What's new

Australia [258/7] beat New Zealand [187] by 71 runs in the first ODI, lead series 1-0

N.z is useless outside countries that offer pitches conducive to swing. Hence they are only good in England and n.z. That's pathetic. I take back everything I said. Overrated team. One dimensional team. I looked up the record and that's the first thing I noticed.

Predictable, cowardly performance by NZ as it always is against Australia.

On a separate note, how weird was that without a single person in the crowd! A bit like watching a Test match.

Matches should be called off, I felt asleep a few times. Not going to watch the rest of the matches, was excited about the series. Not any more :inti

To lose to this Aus team is especially bad. They look woeful and are far weaker than the Indian team we recently swept.

We've taken a different approach for both series and the results are there to see.

Jamieson has to be in for Sodhi next game, he was off with ball and does not offer much with the bat.

We went toe to toe with India and England on their roads. If it weren't for dropped catches or bad finishing in the deciders we would have won both of those series.

England's pitches aren't conducive to swing, those are roads for bilaterials. It's funny because I swear you were one of the Indian fans crying about their pitches being roads and killing ODIs.

Australia know how to beat NZ.

I'm certain had Australia been playing NZ in the WC semi instead of India, NZ would not have made the final.

talking about test series. They are only good in swing conditons. I agree in odi England are flat roads. Anyway their record is only good in 2 countries. N.z and England even in odi.

Actually the semi final and final were slow pitches in swing friendly conditons. Only reasonably n.z even got that far.

Even in 2015, it was because they played in n.z

They are no doubt a good team at home. Swing bullies.

In this match it seems fielders themselves had to get into the gallery to search & pick the balls! So the importance of crowd & mass following is so crucial! This only indicates the popularity and interest for the game in places like India without which cricket is going to go extinct with other sports prevailing...
