Players who are better than their stats suggest

Bro please don't bring up Jaysuria's name infornt of Rizwan and Babar. I'm sure jaysuria would faint if he saw this.

He'd want his name to slander a cricketer like Sheryas Iyer or Shikhar Dhawan, since Jaysuria is so good he makes already good cricketers look medicore.

Babar and rizwan aren't even in Milky way level distance between him.

Jayasuriya in his Yokozuna phase and shot reflex’s, ready to retire his pads, still understood what is required from a modern batter then those two melts

Do you even know how many times Akhtar take wickets of VVS in test cricket??

Grand total - 1

VVS average vs Akhtar - 80 .:kp

Akhtar was seldom hyped against inferior opposition. VVS did good when his guard was down. Akhtar was up for it against the others. Presently, VVS isn’t remembered like the others either.

Ashraful was poor
Yeah I mean he was so poor garbage that he scored a hundred against McGrath, Gillespie, Brad Hodge and Kasprowicz in a game where Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting, Martyn, Clarke and Hussey played. Amir Shoail was overreated to be honest, dont remember if he won any game for Pakistan.
He wasn't, he's not an atg and he isn't that great but his sr of 65 doesn't paint the true picture of his peak when he was genuinely an aggressive player and pretty ahead of his time.

@Rana

Let me re-explain, I think Inzi had the talent to be spoken in the same breath as Sachin and Lara.

He doesn’t have 10000 test runs, except for 92 World Cup semis doesn’t have too many marquee knocks (maybe for Pakistanis but generally speaking).

Lara has a 400, Sachin became the first guy to breach 200 in ODIs;

From Pak even his deputy Yusuf has a record of scoring most runs in a calendar year, Saeed Anwar had the highest individual score, Younis Khan breached 10000 runs, Misbah had the fastest test 100, in that context Inzi massively underachieved as I think he is better than all those including Saeed Anwar.
The one thing which goes against Inzi is that even though his average isn't that bad for the era, he was kind of par ODI player. Other than his exploits in the 1992 Semi-finals and Finals, he never rose to that level again. One thing to be noted that his average of 39 with a SR of just 74 puts him among multiple players of the era. He did not make himself stand out in the ODI format. His stats is comparable to Rahul Dravid who had similar average and SR. So Inzamam should never be compared to both Lara & Sachin and even Saeed Anwar who probably was Pakistan's best white ball batter of that era.

What about umar akmal??

HIs stats are not that great but he was a special player. Had all the strokes and could have been a great player but.

Most batman from this list , top 50 runcoring players averaging between 40 to 45.

One of the greatest ODI knocks of all time, how bloody old was he again? Bangla Power arrived, that’s BD’s WG Grace moment, what a glorious evening it was in Cardiff with the backdrop of sunset colours creeping on the Aussies

It was the prelude to the greatest Ashes summer in British history. Australia just didn’t know it yet, the cracks where there

2005 Ashes can be traced back to one moment- Mc Grath injuring himself. Else would have been a routine British sports summers- loads of hope and optimism and ending with tears.

McGrath was still comprehending what Ashraful done to him, then fell….

Could be or he was contemplating how to further humiliate England post the ridiculously easy win at Lords.

Not downplaying Ashraful's heroics of 2005, but Ashes 2005 was won by England due to absence of 1 man only and to link Ashraful ODI and Ashes together is pure comedy.

His stats were not great, but around 2020ish Mohammad Hafeez as a T20 batter was solid.

He was also a aesthetically pleasing batter when on song.

No he was contemplating what he could have done to India with his buddy Warne, ultimate fluke was the draw achieved down under few years earlier and it was celebrated like... And comedy is he not having the comprehension for satire.

Mahela Jayawardene's ODI stats doesn't look that good (avg below 35) but he definitely was an effective batsmen in ODI. One of the best SL batsmen to come out of SL.

Hafeez’s ODI batting average of 23 until 2010 deserves a special mention.

One of the GOAT averages for a guy who had the biggest yap and opinion on how others should bat!

Hardik Pandya is better than his Limited overs stats.
Ben Stokes better than his test stats.

may be good enough for ODIs too but for sure he is not a long format player

He is excellent if he is 100% fit in ODIs too. Otherwise, he is restricting his bowling and his batting is good but not that good to get a position purely on that.

Mohammad Hafeez Vol 3.0

Stats never show how dangerous a player was at his peak. Loyalists of the game know Hafeez 3.0 was a match winner and stands toe to toe with the greatest like Klusner, Symonds etc.

KL Rahul definitely belongs in this category. He has wasted his talent. KL is a more versatile player than Kohli and Rohit, and he is also technically sound. He is good against both pace and spin. Despite having everything in his arsenal, he has been a huge disappointment.

He is no where close in terms of being more versatile then rohit.

He's more versatile then kohli as kohli is extremely orthodox but kohli is a master at his craft.

Rahul isn't anywhere close

its opposite for KL Rahul tbh

His stats are better than the batsman he actually is.

He was overrated since day one of his international cricket career.

One player who I find doesn't get talked about is shikhar dhawan, Dude was a proper clutch batsmen .

Too bad he fizzled out, That's why kl rahul and Gill replaced him but sadly these 2 aren't close to him in dhawan's prime

What if I say Daniel Vettori?

His stats are not that great but still, he was a good spinner IMO.
