Australia [323] defeat Sri Lanka [144 & 139] by an innings and 40 runs to win the 1st Test match

Australia needed this performance, be it against a depleted SL Team.

Batting is still a concern for Australia hopefully the returns of their key players before the Ashes helps there batting and we see a competitive Ashes.

That DRS decision for Thirimanne seemed pretty ordinary, one of the frames showed that the spike on snicko was when the ball passed the left elbow but the third umpire seemed to ignore it. Instead he chose to believe that there was a delay between the noise and the frame on screen. Pretty mystifying and Thirimanne has every right to be displeased.

That is why this "soft signal" has to go away. Soft signal makes it harder to overturn the decision.

Like i said earlier. Only SA, India and maybe NZ can challenge this, weakest of all time, OZ in OZ. Others can only dream about doing what India did earlier.

Add Windies to that. They would surely give this Australian team a run for their money. Holder, Gabriel, Joseph are too hot to handle for these Aussie batters. Hope, Hetmyer, Brathwaite, Chase and Holder is a good enough batting line up to get enough score in the board.

Don't think so. Windies are good in their backyard but rubbish away and Australia is one of the harder places to tour.

SA has a very weak batting line up at the moment with Amla and QdK (though he scored a hundred against Pakistan) out of form. Not sure if they can challenge Australia in Australia.

They have beaten stronger OZ sides over the last decade though so gotta give them the benefit of doubt.

Disgrace that Lanka lost by an innings after all that Australia scored was 323.
