One-half of the world’s best swing bowling duo has revealed he’ll instead attack the Australians by hitting the pitch hard, Glenn McGrath style.

Stuart Broad — the man who took 8-15 to demolish the Australians for 60 all out at Trent Bridge in 2015 — has left his outswinger in England.

Why? Because he says past experience tells him his outswinger is “crap” in Australian conditions.

“I don’t want to swing it here,” Broad said in Adelaide, where he is sitting out a four-day game against a Cricket Australia XI.

“I’ve looked through all my heroes here, like Glenn McGrath, he’s not a swing bowler.

“You’ve got to hit the pitch hard like a Josh Hazlewood. Six foot six, hit the pitch hard, you hit length.

“If you get a bit of nibble either way you bring the stumps and the edge in.

“If I look to swing it I bowl too full, I bowl floaty and I’m crap. So I know that.

“I like bowling in Australia because it encourages you to hit the pitch hard.

“I tried to bowl a bit too full at the WACA and got belted so I’ve learned that lesson, and bowled that heavy length that gets wickets in Australia.”

Uncapped quick Tom Curran has been named to replace the injured Steven Finn (knee) in the England squad.

Broad’s opening partner Jimmy Anderson is expected to be rested from the tour match in Townsville next week.

England XI for the Adelaide tour match: Alastair Cook, Mark Stoneman, James Vince, Joe Root, Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Craig Overton, Jake Ball, Mason Crane, Jimmy Anderson.
