It's very sad about his daughter. I had no idea

I cannot imagine the pain and mental anguish behind what Asif Ali and family have endured.

May well have affected his performance - would be inhuman not to expect that.

Cannot imagine what he's going through. May his daughter make a 100% recovery In-Sha-Allah.

Its really sad and unimaginable what he would be feeling. It would have been tremendously difficult for him to concentrate on anything else let alone cricket during all these times.

Very tragic news. Words cannot to justice to the sufferings a cancer patient and his/her loved ones go through, and it is a testament to the determination and professionalism of Asif who has still managed to play for his team in spite of what his daughter is going through.

Hopefully the cancer has been identified at an early stage and she will eventually be declared cancer-free IA.

Inshallah she will make recovery soon and testament to Asif mental strength he continues to fucntional like a professional on the field however he is a limited batsman and his lack of output is more due to poor technique, lack of game intelligance then any off the field factor.

Asif is someone who should be persisted with in the international side. He can hit the ball farther than anyone else in Pakistan, so it would be great to see him in the side more often. His PSL has been pretty good.

Wishing his daughter the utmost health. I lost my aunty 3 days ago to cancer who was fighting this tough battle over the last few months and eventually it got the better of her. This can be mentally and physically exhausting for the patient and family members. Wishing him the utmost best.

Heartbreaking...

Also the fact that he kept this all private whilst representing his country shows what a genuine and courageous person he is.

May Allah SWT shower his blessings & mercy on his daughter. Many prayers for the speedy recovery of his daughter.

Hope his daughter makes a full recovery

Im glad that atleast this guy plays PSL and would hope that his medical bills could be covered from what he gets from PSL.

One has to admire that he is still playing the PSL and winning games for his team.

Feeling for him and his daughter. Goes to show we don't really know what goes on in the lives of players behind the scenes.

My heart goes out to brave man Asif and his family, all the prayer for them.

We’re very qucik to abuse player if they put in a bad performance without any knowledge of what is going on in their mind and life, heartbreaking news this is.

May Allah give his daughter shifa Ameen

I want to know if PCB has some sort of health insurance policy for their contracted players and the dependants of the player? Cancer treatment can be very expensive and even though Asif is playing PSL he probably might still be financially constricted.

May Allah ease his and his daughter's pain.
Shame on the people that were trolling asif coz of his fielding. People need to understand that players are humans too and we don't know what's going on in their lives. Never troll

I hope all those who were bashing him over the last six months (since the Asia Cup) are now eating their words.

My admiration of him stemming from his batting talent has only reinforced, given the trials and tribulations he's going through. Despite all this his commitment has been impeccable.

May the Almighty put his hardship at ease and give his daughter a swift recovery. In Sha Allah she'll have a long life ahead and make her father proud!

Cleanest hitter in Pakistan for me and when he hits them, they stay hit!

One of the strongest hitters to come out of Asia in recent memory!

Hopefully she recovers inshallah.

Yes I agree its a testament to the professionalism from Asif. To go through what he is going through is adamant that he can play cricket.

I hope his daughter gets well soon. It is not easy to concentrate on your profession when you are going through such hardships. Wishing all the best to Asif and his family.

Oh no.

Hope she is able to fully recover, beat the disease.

That is devastating.
Just goes to show how we have no idea what the players might be going through behind the scenes.

I just hope that Allah gives her a swift recovery inshaAllah.

Really sad and devastating. I am a father of 3 daughters and I can't imagine how this guy has been managing to plY during this testing time

This is really sad to hear, it's amazing how he puts in match-winning performances for his team despite what he must be going through right now, I pray for his daughter to have a speedy recovery Inshallah.

thoughts with Asif and his family. So sad.

Dean Jones not able to hold back his emotions shows how tough it must of been for the whole Islamabad team too.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Asif is still a young guy himself and the burden of this calamity must be so hard for him to carry. I pray that his daughter gets totally cured and lives a long happy life. Ameen.

So sad to hear it's heartbreaking honestly. Today has been such a bad day and you never know what is really happening in the personal lives of players. Inshallah his daughter recovers and lives a good healthy life.

That got me because of how I perceive Dean Jones. I was emotional before but that got me even more so.

I cannot imagine how incredibly difficult it must be to care for a cancer stricken child, whilst having to be on the road constantly away from her.

It's tough to bear even for an older parent, but bear in mind Asif Ali is only in his 20s. I hope she makes a recovery.

Very sad news and I hope Asif’s Daughter is able to make a full and complete recovery!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Asif’s family...

It is extremely tough on a person seeing his/her child in such a pain while trying to entertain masses. May GOD bless the child and make the family strong to hang in.

O’ pyaare Allah SWT, Asif Ali ki beiti kou shifaa ata farma, ameen.

Having 3 children myself, I know how it hurts even if they get a slightly ill during winters, but his daughter is suffering from cancer. I am such an ungreatful man, really. Ya Allah khair.

I sent Asif Ali a message yesterday, wishing him and his family well, on behalf of PakPassion.

Some questions

Is this a recent development i.e the illness and cancer diagnosis or something thats been known for a while?

Really touching moment. There was complete silence as Deano walked out of the presser.

For those who might not get it, what he's talking about is here, the first question at this presser earlier during the tournament:

Hmm, if the journalist knew what was going on than thats quite poor from him.

If he didn't knew, then its ok, the journalist could be forgiven.

I really appreciate how the coach was there for his player. He stood up for him. Funny how PSL bring all these guys close together, yet its a tournament thats played for 4-5 weeks once in an year.

Wow. Such a tragic news. Hope God gives him and his daughter the strength to fight this. It requires a great deal of mental strength and it's amazing the way he handled this so far.

Asif Ali has shown a lot of heart to continue playing and performing despite going through such a difficult period.

Asif Ali really shouldn't be playing, even though he wants to. I hope he takes a break now and stays by his daughter's side. He deserves that at least.

You can only Love Dean Jones the effection and humanly attachment and caring for his team players on personal level is amazing and it must have been v hard for Asif. May almighty give his child a long and prosperous life. Respect ✊ for Deono. PSL is becoming a great tournament and it has helped bringing people from different backgrounds, religion and beliefs together under 1 umbrella ☂️.

Who will pay him?

This is the tragedy of our cricket. Unless they are part of some league etc all the time, they have no other way to feed themselves.

I know its not IU's job but would be great (even behind closed doors) if they can support him through this phase.

Well that's where the PCB or the Islamabad United owner help in this regard. A man cannot be going through this because he has to pay the bills.

He'd be getting all the help he needs and his daughter all the care she deserves.

O Lord! Please remove her suffering and grant her full recovery. Grant her family with the strength and fortitude to face this difficult test.

Can we not raise money on PP for his daughters treatment? Surely, this will help him and ease the financial burden.

I've asked Asif. But he's a very private person but let's see.

That’s absolutely the role of the PCB. Asif is a national cricketer. The PCB should provide health coverage for players and their families. If we want to ensure players stay clean we need to ensure they are provided adequate financial support and benefits.

Just to give everyone an update.

We have offered Asif Ali any help he and his family needs regarding the health of his daughter.

In fact one of the PP moderators is good friends with a cancer specialist in the UK and we have mentioned this to Asif.

Asif has said that he appreciates the offer of support and that he will let us know if he needs this.

May Allah restore her health.
Really feel for Asif.

How will he be available for England series though?

Man, have to respect the way ISB United team has taken care of this matter

Hope Asif's daughter recovers

Best wishes to his daughter.

As yet, nothing from PCB regarding Asif missing any matches versus England.

Find it hard to open this thread, these are situations no parent should bear. I hope something positive comes out of this US trip.

So Asif Ali was playing international cricket and PSL while going through this? :salute

Hope his daughter makes full recovery. It will be heart breaking for any parent to go through something like this.

And then we keep complaining about our lifes.

We should take a moment to realise how blessed we all are.

Best wishes to Asif’s daughter and inshaAllah she’ll be fine.

Hats off to PakPassion!

So sad. Stage 4 is serious. Really feel for Asif Ali - it puts life into perspective when you realize people are going through this :(

Heartbreaking. May Allah give his daughter full recovery.
