I believe Babar will be in the top 5 once he is retired.

Needs to win a World Cup if he wants to come in the top 3.

As long as Kohli doesn't dominate a World Cup, he can never be better than Tendulkar.

I don’t agree. He already has done enough for me to be considered the GOAT ODI batsman. If he dominates a World Cup it would only increase the gap between him and the second guy.

Bhaijaan's Top 10 Greatest Ever Asians who batted in ODIs:-

1. Tendulkar, GOAT overall

2. Kohli, also 2nd greatest overall, greatest chaser ever

3. Dhoni, also greatest finisher ever

4. Yuvraj, a pioneer and a tournament winner at his batting position

5. Hitman, in neck to neck competition with Kohli to end up as greatest of his era and 2nd greatest ever

6. Zaheer Abbass, the list has to have a random Pakistani somewhere in order to avoid unnecessary hate comments

7/8/9/10/and so on - Sehwag, Inzy, Sanga, Dravid, Ganguly, Azhaurddin, Miandad, Dhawan Jadeja, Ijaz, De Silva, Anwar etc etc. No special achievements as ODI batsmen, one can change their order in any way they like

Special mentions to Bangladesh and Afghanistan who did not feature in the list but are in our hearts as we celebrate Asian Bloc

What has he done to be considered GOAT ODI batsmen apart from scoring runs and hitting centuries at a normal human being strike rate?

What has he done to be considered GOAT ODI batsmen apart from scoring runs and hitting centuries at a normal human being strike rate?

You cannot discount an average of almost 60 and 43 ODI hundreds at the age of 31. He is also the greatest run chaser ever. None of these records can be whitewashed just because he hasn’t scored 500 runs in a World Cup yet, or hasn’t produced a big innings in a World Cup knockout.

World Cups elevate a career, they don’t make or break one. Kohli has done enough already to be considered the best ODI batsman ever. The gap between him and the rest is huge in spite of not dominating a World Cup yet.

What a stupid question to ask.

Kohli's ODI numbers are frightening, anything but normal.

And he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, the a guy is a winner at LIFE. Married a beautiful actress, earns around 200cr per year which is exponentially more than other top cricketers in the world. These are things every guy dreams of , not of how people online think of them.

straightforward no debate entries:
SRT, Kohli, Dhoni, Rohit, Sanga, Inzy

Rest 4 spots several candidates

- Jayasuriya and Sehwag (pioneering Strike rate leaders in their era with decent consistency)

- Zaheer Abbas (relatively far ahead of his peers)

- Aravinda and Jayawardene (great strokeplayers with longevity and amazing tournament knockout game inns)

- Ganguly and Anwar (Excellent longevity records with some great purple patch runs)

- Dravid and Yousuf (developed into quite consistent ODI players and maintained longevity)

Also should have Dhawan as honorary mention for his absolutely crazy clutch ICC tourney record

Sachin Tendulkar
Virat Kohli
Sanath Jayasuriya
Javed Miandad
Aravinda de Silva
Rohit Sharma
Sangakkara
Inzamam ul Haq
MS Dhoni
Saeed Anwar

I always rate Sanath Jayasuriya very highly. Changed the face of modern day batting & lasted much longer than many of his peers like Anwar / Inzamam / Ganguly / Aravinda. Plus he got some big hundreds in Australia & England as well

Dear Bhaijaan,

Do you know what it takes to be a GOAT ODI batsmen? Certainly not what you have described there.

He may be earning whatever but he is just 60% of a test batsmen and a 40% of World Cup batsmen one of his Australian contemporary is and that is what ultimate cricketers should dream of.

It is frightening and scary to think that he is not even in top 20 World Cup batsmen of all-time.

Thanks!

Sachin was top scorer in 3 out of 6 WCs. Kohli is yet to dominate any of his 3 WCs. 2023 is his past chance

Zaheer Abbas was actually pretty good in ODI's. Deserves a spot in top 10 for sure.

Anwar and Inzi were great test bats but we're pretty average in ODI's
Anwar especially was rubbish against the top teams and feasted heavily on Indian trundlers. With time people forget players short comings and different formats and rate players incorrectly.
