Asia Cup 2018 schedule announced - Pakistan to play India on 19th September

The schedule for 2018 Asia Cup has been released with India set to play two ODIs on consecutive days.

The biennial tournament, set to take place in the UAE from 15 September, sees Bangladesh and Sri Lanka face each other in the opening game in Dubai.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are all confirmed participants, with the remaining spot still up for grabs apmgst UAE, Singapore, Oman, Nepal, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Group A consists of India, Pakistan and the qualifier while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 and two teams will then play the final on 28 September in Dubai.

Defending champions India will face rivals Pakistan on 19 September the day after their opening game against the as-yet unconfirmed qualifiers.

2 ODIS IN TWO DAYS. What in the world. Why????

Anyway good to finally get the schedule but in UAE..... would have been better in Sri Lanka or Bangladesh where atleast the attendance would be then UAE.
 
So Pakistan will be up against an Indian team that will be playing its second match in two days.

Absolutely no excuse will work. We have to beat them if we are to justify the claims that this is an improved team.
 
Putting India and Pakistan in the same group with a Qualifier, where the top two make it to the 'next round'... :srini
 
The scheduling for this tournament is absolute trash, why would you have a Pak vs Ind game on a Wednesday?! The second Pak vs Ind game is on September 23rd so that is fine since it is a Saturday. The final is schedules to be on Friday, why can't it be on the weekend? I get that Friday is the start of the weekend there but think about the millions of viewers that will be trying to watch the matches.

2 games in 2 days. Well India will probably give reserves a chance in match against qualifier team and rest 4 or 5 players in that match
 
Who scheduled this? 2 games in 2 days for India, India, Pakistan match on a Wednesday, second India Pakistan match on a Monday, and final on a Friday instead of Saturday:facepalm:
 
So when does the qualifier team get decided?

Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will be a tight group, hope Sri Lanka and Afghanistan go through.

LOL PP Aunties always crying. Whats the big deal in playing 2 games in 2 days? First game is in fact a warm up. You can get some time in the middle...

Looks like bcci is not taking asia cup seriously the schedual looks pathetic.

Lets see how many crowd can india bring in uae apart from pakistan match as we were tell that ipl bring full houses back than in uae.i expect empty crowd in most matches

I wish it was host in india it would have been much much better with great atmosphere.
 
Tbh, I won't be entirely shocked if a couple of teams don't play their best XI.

This looks like another useless tournament with weird scheduling.

Most of cricket fansin UAE, ones from India are working class people ( either laborers and executives as well) and both cannot afford take a day off to watch a match...so unless games are on UAE weekends (fri/sat)...crowds would be small

Same apply to pakistani crowd so why pakistan matches are mock about empty stadium matches in uae?
 
No games in Sharjah? An India vs Pakistan final in Sharjah would've been a spectacle.

But, who thought it was smart to schedule an INDO-PAK game on a Wednesday? That's the biggest fixture of the tournament (unless they meet in the final) and you put it smack dab in the middle of the work week?

september 19th.....looks like i will have to take a day off work lol.....what to tell my boss.....surley i cant tell him its for cricket.....he wouldnt understand lol....regardless i will be watching that match hoping for a good contest

The game on Wednesday the 19th is a dead-rubber.

The second game will be more important and is on a Saturday.
 
India is in England until September 11th and then goes to UAE to play their first game on Sep 18th?

IS THIS A FREAKING JOKE, ACC?
 
Soo its confirmed that India is going to field India-B team in Asia cup...just like dhoni nd raina did in 2014 kohli can fake an injury for media sake and get the well deserved rest after rigorous UKtour

And if Pakistan wins then i guess it will be a fluke because India would be tired after their gruelling match against the qualifier. Its a win-win situation for you.

It is funny because the Champions Trophy is the only time I have called a Pakistan win a fluke.
 
Should be a fun contest between fakhar vs Chahal and Kuldeep on soon friendly pitches. Quality vs quality. Aggression vs accession.

India will most likely try to bench as many of their key players as possible on 18th
 
UAE is Pakistan's second home, just like Bangladeh is India's second. Players from the teams perform very well in these countries.

No matter, India play full strength or not, these will be pakistan's game to loose
 
We have improved a lot and i am positive we should be able to beat India all 3 times or two. India scedule is crazy 5 tests then straight here!! Pakistanid get your rest

We would they do that when they can play the best squad vs the qualifier, beat them and clinch and then rest some players in the dead rubber vs Pakistan the next day.

ACC creates schedules for Asia cup and not BCCI. Shahriyar Khan is the president of ACC. Maybe he wanted a jaded Indian team to face Pakistan to save humiliation.

PS: they are milking Pak vs Ind games! It'll be funny if we have a BD vs SL final :yk
 
The scheduling of this tournament is terrible.

Way too many matches in a short period of time, India’s playing two matches in two days and there are multiple matches happening in some days.

We always talk about why the Asia cup isn’t as big as it could be and this is to be honest the reason why.
 
At the least, our players should not make any provocating statements !!! Since when these 2 Teams meet, with anything on line, it is an all out war !!! We should be quietly confident and go about our business as if it is just another game, and, it IS just another game. None of this will happen, I am afraid, and there will be a shame on one of the Team’s face .... highly unfortunate ..... but it is ..... what it is !!!!!!
 
Winning Group A might be important.

The winner plays all of their games including the final in one stadium (Dubai).
 
I wish Malaysia qualifies, then gets to play us in our group and we destroy them left, right and center! Work would be so much fun the next day day :ma
 
Poor scheduling and this after India would be returning from UK playing 5 Tests. Kohli, Pandya, Rahul, Bumrah (When Fit), Kuldeep et all will be coming in to ODI team after playing 5 Test series. Poor planning by BCCI. I hope India rest the bowlers and send in a young attack. It will also be the time to test out some young bowlers, don't want to overwork the bowling attack and have them injured for Australia.
 
Depending on the schedule, I don't think India will send it's first team. Rohit and Dhoni will be there as they are not on the Test squad. Most likely Kohli, Bumrah, Bhuvi, Kuldeep, Pandya, and maybe even Dhawan will all be rested.

I think so too. I don't think India will be sending their full squad. Dhoni, Rohit will feature, so will Chahal. The others might get rested.

Poor scheduling and a poor format as well. Should just be one group of 6, 2 semi finals and a final or maybe just a final. This 2 groups of 3 is pointless. And why would they put Pakistan vs India on a Wednesday?

It is not nadhas trophy 2.0 there is pakistan also partcipating so keep your fact to yourself if you have nothing to back this.Can you tell me when pakistan lost to second sting india in asia cup ?
 
So there's a possibility Pakistan will be playing India 3 times. Imagine if we win the first 2 but lose the all important final. That would be really bad, losing all 3 rather than going through the emotional roller coaster of winning 2 then losing last would probably be easier to take for me. I think us Pakistani fans should expect to lose to India at least once, can't see us beating them 3 times out of 3 assuming we play them that many times, India are too good for that.

I hope someone in UK broadcasts this tournament as I haven't been as excited for an Asia Cup before as I am for this one.

No this is not a joke.

Bigger joke will be next year when indian players will be busy playing in IPL till 20th May and the World Cup will start from 30th May.

We won CT in 2013 which was played 1 week after IPL. Also you cant compare international cricket with IPL. In the test series all main Indian players are involved till the end. IPL is bit of a hit and miss. Say CSK vs MI final, only Dhoni, Bumrah and Rohit will be really affected.Also stress of test cricket is different from T20s
