Pakistan vs Oman is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Dubai. This will be the fourth match of the tournament.

Here's a preview of the upcoming match:

Teams and Context
Pakistan: Pakistan is a major force in world cricket and is considered a favorite in the tournament. They are in a state of transition under the leadership of Salman Ali Agha, with a mix of experienced players like Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf, and young talents. They will be looking to start their tournament with a convincing win and build momentum for their blockbuster clash against India on September 14.

Oman: Oman secured their spot in the Asia Cup 2025 with a strong performance in the ACC Men's Premier Cup. They are placed in Group A alongside cricketing giants India and Pakistan, and the UAE. Led by Jatinder Singh, Oman will be considered the underdog. They will be looking to pull off a major upset and make a statement on the big stage.

Head-to-Head
This will be the first official T20 International match between the two sides. While they have not played against each other at the international level, a Pakistan A team defeated Oman by 74 runs in the ACC Men's Emerging Asia Cup in 2024. This previous encounter might give Pakistan a slight psychological edge, but it doesn't represent a true head-to-head record between the full natio
nal teams.

Pakistan squad:

Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Waseem Jnr, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufyan Moqim.

Since it's not Sharjah pitches anymore, I imagine they'll go back to having another pacer and likely removing Sufiyan. My guess is the top 8 remains the same with Rauf coming in for Sufiyan over Abrar.

Hope Pakistan chose to bat first if they win the toss and get themselves used to the Dubai pitch before the big match vs India.

Na pace bowlers are useless going to leak runs in uae conditions play your best bowlers which clearly are spinners sufiyan abrar nawaz are must.

Should play abrar sufiyan nawaz don't need rauf on these slow uae pitches what's your take on this bro
If the pitch is going to be similar as the India v UAE game then there is a need for another genuine pacer with Shaheen.

Against Oman though, the pitch conditions shouldn't matter. They can play whomever they like and still win.

A poll for who wins the match
Hopefully no session fixing by Pak ... will they restrict Oman to under 100 ?

If Pakistan win the toss they should bat first and try to post a big total. They need their batsmen to be confident with some runs under their belt going into the India match, even if it's by bashing minnows.

I think Salman is fit to play tomorrow.

Omani batsmen will be lining up Rauf's overs..

Listening to Hesson's press conference today, he does not seem convinced that spinners are the only way to go in Dubai. Thinks it is not as spin-friendly as the Sharjah pitch. So, radarless, ultra-expensive Rauf is likely to play.

Let Haris bat in top 4... abrar and sufiyan both should play... Haris is not needed against oman.

I am standing on my promise with yu bruh...
And I will stand on mine. However since I cannot guarantee man of the tournament, I will make a different promise.

Dw I back the man of the tournament claim, am not backing out but am not putting any stipulation on that.

However if Haris doesn't perform in this tournament aka doesnt perform vs Minnows and against atleast 2 big teams (India and Sri lanka) atleast once,

Then not only will I give up my support on haris, i will personally vanquish my right to support Haris over Ba/Riz.

Yes you heard me correctly, I am willing to sacrifice my ego entirely and gulp it down the drain.

@gazza619 @Major The final battle for my ego is on the line.

YOU WANT SOME COME GET SOME.

If my pfp wasnt so iconic, id change it to John cena atm.

I expect not an easy win for Pakistan. Oman have lots of expats from pak/ind and they will give tough fight to Pakistan.

Resting sufiyan will be a mistake.
Play sufiyan and abrar and play shaheen, haris rauf and rana sahab
Spin will play a vital role now in this tournament and it is not easy to hit sixes on spin bowling atleast for our batters

Pakistan might make 1 change, bringing in Haris for Sufiyan... Which will make no sense against Oman... I dont think Pakistan should make any change here.

Not utilizing Faheem is also a mistake. He barely bowled in the tri-series despite picking up a four-wicket haul in one of the matches. If he is playing as an all-rounder then he should be feeling good about his batting and bowling.

But I don't see how you can leave Nawaz out. It's between Rauf and Sufiyan for the last spot.

Faheem may very well be required to bowl all 4 overs

Haris Rauf is a wicket taker for sure but he is also very expensive in every game. Is a one-dimensional bowler, just bowls fast but has little ability to swing or move the ball. He has already cost us a couple of important games including the game against India in 2022 World T20.

Let’s see how he fares against Oman today.

Lads need to show the migrant workers how the big boys do it.

Bat first, score 200+ min.

Bowl first, bowl them out for 50 and chase it in 3 overs.

Send a message to the rajdeeps.
That’s not going to happen esp the second scenario

Agha has a mild neck spasm

If he does not play who should replace him?

Hussain Talat or Khushdil?

against Oman, it does not matter much... If it was india then things could have been tricky.. I will go with Hussain though

lets follow indian strategy and go with 4 spinners, indian management must know what its doing.
one caveat though. Pakistan doesn't have a shivam Dube. India just in case pitch offers assistance to seamers they have got it covered. Turns out Dube moved ball in the air and off the pitch significantly looked as dangerous as spinners.

Doesn't pakistan have any other seam bowler who can bat a bit? That will give them better balance.
Faheem has been batting well at 8.

After that, Wasim Jr is there who is good enough hitter at 8. Hasan Ali is okay at 8 too.

Shaheen is good against pace only, vs Spin he's like Tailender

Dube will get smashed by better teams than UAE.

Same pitch as the other day when India played the UAE. It looks hard and has been rolled in nicely, although it looks a little drier, says Bazid Khan.

Teams:
Oman (Playing XI): Jatinder Singh(c), Aamir Kaleem, Hammad Mirza, Vinayak Shukla(w), Shah Faisal, Hassnain Shah, Mohammad Nadeem, Zikria Islam, Sufyan Mehmood, Shakeel Ahmed, Samay Shrivastava

Pakistan (Playing XI): Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Haris(w), Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha(c), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Abrar Ahmed

Great team selection by pakistan no harris rauf can't imagine any coach of pakistan or captain dropping rauf from playing 11 this is uae go with your spinners brave and good call pakistan.

I guess Pakistan wants batting practice

The game vs India will only be competitive if Pakistan batters put up a decent show.

Amad Butt had some real potential when I first saw him
Poor bowler. He will easily go at 10s-12s at intentional level

Amir Yameen knows how to swing the new ball. He has that skill, and gives it a very good hit at the back end with the bat.

Rana sahab great selection by going with 3 spinners which you need in uae dropping rauf is a really good call in these conditions.

aamer jamal, muhammad shahzad
Jamal’s bowling is very inconsistent. He can’t help himself but serve up 2 in the slot balls per over

Muhammad Shahzad has no pace. The guy does have the potential to be a great batsman though.

Saim gone . He is my fantasy team captain. Lol

Hence proved my captain never perform

:klopp :kp

Talent is of no use without a brain unfortunately. Heroic bisti.

These guys are such bums man. Even against garbage teams they can't manage to not throw their wicket away. It's literally the first ball and he plays such a garbage terrible shot.

How can you even review that ? That’s absolutely sackable offense by Saim Ayub. This is a team game lad.
