Asif Ali’s daughter passes away after battling with cancer

Really sad and I hope that she recovers fully from this. My prayers are with Asif's family.

It’s sad there’s no mention of PCB in his tweet. I know this is not the time or thread but shouldn’t PCB have provided some support?
Hats off to Islamabad for taking care of him.

Did Asif request PCB to skip him from selecting in the matches and if they denied him? He may have elected to be in England and be part of the team.

She’s in a very critical condition I believe I just saw rashid latif discussing about her on game on hai if Asif Ali should go to his family or stay with the team pray to Allah that she gets well soon ameen

Very sad to hear this. Wish her a speedy recovery. May Almighty grant her health and a long life.
 
So upsetting for him. I can't imagine what he is going through. If he plays at the WC, I really hope he does well. But for now he should spend some time with his family and should only play at the WC if he feels mentally right.
 
I just heard this.
I am so devastated and incredibly heart broken for Asif.
I do not want to imagine his pain.May Allah grant him Sabr un Jameel.

How upsetting. For him to have played as well as he has in spite of being so much pressure says a lot about his temperament. My heartiest condolences.

Why was Asif Ali even playing with all this going on? Will he be in the right frame of mind to play the WC?
 
So heartbreaking :( For Asif Ali to perform as well as he did in this series is a testament of his character. There's no one more I could wish to pick up man of the tournament.

Same happened with Saeed Anwar, he couldn't play cricket again.
Asif should go back to pakistan and help himself and his wife. Cricket is nothing compared to this.
 
This is absolutely devastating, I don't know what to say. My thoughts and prayers with Asif and his family. Rest in Peace.

For those who are saying he should not go into the WC because of this ought to know, he needs to put food on the table. Our players don't get IPL salaries and are paid peanuts in domestics.

Also he may never play in a WC again, so this might be the only time he features in the sport's most prestigious competition.
 
Such sad news. I can’t imagine what pain he and his family is going through.

He has the heart of a lion to go through it and give 100% to his country on the field.

Horrific news.

He should spend time with his family and I have no idea how he has managed to carry on playing with all this going on - credit to him.

I think it’s shocking he was having to play cricket especially in the summer months when his daughter was in stage 4? Of cancer

You think of all the terminally ill children who are given trips to the likes of Disneyland and it makes you wonder and feel even more sorry for Asif Ali and his family

I feel extremely sorry for Asif Ali, he couldn't even spend his daughter's last moments with her. Don't know how he must be feeling. As i said, cricket is nothing compared to this.
He needs support from people around him.

Yes must be a horrible choice he was faced with. So sad. It will either make him desperate to win the WC or he'll be in no state to play cricket for a while. The management has to figure out which.

The wise thing to do would set up a collection for people to donate to to cover his World Cup fees so he can go and spend time with his grieved loved ones
 
I am heartbroken after hearing this news. I had been following this news since PSL when Dean Jones talked about it. I just can't. . Devastating news.

I just hope Asif is able to cope with this. He is still a young guy and it must feel like a killer blow to him. I will pray for him today.

Some reporters are saying that the pcb are arranging tickets for asif to go to Pakistan.

Lord knows the pain he must be suffering through right now especially for him to have been away from her at this time. Devastating news. Love and strength for him and his family and lots of prayers for the departed soul.

This is truly devastating news and I am so sorry for Asif and his family. Cricket means nothing when you hear such terrible news and I just pray that Asif is able to cope with his grief.

He shouldn't be playing in the WC, period. The PCB need to pay for funeral arrangements and help Asif and his family as much as they can. He really should've been with his family anyway.
 
I feel instead of playing for Pakistan Asif should have been with his family. I feel it could hurt him not being with family at critical time

Stage 4 cancer and that too in kids has an extremely poor prognosis. I can't even imagine being in his shoes for last few months. It's like hoping against hope for a person with stage 4 cancer and yet putting up a dedicated performance professionally on the stage.
I hope her innocent soul rests in heaven and Asif and his family be granted a lot of sabr and patience.
It doesn't get tougher than this for Asif. Hopefully he (and his family) will fight through this period and will come back soon as an even stronger individual.

His second family and love has been PCT. So even if PCB decides to not include him in WC squad, arrangements should be made for him to stay with team during WC.
 
As a father of a beautiful daughter, it tears me to read of this unfortunate piece of news.

The mind has to accept what the heart does not want to believe.

Absolutely heart breaking news.

Really puts everything into perspective. We all spend days and weeks on here discussing cricket, world cup, team selection, batting order etc. etc. - but this sort of incident just gives everyone a reality check.

May Allah grant him and his family save during this unimaginably difficult time. I can't even imagine what he must be going through - specially being so far away from his daughter during her last few days. Brings years to my eyes just thinking about it.

Based on performance I think Asif has more than earned his spot in the WC squad - the rest should be left upto him to decide. Let him decide how long he wants to go home for and let him decide if he thinks he should or shouldn't play the WC. This is way bigger than any cricket match or World Cup and Asif and his families wishes should be respected.
 
I am feeling extremely gutted being a father of a lovely daughter. I can't and do not want to imagine what Asif is going thru. Daughters are the most precious gift of nature. RIP doll.

What a sad news. Toughest thing for a parent is watching your child go thru pain and unable to do anything to ease the pain. This is a tough time for Asif Ali and his wife. My sympathies and prayers for his family and may The Lord grant him peace that passes understanding.
 
This situation reminds me of Saeed Anwar and his daughter's illness. Unfortunately for Anwar - his career came to a tragic end after the death of his daughter in 2001.

I hope Asif Ali is able to somewhat recover from this tragic setback and may he enjoy a long success career in Pakistan colors :)
