It seems all major teams of Asian bloc are badly out of form just before the World Cup.

Remains to be see how they fare in England.

Traditionally Asian bloc has always done well at the world cups securing 2/4 semis spots m.
 
Do you recall a time when India were severely beaten by New Zealand in 2003 before the World Cup and then went on to final of the World Cup?
 
With the exception of first WC, every time atleast 1 Asian side has made it to the Semi-Finals of the WC and it looks like it ain't changing anytime soon.

Both Pakistan and India will make the Semi-Finals, along with England and Australia.

They beat a young team with potential to improve.

Jadhav, Rayudu and Dhoni will not improve from here.

How is a team supposed to win a tournament when their players aren't even capable of avoiding 4 whitewashes in the last 2 years?

But the world cup wasn't in New Zealand so the results were somewhat irrelevant.

its a made up thing that no one else cares about. If anything, this is a little racist - might as well call them 'brown teams' performance watch
 
Interestingly, this WC, half the teams would be from South Asia. Thats an impressive ratio.

But it would also be a huge shame if none of us can go to lift the trophy.

Rich history of Asian bloc cannot simply be ignored
 
Don't worry OP, one to two or even three (if either BD/SL gets their game together) asian teams may feature in the semis. Out of the 10 teams, 5 are asians (IND/PAK/BD/SL/AFG). Either way, all teams are pretty avg/crappy this year so the tournament will be harder to predict than you think.

Well we have ICC to blame for it, restricting it down to 10 teams. 2 test nation missed out, good asocciates teams did not get in either. This elite mentality needs to stop.
 
Not a great start for the Asian Bloc.

Brothers India and Pakistan both losing their warm up game.

Afghanistan won so thats a positive.

Bangladesh also seems to be in decent form.
 
It's a big world cup for the Asian bloc.

With 5/10 teams being Asians, Asia must send 2 teams to the semis and one to the finals.

Rain denies much needed practice to Pakistan and Bangladesh.

I think at MOST only 1 asian team will qualify for semis either india or pakistan. The other 3 qualifers look line england, austrwliq qnd new zeland. South africa will also be a threat for the 4th place.

Our LOI batting has long been held strong by Kohli and Sharma’s unreal form. Both of them seem out of form now and the rest of the batters aren’t consistent or fit for 2019 generation cricket.

170 all out vs NZ shower everything wrong with this Indian team.

From the best batting line up in the world, India is among the mid tier teams.
 
I do not know that much about india cricket, other than for over the last decade they have been one of the best, if not the best odi teams. My point is that i think i remember reading on cricinfo that india beat new zealand 4 - 1 in new zealand just recently, is this correct? If it is, then i would not read too much in a warm up match.

Yes they beat NZ comfortably 4-1 in NZ. People are freaking out over their warm up loss yesterday.

India fans and pak fans are being over concerned about warm up matches. I think 1 of these 2 teams will qualify for the semis definetly! Unfortunately, i dont think both will qualify for semis(because i always want an india vs pak final!)

It happened when India were on a dream run.

After that we lost home ODI series to Aussies.

Kuldeep and Chahal were a big part of the LOI success and world cricket seems to have figured them out.

India goes into the World Cup with too many question marks
 
I saw a bit of the match and kane williamson was playing the spinners quite comfortably. Kane is a world class bat(more in tests than odis) but i dont know if the pitch offered any assistance to the spinners. What i have seen is that at the moment, maybe because of the pitches, spin bowlers have not been that dominant with the exception of rashid khan - he bowled exceptionally well.

such an unpredictable tournament ....still feel the Aussies are slightly favourites. Can never write off them.They are such a balanced side.
 
There are continuous improvements for Asian bloc's score in this WC. Pak 105, Sri 135 Agf 207. Next is BD, care to guess the score?

Why so negetive bro? The graph is going in upward trend. Though there is little chance of getting us bundle out under 100runs. But still I have a dream that we will perform(win) better against SA.

Tamim will be playing with injury, not 100% recovered. Mahmudullah and Shakib too recovering. Our team is very fragile. Soumya & Liton needs to fire, our only hope. Mosaddek and Sabbir haven’t done anything and saw how terribly they batted against India not to mention Mithun is a certified hack. Also last World Cup we got all our for 84 against Protea fire in 2011. Miller smashed Saif for 5 sixes so I am scarred :shakib

Afghanistan - The pride of Asian bloc. They have performed better than expected. SL and PAK have disappointed.
 
It looks like many are hoping Bangladesh to do well here. Personally I don't see a win against nonasian sides after seeing the pitches so far. These pitches have bounce movement , very difficult for the Asian batsmen to survive for long. Only Indians have the quality to perform well here. Outside India, I see no no chance of any Asian side to reach the semifinal.
 
When was the last time a World Cup semi was played without a team from the Asian bloc?
 
There are 5 asian countries who have qualified for WC, if none of them make it to semis then it will be probably the most embarrassing result for Asian cricket :(

India also got bowled out for 92 in NZ earlier this year, but won the series 4-1. One match (that too a warmup) means very little.
 
I hope we can make a mark on the points table today. Pak, Lanka, and Afghans were unlucky to lose out important tosses in this early summer and early morning starts. Hopefully Bangladesh can win the toss and bowl first!

Currently non Asian bloc 3-1 Asian bloc. If Pak wins tomorrow it could well be 3-3 by midweek :sarf:vk
 
I honestly dont expect much from SL-Pak-Afg from this tournament. BD will win a few games here and there but reaching SF is not on the cards just yet
 
I have a feeling Pakistan will demolish England and register their first win, Mohammed Amir got his mojo back and Wahab is In Shazam mood. The wizard has spoken :moyo

Need to beat one of NZ, Ind or WI; and no upsets against SL, Pak, Afg. 5 wins might be enough.
 
Congrations to Bangladesh team and their fans! Watched most of the match. Bangladesh played so well!


SA vs. Ind. => I expect SA to win. First match for India, not much practice. SA on the other hand, had a good match today.
