sad state of affairs really that we have to resort to incapable hacks like him.

Well I'm sure if we had someone like Saeed Anwar it would be better for us, but during the PSL he was one of the successful Pakistani batsmen. That should tell you all you need to know.

Sharjeel looks so ugly and ineffective, I don't see his game working for anything else but T20s and even then I have doubts. But this was a decent innings and more than any other opener this tournament has done for us. Think he deserves to be stuck with, see what happens now.

We just don't produce openers and guys who perform against the new ball early on. They're just bad at it. Feel like the openers will be nothing more than sacrificial lambs for the guys coming in lower down.

I think he can do much better down the order , he clearly lacks against swing and movement but when the swing is gone he can use his tulla baazi to good efeect. As an opener he will fail more often than not.

we dont even have imran farhats anymore let alone saeed anwar.

Sarfraz is such a fool - digging own grave. Now in WC, WY 'll slot him at 7; Umar at 6.

My thoughts as well.
Pakistan seems in good flow in this match but still its all about boundaries, much better than before ones.

Yep. But they seem to be going for their shots against SL bowlers now that the pressure is off. Chameeras and even Herath have been hit. Impressive actually. As long as they can replicate this at the World T20, they should do fine.

This is why we need Sharjeel. He can do this. Inconsistent, yes. But then again which one of our openers actually is consistent?

No pressure tonight and they are just fine. Against BD IND NZ amd AUs in wc they will be under pressure. Expect them to buckele under pressure.

Akmals game is still unconvincing , he cant hit boundaries without taking risks. Still premeditates.

He had to hit boundaries, because RRR was already at 7 and will only go vertical if he didn't.

I think they are under pressure to perform...should have seen Afridi face before Sharjeel hit those four consecutive 4S...they are all playing for their positions

Sri lanka need just a couple of good overs here, so does pakistan, expecting a tight finish, pakistani batting exceeded my expectations tonight

Unfortunately that's the story of most of our batsmen.

Out of the guys in LOI, the guys most suited to playing against swing and movement seem to be Babar Azam and Haris Sohail (and the most technically correct of our batsmen). But even these guys probably would do better middle order.

Part of the reason I wanted Babar to open is because he's one of the few who I actually think could do the job. And he does it in domestic. There are other guys who can't bat opening but can make runs middle order. But on the other hand if Babar does better middle order, is it fair to open with him? But on the other hand if Babar opens then you wouldn't need to weaken the order so much playing a rubbish opener at the top just for the sake of filling the opening spots.

I hope Sarfi will permanently play at one down in WT20 and also in ODIs.

2 down, 1 down should be Umar. Sarf is a better player of spin while Umar of pace. Everything is fine - only issue is where are you going to hide MoHa? He is too big to slot at 6 while he 'll troll at opening?

What a dumb fielding placement for herath?

Leg side oopened up.

Easy singles.

Batsmen need to smash just one ball and get 10 runs off the over.

111111 - when last time this happened in PAK cricket?

Commentators seem to have the Jonathan Agnew-Brian Johnston giggles.

Much needed six for Junior.

WY & Afridi should be docked 2 months salary for slotting Umar at 5 - cost a spot in Asia Cup Final.

When your soft bowler gives you break through good captains never bowls them again

Problem is, our dear PCB is bringing prince Shehzad back :( His presence again will disturb our combination.

Otherwise today's batting positions are perfect i think, won't mind if Umar comes one down and Sarfi comes 2 down. Only solution is out of Hafeez and Shehzad one should play in WT20, if both will play then whole combination will be disturbed. And we won't be able to win matches tbh.

Magnificent batting by Akmal.

Waiting for the bad balls to arrive and pouncing on them - brilliant.

Hafeez should be @ 6 but these players are so arrogant without even performing.

Drop him from T20s. He's been dismal in this format and bring in Babar Azam if he's recuperated from his injury.

Malik disappointed by stepping down as Karachi Kings captain. He should be leading Pakistan.

That was never an issue - comes from small town from Sialkot, there are too many ego in PAK cricket from big boys from large cities, otherwise he shouldn't had been removed as Captain at 1st place.

Yah I was disappointed when he was played at number 4 , probably the easiest position to bat at.

Malik's technique against quicks reminds us why he has only played only 33 test, out of which 13 were come back test

Agree think we need to have umar at 3, Sarfraz at 4. Or could be the other way round. And Malik should be at five. Need to go with that now for the t20 world cup.

Hafeez should be dropped. I guess I'd go with Sharjeel and Shehzad for openers. Though don't have much faith in them, Sharjeel just doesn't look international material such a flawed player. Shehzad just doesn't bat in the same way in internationals as he does in T20. He bats so aggressively in these domestic tournaments but just goes into his shell when in internationals for some reason.

Posters give full load to Afdiri, Malik, Ahmed & even Umar for being beneficiary of lobby or politics, but the biggest gainer in PAK cricket is MoHa - this guy is playing in top 3 for 2 years with inferior figures than Mashrafee with bat.

Akmal smashes :six:

It's funny, though it is terrible bowling, Umar last year, would be out by now. He would have been out 4 overs ago, after a boundary, then a punt to the fielder at long on.

He hit his first boundary on the 20th ball, and now his SR is 121. I am not saying don't hit the bad ball, but if he isn't cluing in to the fact that he can get high scores with great SR's with some patience finally, then I don't know what will.

2/3 matches with a very good score now and both of them with patience and playing the shot on merit.

Again, I won't hold for my breath for this brainless fool, but the game comes so easy to him when he doesn't force the issue.

It's actually bothering me as I'm typing this. Should have so many more runs in his career.

What a player. Ramiz is right. Hes been giving himself time the last 2 months.

Sensible knock from Akmal today. 23 off 20 needed, this one should be straightforward enough.
