Attitude of Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan : A breath of fresh air?

We Pakistanies have always been the aggressive ones on the field, never backing away from on-field fire but it had died down a bit in recent years, obviously due to off-field issues and also Misbah's calm attitude (misbah's attitude was def needed so nothing against tht) but things seem to be coming back... i love the passion with which Imad and Shadab played PSL... def love to see it and with Sarfraz having the typical Karachite street smartness and "Over power the opposition with mind games (obviously the king of it was Miandad) , " philosophy, find it a positive thing for Pakistan... and with Aamir, Wahab, Sohail and Hassan Ali also not easy butters, looks like we might see tht same fire on the field...

thoughts?

Need more such players instead of the laid back and timid players Pakistan is producing.

This Pakistani fire helped us win alot of matches in the 90s but it also resulted in some pretty embarrassing defeats as well.

That being said, ten times out of ten I would chose defeat in which we fought valiantly over meek surrender which has been the norm during the Misbah and Azhar era.

saw tht fire in Fakhar Zaman as well.... a lot has to do with the leader... Azhar was way too soft.... with Sarfraz, this would def help the youngsters....

Misbah's era was after the most embarrassing times for Pak cricket, so probably it was required but Azhar's appointment was a proper setback.... so Misbah good, Azhar bad :P

Yup great to see.

We are transforming into a very, very dangerous side.

Very close to becoming unstoppable.

Wao some exaggeration there!

You can pick any of the top 5 ODI ranked teams. Pakistan would very likely lose a 5 match ODI series to each one of those. That is not how you define "close becoming unstoppable".

Qualities that a young side should have: pride, confidence, liveliness, flash, energy, and rowdiness.
Ideally after the Misbah era we should of filled the team with youngsters who have these qualities, but we wasted two years on Azhar. Hopefully oldies are kicked out soon and the younger players get more chances.

really?

when so?

I don't remember us being all aggressy during Inzamam's captaincy. Nor did i saw during Afridi's captaincy either. Even in Younis captaincy i dont recall. Neither Maliks. Even Butts

Haha you missed the sarcasm

Dont forget Rumaan raees.

Good to see players who dont take any nonsense. It's expected from young people rather than 40 yo Babas.

Nooe, no sarcasm.

Give it 2 more years and you'll see us in the top 4. All formats.

I fail to see how oldies like Hafeez, Malik, K. Akmal, and Wahab will improve in the next two years. They will only deteriorate as cricketers.

Attiude should be backed up by skills.

Imad only has attitude, no skill.

I find nothing exceptional about Imad's attitude and skill wise his is rubbish too being a bits and pieces player at best.

No turn or spin whatsoever in his bowling and the less said about his batting the better...

well he has played enough cricket and in enough conditions for us to judge him and so far he has been xtremly useful.. he bowled well in england, although in england we failed as a bowling unit but his performance was better than the lot..... he bowled xtremly well in australia... his performance in UAE was xtremly well...so he is passing the test so far... his biggest test will be against likes of india and SL who play spin better than others... but so far he is one of the first names on the list...

batting, he isnt a slogger so he needs to bat slightly up the order, maybe a good no5/6 but that needs to be worked on.. i think with success of shadab khan as a bowler and his ability to be a lot more 360 player than imad will put pressure on him to improve his batting to retain his place

Its secondary but still a breath of fresh air, I dont really like nice cricketers especially fast bowlers. If you give a smile to the batsman after getting hit for four then you aint a fast bowler

By the way early days with Shadab, could be another Umar Akmal - let's see.

Imad Wasim is already worse than Umar akmal - has not performed since the England ODI series.

You can thank the trio for that - Pakistan had to be cleaner than clean after the 2010 fixing affair so we had to go out of our way to imorove our behaviour. We've probably gone too far to the other end of the spectrum.

I don't mind a bit of chirping like Sarfraz does behind the stumps. Javed Miandad and Amir Sohail were good at sledging with humour.

But I don't want prima donnas, crassness or obnoxious attitudes from players who have no skill to back it up. I know a lot of Pak fans are looking at Kohli's India right now, and I like them giving some stick back to the Aussies, but there has to be a limit.

West Indies series? Austrailia Series (Just had one bad game where everyone took the beating), PSL17? Seriously, the amount of hate Imad Wasim gets on this forum is unbelievable.

Imad batted like a tailender in the Aus series and the PSL (didn't really got a chance to bat in the Windies series). His bowling is okay, has some good days, but he is not good enough to be a specialist spinner. Needs to perform with the bat or get the boot.

He himself accepted about his batting failures in Austrailia in a recent interview and aimed to rectify it, so where is the attitude problem?

His attitude suggests that he is some superstar whereas in reality he is a mediocre player at best.

Shadab has the confidence that he will succeed and belives in his ability which is good to see.
