Asia Cup 2022 | India thrash Afghanistan by 101 runs in Super Fours dead rubber

Afghanistan is still in shock of that defeat to Pakistan.
They are definitely a better side than this

Not easy to adjust to wuick change of venues. Pakistan batsmen struggled to adapt to low Sharjah wicket against slowish afghan bowlers.

Shamsi is the only decent bowler and he doesn’t turn it away from the right hander. Pakistan have always played him well

This bowling attack of Afghanistan consists of two world class spinners and one decent spinner (Nabi), they have always made it extremely difficult for Pakistan and other not so strong international sides. It is ridiculous to claim that bowling attack of SA is on the same level as this Afghani bowling attack lol

Because with Afghanistan & India
Run rate equation will always favor india.

Even if India needs massive swing like win by 150 runs or chase in 5/6 overs to qualify for semi finals, Afghanistan will allow india to do it.
 
How can anyone see the last wicket and not think that something is suspicious is going on is beyond me!

Unfair. They gave India plenty scare in Asia Cup 2018 and WC 2019. They just are shellshocked today after what happened yesterday. Only natural.

I mean I wouldn't read much at all into today's game. It's not a normal game.

Yes SL got lucky against BD, in that match Mendis had more lives than a cat. Plus BD were missing players like Liton Das. Afg also humbled SL who are now Asia cup finalist. T20 ranking shouldn’t be taken too serious.
 
I had a feeling Afghans will be all out for 50.It could be even less.I think they are just going through the motions.

they are not even trying to hit boundaries.. this is more then being mentally defeated.. they are throwing this game in a fashion that will hurt their fan base more.. There was definitely monetary or other incentives given in this game. Rohit not playing was a calculated decision..

AFG wouldn’t have played like this either. Naseem completely demoralised them. That’s why you see even bhuvi taking a 5fer after struggling against Asif Ali lol.

The same Bhuvi took 4 wickets against Pak too in the first game. So, Pak tried to please India too?

First time in my life I am supporting team India. I wanted them to bundle these mediocre and minnow clowns under 50. That's what their level is in cricketing world.

so I guess India must have told Afghans they expect atleast a 100 run win.. thats why they stopped right at 111... looks like they were also instructed to beat the living crap out of Karthik while making Bhuvi and Hooda look good with bowling
 
Most disgraceful performance ever. I shudder to ever see my team play liek this, so uncompetitive and being friends with the opposition while getting floored. Pak has loss big but never willingly lied down. This was something else. Afghan fans should throw chairs at their own players.
 
Pakistan subdued them and it's great to see India doing it rough on them and that too without a lube, to send them back into their hell hole.

Indeed, it was only a matter of India winning the toss against us. Had India won the toss in previous games and chased, we would have been already out of the tournament and only India and Sri Lanka would have qualified to finals.

Only thing this result reinforces is that India are chokers and when the pressure is off they batter minnows. The exact same thing happened at the T20 WC where they were dumped out unceremoniously and then smashed a disinterested Afghan side.
They scored 210 that day and you and your ilk once again told us powerhouse India is back baby...

King Kohli! So happy for him that he now has a T20I century as well to his name before he retires from the format at the international level. He surely has to be the only player whom I like from the current set of Indian players. Really love his batting. However, Afghanistan's utter lack of intent, passion, and interest in the last two matches against India has been pretty disappointing. It seems as if their players don't quite feel the political motivation to do bring up their A game which they clearly seem to do against Pakistan - coming from reasons outside cricket, it seems. However, they might argue that they've at least tied an ODI match against India, which they haven't against Pakistan yet.

From what I've seen of Dinesh Karthik in the IPL and even in some of the matches for India in the recent while, he reminds me so much of the way Zaheer Khan was towards the years of his retirement. The comparison may sound stupid because one is a batsman and the other is a bowler, but Zaheer became from being a good-ish bowler to an almost unplayable bowler towards the very end, especially the way he bowled in the ODI World Cup 2011. It was not as if he had had any new breathing in of talent and skills in his soul; it was the pure experience of having played cricket for so many years and having even borne many failures in life, if I can say this with due respect. However, India are completely wasting Karthik for Rishabh Pant here, completely! Karthik has really become shrewd batsman and has of late been excellent in finding gaps and even timing the ball, whereas Pant gets stuck too often in T20I cricket and goes nowhere with his innings. It seems as if this decision has been prompted by a heavy media campaign done by some of the cricket experts and former cricketers. I wanted to voice my opinion on this since a few days but wanted to wait and see whether Pant does end up doing something of note in the tournament. Not to be, in the end. India must quickly make a decision on this ahead of the T20 World Cup next month.
