What's new

Asad Shafiq, a failure in pressure situations?

Thats harsh.
He got a decent delivery which he had to play at.
Rizwan and ifti both flapped at wide deliveries which they could have let go and got out.
Imam got a beauty
Everyone else got decent deliveries.

No need to play at the ball. He could easily have left it.

He hasn't achieved what was expected by him. He is consistent with his Hot and Cold stuff which is bad. But it's a fact that Post 2013 he has performed in pressure situations and has scored match winning runs but quantitatively not at a number one expected from him. Thats why he is not a Class or world class player or a top tier batsman.

Let's have Azhar open with Shan and have Babar n Asad in middle order. Let's get Saud/Saad in middle order in Haris's absense and kind off rebuild.

Not in favour of dumping Asad. Time to utilise what's on offer and what's been invested in for 9 years.

screw that Asad, Azhar, Shan and Imam need to go. There are better players out there who can do better, these guys are all on a decline. Imam was given a fair chance yet averages around 20 along with Shan who has also had ample chances with little success.

Go and check the stats and you'll be shocked, why waste more time with these "has beens" whereas guys who have worked their butts off still wait and watch this train wreck show.

Asad could have been out twice before he was finally out. Twice he nicked the ball and both times just evaded all the slips.

He would have been dropped years ago if it was up to me. Scoring once in a while is not good enough.

He's always been a favorite though. Just look at how many ODIs he played despite a truly terrible record in that format.

Yes. True.

But for a person saying all that, it's amazing how you're a Shan Masoods supporter. I don't know if there's a personal connection somewhere, but Shafiq had done wayy wayyyy better, something Masood can only dream of doing. Averaging above 40 for a long time is one thing.

Shan Masoods ability is 20s that too after 32 innings.

That was a poor shot.

Asad was probably my favorite player. A good all-around batsman, but he is too soft. Perhaps this is due to him batting down the order for too long. And now he is not young enough to learn how to be a top-order batsman. I could say it is due to circumstances, but he is just not tough enough.
Not a great shot, but also a decent delivery.
He is still the second best bat in the team.

Trust me, asad is the second best batsman in the whole of pakistan. Only one who could have challenged him was fawad alam, but its too late for him now.

Fawad is only 34 years old and besides age should be negligible, base reasoning on performance and fitness and oh would you know Fawad has 12,000 first class runs and is in 5th position for highest run scorer this domestic season. Asad is a reject just go do a basic stats analysis of 2016-2018 and then come back. He's wasted the time of so many players who have worked their butts off.
