Don't know whether this is true or not as heard it from a friend:
In WCT20 2012 Afridi was caught at square leg boundary especially when dhoni had moved the fielder keeping in view Afridi batting.Afridi still played shot in that direction.

When he was asked later what he was trying, his response was "Mein to Single lene ki koshish kar raha tha".

Not surprised.

Its beggars belief that someone who speaks and thinks like this

A) Played so many games for pakistan
B) Was made the captain of the team

The same captain who led our team to the SF in 2011 and as the leading wicket taker? The guy who brought home the 2009 trophy? This guy may have been inconsistent but he won us games from losing positions and could’ve won us the World Cup had misbah, younis and akmal held on to their catches.

Clearly throwing Misbah under the bus.

Misbah has done tons more for Pakistan cricket than Afridi, and the latter has been 'performing' since the 1990s.

Not to forget the asia cups he won us single handedly

Lol hilarious audio clip. Afridi was a free spirit and remained true to his nature all through his career. Gotto respect that.

This raised a few eyebrows when he said it but also generated a few laughs too.

that why he played after 2011. Had he thought about cricket he would have retired with some respect in 2011.

TBF there is nothing to laugh on such a poor statement. Misbah backed both these guys a lot. Basically included them in the WC2015 when they clearly shouldnt have been.

Now here they are making such cheap jokes.
Losers they are.

Do you think these comments are acceptable from a 40 yr old ex captain?

Im sorry but its shameful And the less we talk about his performances the better He lost far more matches from winning positions than he ever won due to his irresponsible nature which he carries to this day

There were always whisperings of Afridi not happy at Misbah being the ODI skipper.

Exactly . Afridi is one of the worst things to ever happen in Pakistani cricket in my opinion , others can disagree.

Nothing wrong with the comments. Just because he said ‘tuk tuk’ It doesn’t mean he was referring to misbah, Pakistan had many tuk tuks prior to misbah!

From winning positions? Lol half of Afridi’s innings he was coming in at 23-4, he’s not the type of player to construct a long partnership. Fact is Afridi was unfortunate to be playing with a bunch weak links who couldnt change the tempo of the game. If he was playing for Australia or India, he’d be an ATG

Nice make belief that Afridi was the one who won you the final when everyone knows we had to chase 130 odd which is nothing in a final. The game was set up by Razzaq and Ajmal in the initial overs and Amir getting the prize wicket of Dilshan... and before that Ajmal and Umar Gul were your best bowlers in the tournament, not to mention Younis was captain... but yes carry on giving the credit for the win to Afridi

Even though this is a jibe at Misbah, Afridi and Misbah get along really well and have supported each other openly, even though there might be some grievances they never made it public. So this is a harmless statement. Misbah is too thick skinned to let any of these sort of comments affect him

Honestly 23.57 isn't the worst average for a lower order batsman who has a SR 117. These are basically Steven smith's stats in T20s.

Afridi of course and listen YK stupid sheepish way of laughing. Misbah was 10 times the captain afridi was.

Also remember they way Afridi behaved during the WC2015 as if he was on a holiday! 0 intent or performance.

In 2016 when he retired a good 5 years too late he came with the gem that PAK has no talent. A year later we all know what happened WITHOUT Afridi:stokes

Don't know about Australia but if he was a player for India, he would have been discarded in 50 matches. Heck I will be surprised if he can survive our domestic structure.

Right, I can clearly see your domestic cricket has provided with stars who are already winning overseas?

All cricketers who have good records should be respected regardless of which country they represent.

What has winning overseas got to do with this?? You are talking about stats which came because of him playing 400 matches. No player with such a pathetic record ends up playing 400 matches. Heck even after 400 matches you don't know if he is a bowler or a batsman or an all rounder.

for the second half of his career, Afridi was among the best LOI spinner's. People choose to look at his batting to judge him (understandably so in some cases), but the reality is he was a bowler who could slog a little (bowling all-rounder at best)

judging Afridi for his batting is akin to viewing Shadab as a batsmen

There is a name for such players... bits and pieces.

Azhar tuk tuk'd, others tonk-tonked, both strategies failed...

Ideal strategy is somewhere in the middle.. :yk

That's why he underachieved with so much talent, had he played with little brain, would have won most of the matches for Pakistan single handedly.

Lala was a batter who bowled and bowler who batted. He was whatever you wanted him to be. And he won his team their only second ICC trophy win singlehandedly.

And you don't think he would survive in Indian domestics?
