Attending Friday prayers

I try to avoid religious topics online (most of the time) as the discussion devolves into a lot of finger pointing at times, but thought this was a good topic.

The strictness of Friday prayer is emphasized on in Islam, think if you miss 3 Friday prayers in a row then you are really frowned upon, but what if you are in the west and sometimes school or work doesn't permit it?

Friday prayer is probably the one aspect of Islam every Muslim clings onto doesn't matter if they are devout followers or just barely follow it, they'll still attend. Have met Muslims who drink and have committed some other major sin yet still attend Friday prayer so I feel p bad when I have to miss it.

So yeah missing one of them feels like I wasted a day maybe because it's suppose to be a habit by now I suppose. Do any of you struggle attending friday prayers as well living abroad or is it something you get used to?

Yes, sometimes I have to miss Friday prayers because I get called into mandatory meetings or something super critical is going on at work. My previous place of employment had a few Muslims so we used to book a meeting room during lunch hour and pray there, but now its just me and a few others (who don't pray) so I have to go to a mosque which is 10-15 minutes away by car and the prayer there is held at 1:30. This means by the time I get back it is 2:30ish and I get alot of looks like "hey buddy having a 2.5 hour lunch".

The point that I'm trying to make is, I struggle to attend every single Friday prayers, but I always try to go.

Easier for Pakistani PP'ers to say "oh you should always pray even during work hours" while living in an overly-religious Muslim country. Don't judge someone before walking a mile in their shoes.

Also the molvis in my uni chat too much rubbish during the kutbah the few times I was able to go, I felt it incites hatred when he should be advocating, peace, love and important consituents of our religion which would be useful; also he may have been a salafi or a wahabi, I don't want to read behind Imams with beliefs I don't agree with.

Looks like your one was trying to start a holy war literally lmao I've been unfortunate to listen to such sermons by arriving 30-60 mins in advance after being given a time which I thought was the start of the Jamat, sometimes you just feel like praying in a Jamat for Jumma when you're able to but when I have doubts about their beliefs I still pray Zuhur after

Terrible . Its unfortunate he does not know the seerat of prophet . Did prophet ever speak like that ?

Jummah is important..i like to pray in a large gathering. Unfortunately the historic 600 year old Jamia masjid here had been locked down by indian army since 5 months only until last jummah when prayers were allowed. It was the longest lockdown since the lockdown which was imposed by maharaja in 1800s.

No point praying 5 times a day , 365 days a year, yet behaving like an idiot and having bad "Haqooq-ul-Ibad".

I don't pray at all, I admit it.

But I try to not disrespect people's rights and help them as much as possible.

There was this imam in the us who used to indulge in all kinds of conspiracy theories but yes nothing confrontational or threatening

If it was me honestly I'd be tempted to report the imam

both are very very important aspects of islam.
one falls under fulfilling the rights of Allah and the other under the rights of the people, like u say.

i live in england and work as a finance professional and i think that people are quite accomodating of when u take ur lunch break and how long it is, especially when they see somebody is a good worker

This is the Hadith :

The hadith which speaks about one who misses three Juma, does not indicate to one becoming an unbeliever. Instead, it mentions that a seal is placed over his heart. The hadith states that Abu Qatada (R.A) narrates that the Prophet (S.A.S) said, ‘Whoever leaves out Juma three times without a valid necessity, then a seal is placed on his heart’. (Majma’uz Zawaa’id)

A similar tradition has been recorded by Imam Abu Dawood in which it is narrated that the Prophet (S.A.S) said, ‘Whoever misses the Juma three times on account of negligence, then Allah will put a seal on his heart. (Tirmizi, Abu Dawood)



What your parents have been told by Maulana hazraat is their personal opinion which in my view cannot be inferred from these sayings of Hadith.


Atleast Allah's Prophet Pbuh never said that.

idiots will always be idiots, don't let others judge your actions, whether it is people moaning about you not praying or people questioning why you are late to lunch; tell them you went and prayed.

Would you want your child to hear what that guy has to say ? If not, report him to the authority or try to have him removed, by doing this you are only doing good for Muslims.

As a fellow Muslim Brother/Uncle and as a religious leader you might have soft feelings and respect for Imam sahib. It is very Natural.


But you must report him. For a noble cause. So that He undergoes rehab.


Hazur Pbuh was Salaamti for whole World abd so wss His Pbuh mission. This man is doing enough to brain wash an immature mind or those having lesser cognitive powers. God forbid it can result in Non Muslims getting harmed and it will bring bad name for Islam & Muslims. Overall it would be bad for society.

The fact was the church infront of the mosque was shutting down and the mosque's administration had bought the land and they were going to demolish it and build a mosque in its place. .However, the maulvi sahab made it feel like the victory of Muslims over the infidels lol.

When he said it all the namazee were looking here and there confused as to what is going on, then a junior maulvi took the mike from him and clarified the situation and then conducted the rest of the sermon.

Try confronting to him first and try to see if he can be reasoned if not then you go to the authorities, you could also threaten him by letting him know you'll give the cops a heads up if he gives the same sermons again.
