I am a firm believer of, bowling wins the matches. I don't select half all rounders, especially seamers. So I go with four genuine quicks.

Pure modern OD team, 6 pure world class players, no bits and bobs players like imad Wasim. All have their specific role to play.

Captaining a Asian team is insanely hard especially with Ines with a mix from other countries, their is only one man fit for the job and is respecting hugely in Asia and the whole world MS Dhoni. Arguably the greatest finisher of all time and a surreal captain always thinking and calm.

Two spinners in Shakib and Jadeja, both all rounders and both ranked number 1.

Three pure pacers who can swing it, reverse it and make the hall talk while bowling beey fast.

The team bats deep down to 8. With a express pace battery and a world class spin department. Alongside Dhoni as the skipper this team is simply a beast

Looks spot on. Rashid Khan is a great entry after his performance yesterday. I can see Asia dominating world cricket, home and away, in 10 years of time. Bangladesh and Afghanistan have come a long way and we're living in fun times.

An Asia cup right now would be a block buster. We have 5 teams with different strengths. How awesome would that be!

In my opinion this is the most balanced Asian combined XI. A lot of players miss out marginally because had to make a realistic team with players playing in their right positions. A lot of posters here have unconditional love for Amir despite his form/shortcomings with the ball, and just like in our current Pakistan team, seems like he got in based on his previous reputation alone. Shami and Bhuvi get ahead of him all day everyday.

Sarfraz as the captain as I do feel he'll prove to be a better captain than Kohli in the long run, given the right tools.

4) Kholi (wont be my captain, he is just been lucky to play his captain career so far in his most favoured places)

6) MS Dhoni (c) (wk) ... big fan of his captaincy still and he is a daaaaammmm lucky captain
7) Saqib (my only spinner and all rounder, a champ, also a floater in terms of batting position)
8) Aamir (not picking wickets but he is making life hell for batsmen)
9) Hassan Ali ( for me the bowler of the year so far in 2017, improving at speed of light)
10) Shadab Khan / Rashid Khan (i love to have a leggie, only ones worth mentioning)
11) Yadev ... pace aggression , he is good

12... xtremly difficult to cut him out but Mustafiz doesnt get in.

If these teams are being constructed on form then leaving Malik out is a travesty.

He has got one of the better averages among the pace bowlers who have atleast played 30 matches and he is one of the better death bowlers around. There is a reason why Lancashire selects him regularly for the campaigns.

He averages under 29 in ODI cricket and has bowled very well in both Australia and England recently. He makes my XI any day.

He bowled well in the MCG where the pitch was holding up and assisting our bowlers, apart from that he was bashed around.

He is one of the worst bowlers going around today, and here you are putting him in an Asian ODI XI :facepalm:

You are saying that his overall stats lie, what are your facts that make him the worst bowler around, just averages of past year where he hasnt played a lot of matches. He has performed in the dead wickets of UAE earlier in his career. Yes he was struggling recently but he got injured in 2015 and it took him sometime to get back into rhythm. Now he is getting his mojo back.
To be honest he is one of the few bowlers around who are complete bowlers rather than just being a new ball bowler or just being a death bowler. He seams the new ball, reverse swings the old one and bowl good yorkers.

Tbh I haven't seen much of Hasan Ali, so I didn't include him in my XI. Amir, on the other hand, I feel is a tad too defensive a bowler. He almost never seems to pick wickets.

How exactly is he getting his mojo back? They guy has continuously lost games for whatever side he plays for whether that be the Zalmi or even recently in the Pakistan Cup. It's only a matter of time before we same occurrences at the national stage.

Exactly why I included him in the reserves and not the main XI. He averages 28 btw. There are bowlers with much better averages. Hasan Ali, based on his stats, is probably good enough to make the XI. I haven't seen him bowl much though.

Those stats are due to him doing exceptionally well during those first few years of his career before his injury. His stats post injury, over the last 2 years, are abysmal. Yes, he did well in the last match, but he bowls gun barrel straight and gets tonked around 9 times out of 10. We'll see how he progresses through this tournament.

I though we are adding people on current form. If whole career taken in to account, Lasith Malinga is far better than Junaid Khan for the fast bowling spot. In that case fast bowlers would be Malinga, Bumrah and Amir and Mathews. Mathews averages 40 with the bat and 34 with the ball.

That did make me laugh btw. If you were to go for a 2nd Pak bowler, why didn't you pick Hasan Ali over Junaid who is miles better?

Junaid is better than Hasan. Although Hasan did not make the cut for reasons similar to why Bumrah was excluded.

I guess a lot of people forget that Mohammed Shami has taken 87 wickets in just 47 ODIs at an average of 24. Both Malinga and Amir average 28 with the ball.

Yes, great stats. However, if he can't make the Indian XI, he can't make the Asian XI either.

I think he is out of form, and that is the reason he cannot make Indian XI
 
However I agree that Bumrah cannot make Asian XI based on the career. On career wise it would be Shami, Malinga, Amir and Mathews. Mustafizur is good, but not proven over a long career.

I don't think he is out of form. He did well in the warm-ups. But I'm not sure if he is fully fit. He should replace Yadav in the XI, he's a much better bowler.

Career? If we are going to look at the whole career then none of the bowlers you mentioned will make the asian XI, it will be made of ATGs who have retired, if we are going to select the team based on current players, then current form should be the criteria, and bumrah easily makes it because he's the best pacer in asia, but to each his own

13 matches isn't enough to make claims like that. He may be as good as you make him out to be but needs to show that sort of skill and quality over a long period of time.
 
Jasprit Bumrah has played a grand total of 13 ODI matches, taking 22 wickets. Three of those 13 matches have come against Zimbabwe, against whom he averages 8. He has played a handful of games against New Zealand and England and a solitary ODI against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Australia. He averages 35+ in the ten matches that he has played against the big teams.

Like I said, he does not make the Asian XI.

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned Kedar Jadhav yet. Done well in whatever opportunities he has got so far.
 
Quite ironic to see Tamim Iqbal in almost every XI. Before 2015 no one would pick him. Since then he has been spectacular.

Its on the basis of current form(say post world cup).

Dhoni has regressed. There was a time opposition bowler didn't want to get the Indian top order dismissed just so that Dhoni batting at no. 6 did not have to come out to bat at the last 15-20 overs.

He has regressed a bit. But more than that his regular job effort of something like 60 of 55 balls in the last 15 overs has become obsolete in this era of big hitters.

Kohli doens't move for others, others move for kohli, there is no way any other batsman can bat at no. 3 other than Virat kohli
