Atiq Ahmed: Former Indian politician and brother shot dead live on TV

Does not change fact that India is a 3rd world country and not safe for muslims

India is certainly a lot safer for muslims than some of the 'Fortresses of Islam' where hundreds are killed in a bomb blast in a mosque during prayers, and where muslims are killed in stampedes while waiting in line for some flour to break their Ramzan fast.

You will be surprised by how many people actually care about RSS

These days in India, engaging in politics have become a form of livelihood. The employment rate is relatively higher in South India, hence you dont see many people engaging in anyform of politics unless, they are really interested.

Very few people actually care about RSS intentions (I dont even consume any information about them), but support BJP cat the center casue, most people are fed up with appeasement politics by Congress. The middle class masses which comprise the largest voting population are inclined towards reforms that bring more employment and BJP capitalized that. The Congress communication message was always on Socialism but BJP was at least successful in their “Make in India” sort of messages (though results of it may be debatable)

So, large population doesnt really care about RSS as much you hear on Social media

I am not suggesting that every single Indian is a RSS supporter, but there is no denying that there is a rise in Hindu Nationalism since Modi was elected PM. Prior to Modi, RSS was very much dwelling in the backgrounds of Indian Hindu society.

I remember when Modi visited the UK after his election win in 2014, he packed Wembley Stadium with 60000 of his supporters (he did something similar in the USA). This was unheard of for an Indian PM visiting the the West, but the reality was that British Hindus paid to see Modi, and this was simply because of their affiliation with Hindu Nationalism, because for the first time, a Hindu majority was governing India and there was now a sense of entitlement for Indian Hindus all over the world, including India.

While it is obvious that RSS has a major influence in the Indian government, this influence also trickles down to society, and not just in India. As I said not every Indian Hindu is a RSS supporter, but there is clearly a rise in RSS support. On social media it is actually worse because of anonymity, and even on PP, it is very clear who and who is not a RSS supporter.

This is not to mention that brawls between Hindu Nationalists vs Muslim (UK), Hindus Nationalists vs Sikhs (Australia), are now more frequent, this was absolutely unheard of before Modi was in power. Not to mention the countless videos shared of Indian Hindus chanting 'Jai Shree Ram' while committing murder.

The problem is not nationalism itself, there is nothing wrong in being proud of your national, but problems do start when nationalism is based on religion and especially right-wing. So while the majority of Indians may not care about Indian politics, they do care about Hindu nationalism, which right now, is intertwined with the Indian government.

Side point, 'Make In India' and the current economy of India is not because of BJP, but Manmohan Singh who through who his economic policies, liberalised the Indian economy - BJP have been riding on the coat-tails of his policies ever since.

So is India being the 5th largest economy but you like to twist those facts because you don’t like it lol or the leader in digital transactions. Do you always skip that part?

Have you seen the roads and infrastucture in indian cities. Its terrible. Even celebrities live in areas that look like middle class localities in Pakistan. India is on the right path but looks terrible to visitors. Even indians like Javed akhtar get shocked when they see actual highways and clean cities on their visit to Pakistan.

You are not too off there and I won’t be surprised with what you say. Cities in Pakistan have low population density compared to Indian cities. Not comparing Indian cities to New York obviously but a city like Atlanta or Houston will look way better and planned than NYC. If you look beyond the glamor and charm of NYC from movies it is obvious.

Cities like Mumbai, Kolkata can give you a panic attack if you are not used to high volume of people.

I have seen visuals of Karachi on YouTube and it looks a lot like Mumbai in some areas minus the skyscrapers and business district. I believe that’s the most densely populated city in Pakistan too. Also Islamabad and some areas of Lahore are planned if I am not mistaken due to army influence. Outside of Chandigarh most Indian cities have had no planning except the business districts for obvious reasons. Thats why sometimes you get the feel you are in 2 countries within the same country.

As far as Javed Akthar goes good to see you follow all the things he says or said and hope it’s not a case of selective amnesia.

The killers, Lovelesh Tiwari, Arun Maurya and Sunny Singh, had trailed the arrested gangster as journalists for an entire day before shooting him in front of television cameras and dozens of policemen on Saturday.

Three men, who work for a local news website, have been detained in Uttar Pradesh's Banda for showing the ropes of reporting to Tiwari, the police said.

Sorry I'm late and it's Page 3 of this thread, but again - BIMARU gonna BIMARU.

It's obvious that Bisht was behind this episode. He is going to drag us down to our own version of the Af-Pak Taliban hell.

Uttar Pradesh minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dharmpal Singh on Sunday claimed the Opposition's involvement in the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad. Singh alleged that Ahmed was going to reveal many secrets after his arrest, which led to his killing.

Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf were killed last week while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj. Atiq was accused of the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005 and the killing of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the BSP leader's murder, in February this year.

"The truth is that the opposition is involved in getting Atiq killed. Some serious secrets were about to be revealed, that's why the opposition got him murdered," said Singh, the state animal husbandry and dairy development minister, who arrived here on Friday to attend the BJP workers' conference for the Chandausi civic polls.

Three men posing as journalists opened fire at Atiq and Ashraf outside a hospital in Prayagraj while they were speaking to the mediapersons. The shooters were soon taken into police custody and were later identified as Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh, and Arun Maurya.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf at Prayagraj hospital on April 15. The court order came on a PIL filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari demanding a judicial probe into the killing and similar killings in the state.

The court asked the state government to inform the steps taken to investigate the deaths and an encounter of his son prior to the incident. The matter will be heard after three weeks.

Advocate Vishal Tiwari had mentioned before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud seeking an urgent hearing of his plea. Tiwari mentioned in the court that his plea sought a probe into the extra-judicial killings in Uttar Pradesh.

In his plea, Tiwari sought to constitute an independent expert committee under the chairmanship of a former Supreme Court judge to inquire into the killing of Atiq and Ashraf.

He also moved a plea in the Supreme Court seeking to constitute an independent expert committee to inquire into the 183 encounters which had occurred since 2017 as stated by the Uttar Pradesh Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) and also to inquire into the police custody murder of Atiq and Ashraf.

UP Gangster Anil Dujana, Out On Bail In Murder Case, Killed In Encounter

Anil Dujana, who was known to terrorise people in Noida, Ghaziabad and other areas in Delhi-National Capital Region, was killed in the encounter with the UP Police's special task force (STF) in Meerut

Meerut:

The Uttar Pradesh police's special task force has shot dead another gangster in an encounter.

Anil Dujana, who was known to terrorise people in Noida, Ghaziabad and other areas in Delhi-National Capital Region, was killed in the encounter with the UP Police's special task force (STF) in Meerut.

He faced over 60 criminal cases.

Dujana was released from jail just a week ago after getting bail in a murder case. Immediately after that, he started threatening one of the key witnesses in the murder case filed against him, sources said.

Dujana had decided to kill the witness, they said.

The STF then moved in to arrest him. During the operation, Dujana and his gang engaged the police, leading to a gunfight and his death, sources said.

The encounter happened on an unpaved road, surrounded by tall bushes, in a village in Meerut. The police said he and his gang had been hiding there and opened fired at the STF operatives during approach. The police team returned fire immediately.

After Dujana threatened the witness, the police left nothing to chance as witnesses in key cases have been killed in recent times.

In February, the witness in the murder case of a Bahujan Samaj Party leader was shot dead by Asad Ahmed, the son of gangster Atiq Ahmed. Asad was killed in an encounter last month, and his father was also shot dead on camera near a hospital while talking to reporters in UP's Prayagraj.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said many times he intends to get rid of hardened criminals and gangsters from the state.

Since March 2017 when Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, 183 gangsters have died in encounters, the UP Police said last month. Thirteen policemen were killed in action during the same period. Eight of them were ambushed in a narrow lane in Kanpur by the aides of gangster Vikas Dubey. The gangster was killed in an encounter subsequently.

Atiq Ahmed: The life of India's gangster-politician killed on live TV

Last month, Atiq Ahmed, one of India's most dreaded gangster-politicians, was shot dead live on TV along with his brother. The shocking murder marked the end of his four-decade-long reign of terror in Prayagraj, a city once known for its rich culture. Soutik Biswas in New Delhi and Vikas Pandey in Prayagraj piece together Ahmed's tumultuous life, in which the boundaries between crime and politics became blurred.

On a foggy January morning in 2005, Raju Pal, a newly-minted lawmaker, was travelling in the northern Indian city of Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) when two vehicles suddenly appeared out of nowhere, swerved dangerously and pulled up in front of his Toyota SUV.

More than half-a-dozen men jumped out and began firing into the car at Pal. After raining several rounds from their handguns, they walked away. Bystanders pulled out the crumpled, bleeding legislator and carried him to another vehicle to take him to the hospital.

Then the men returned to attack their dying target some more.

Ravindra Pandey, a crime reporter, was sipping coffee in a bustling cafeteria when he spotted a convoy of cars carrying the assailants race by, unleashing a barrage of bullets at the vehicle ferrying the wounded politician to the hospital.

They were in hot pursuit until the vehicle reached the hospital. In a final act of ruthless brutality, the men fired a couple of rounds into an inert Pal to make sure he was dead. Doctors found 19 bullets in his body. The lawmaker, who allegedly had close links with the underworld himself, had been married for just nine days.

"We saw the shooting. The entire city saw the shooting. This was the first such incident here. Everyone knew who was responsible for the attack," recounts Mr Pandey.

At that time, Atiq Ahmed was already Prayagraj's most feared gangster-turned-politician. A year before the killing, he had become an MP after five consecutive terms as a legislator from the city in Uttar Pradesh state.

Pal was allegedly killed because he had dared to challenge Ahmed on his own turf. Ahmed had bequeathed his Allahabad West seat in the state elections to his brother and fellow strongman, Ashraf, in order to fight - and eventually win - a parliamentary election from neighbouring Phulpur (a prestigious seat that had previously sent India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to parliament thrice). However, Ashraf had suffered a shock defeat by 4,000 votes at the hands of Pal. The gangster and his men had reportedly taken revenge by getting Pal murdered, and were named as the main accused in the case.
