the high quality T20 cricket that Pakistan is playing currently so I don't expect many views in Pakistan :inti

I won’t be watching it as a Bharatiya, for the 15th time in a row.

You don’t get it do you?

IPL doesn’t really cater to the genuine cricket fans. It’s not even their target market.

IPL is sports entertainment.

The kids, the girls, and corporates who fill the expensively priced tickets in the IPL and all the households who watch live streams of it aren’t your traditional test loving cricket fans.

Some of the biggest names in IPL that millions of these people know so much more about, I don’t even know anything about them until they do it for the nation. The first time I ever watched Abhishek Sharma was when he played for our country. Apparently everyone else knew it from the IPL days.

Same goes for Pakistanis who follow IPL. They aren’t your traditional hardcore cricket fans of Pakpassion. It’s most likely your women and all your soap opera watching population who will be following it just like in Bharat.

It’s a billion dollars worth enterprise and an established sports entertainment brand. They don’t need none of us.

It’s also very common for PSL matches being shown at the Beer bars across Bharat. I have witnessed that plenty of times. Ours is a cricket loving nation. The appetite for cricket in Bharat is massive. It’s much more than it is in Pakistan. Our country alone can consume all the cricket being played anywhere in the world so much they won’t ever need the local fans or watch the games. We are enough. That’s how crazy our nation is for Cricket. You’re all blessed because we exist to consume cricket feeds.

I barely follow international T20's let alone league cricket so no I won't be watching it...

I haven't really been watching and following IPL for like 8-9 years now. I have watched max 3-4 games in this period.

Who broadcasts PSL in India?

I don’t even know, like I said I don’t even watch IPL. But they don’t need me. They have a billion non traditional cricket viewers they can sell their product to.

I laugh at people on this forum who think that 54 people boycotting IPL from here hurts them. They have no idea about the appetite in Bharat for all kinds of Cricket played anywhere in the world.

I have never watched a single full game of IPL even when it had Pakistani players. I dont find domestic cricket interesting.

Also to correct any wrong conceptions such as @Rajdeep / @Bhaijaan might have. Without any bias, there are definitely people who watch IPL in Pakistan but its a minority. I personally have never seen someone watch IPL in Pakistan in last 7/8 years at least. Pakistanis are not as cricket crazy as Indians i guess.

There is a reason nobody bought IPL rights in Pakistan for ages, and even when some company bought it, it was a financially weak company like Geo Super as they mostly can not afford to broadcast Pakistan’s international matches. Even now a small company like tapmad, which is an online streaming platform with a small sub base has bought the rights.

Dont take comments to hurt your nationalistic egos. Im just sharing facts. If you guys watch PSL in your bars and follow it. Good for you.

Your comment is perfectly fine bro.

I had this feeling long ago that the notion that Pakistan is easily the 2nd biggest cricket market doesn’t hold true from a financial point of view and going by the lack of crowd in the Champions Trophy recently it’s evident even from an appetite point of view Pakistan isn’t easily the 2nd biggest market.

It wasn’t always the case and most likely the political and economic situation of the country had a lot to do with it.

Resident Pakistanis are going through a phase where many other real life issues mean so much more.

As an indian I won't be following....unless i am flicking channels and chance on someone as magical as umraan malik or mayank yadav steaming in to bowl ....now, thats a sight that would flick my switch ....and then i'd watch their 4 ov and be done.
Sorry, but Pahargunj pirates playing the Panvel punks in their paint spill inspired uniforms dont inspire me to tune in as i would if india C team playing Vanuatu or Venezuela.

Which is the second biggest cricket market as per you?

I disagree with your pov, Pakistan is still the second biggest cricket market. Buts more than 1 billion people versus 200 million. Cricket is becoming a wholly Indian sport. Which is not good for the game but it is what it is.

I only watched full PSL matches in the season when there was drama between Hafeez and Sarfraz. And the infamous Sarfraz meltdowns. That was hella entertaining to watch. Otherwise domestic cricket doesnt interest me that much.

@Slim - there is a El Classico game this Sunday featuring MI & CSK. This rivalry has topped even Ind v Pak in recent times in terms of viewership. I would urge you to watch this one game and your opinion will change brother. For more info on el classico you can also contact brother @Bhaag Viru Bhaag . He knows it all

If the time zone matches, i will give it a watch. Why not.

Bhaijaan's observations may be dated. Don't think it's shown on TV in India anymore. Only on the Fancode streaming app
Correct, Sony was broadcasting PSL 8 and last year for PSL 9 fancode did it. Not sure about PSL 10. Doubt anyone would have time to watch it since IPL will be on the same time.

Onus is on you to prove you’re the 2nd biggest cricket market in the world.

Based on what?

I will welcome if it is. But give me the reference for such a claim.

Based on population numbers and PSL’s success. Why should i prove anything to you lol? You are the one who is claiming its otherwise. Burden of proof lies with the accuser.

Based on population, China should be the second biggest cricket market followed by USA

PSL’s success?
What success?
That’s a very random statement.

I recalled from couple of years ago when I watched PSL matches in Gurgaon bars.

Now it seems PSL isn’t available at major streaming platforms popular in Bharat like Hotstar, Netflix, Sony, Prime hence it’s not visible at bars.

Psl used to be streamed on sony six but now it's only available on fancode.
I watched psl last year on tv as pak sports channels like geo super,a sports, ptv sports were available on our tv last year but now all pak channels have been banned now in kashmir so I will have to buy a fancode subscription this year.

That is not El Clasico, that is El Clownico. 🤡 :inti

League crickets are interesting when you are attached to a league emotionally or even as a simple fan. CSK and RCB fan base is the nerve central of IPL. MI joined this a bit late. Still even if you combine everything nothing can beat CSK fan base as they were the first ones to build the fanbase due to Dhoni's popularity. Even though KOhli is world wide famous, nobody has the mass appeal within India than MSD. Wherever you go it would feel like a CSK match. Franchisee building is very key in success of leagues.

RCB despite not winning any cub has the loudest home franchisee team. They take it so personally sometimes they will be vindictive against their own Indian players. In rare case against Indian team. :) CSK is essentially New zealand's den. They root NZ as much as India at international level.

Great.
I’m very excited about all the infrastructure projects in Kashmir. They will go a long way in connecting the valley to the country’s economy.

Need to get some more cricketers in IPL from there
Nothing new.
4g was available way back in 2017 when article was not scrapped.
It is myth that development took place in kashmir after article scrap.
Infact we are moving backwards every passing day.

West or East Pakistanis? Personally wouldnt like any East Pakistanis from Tower Hamlets or Toronto to be viewing IPL. :shakib

I do not watch any league except PSL. Only to see the upcoming talent(which hardly exists)

Cricketing population.
PSL’s success in revenue numbers.

nope didn't 'follow' any after the 08 season. Just sometimes if there is on TV and nothing to do watch over or two.

I haven't watched IPL. Sometimes some highlights on social media. I find franchise cricket mainly boring apart from PSL because it showcases some upcoming Pakistani players.

Respect for you man.

You're one of the handful Indians here who are not absolute trolls or hypocrites. You do a good banter but whatever you say is whatever you think. Straight to the cut no BS. Even if we might have opposite opinions on things.

Thanks brother,
I don’t mind anyone here. They all have their different views mostly because they come from a certain background. I am not afraid of being wrong. So many times i posted strong opinions and doubted myself afterwards as other posters helped me know better or see things from a different perspective. We all help each other that way. I only pity those who burn bridges with other posters by crossing limits just because they don’t agree with them. It’s those posters you learn the most about life from. Stick around with them more.

Same reason why I see IPL here and there.. esp spinners and middle order batsmen.
