What's new

Australia "A" vs Pakistan "A" | 1st ODI | Adelaide | 10/07/2009

A few good hits by Abdur Rehman at the end. 339 is a very good effort by the 'A' team

What an astonishing performance by our A-Team. Didn't really expect them to do so well in this tour. They played well in the Test series and now they have cracked up 340 runs in ODI and that too against Tait and Bollinger. Fantastic.

Umar Akmal is a dynamiteeeeeee! Century after century regardless of the format. Get this guy on the very first flight to Sri Lanka and drop him over Salman Butt (as someone suggested here) haha!

Great effort by the boys. With bowlers like Talha & Wahab one would expect that the match is pretty much in the bag.

If they are not able to defend this score then I reckon the team should pack their bags and come back home. :)

Terrific batting display. Our batting lineup absolutely manhandled the Aussies today. I thought our guys would have a tough time handling Shaun Tait but clearly he still has things to sort out.

He would have been a wonderful addition to the Aussies in the Ashes if he just betters his control and accuracy issues that are holding him down.

Talha starts off with a maiden !

Perhaps Tait should get some lessons from Talha on how to bowl your opening over :))) .

Good start by Pakistan. Let's just keep them under severe pressure and limit the boundaries. Chasing 300+ is never easy in any league, on any surface.

Over 1.6: Masood to Henriques, no run, drops the ball down at his feet and sent back. Another maiden, not what you need when chasing 340.

The commentators at Cricket Australia don't seem to be impressed - and rightly so :)))

Over 2.5: Talha to Paine, no run, swing and a miss outside off stump, beaten for pace there.

our 150 kph bowler??

Isnt this AUS A team basically the team that toured Abu Dhabi .. give or take a few names likes Symo and Clarke ..

Perhaps Tait can give Talha some lessons on playing and winning World Cup finals :D

Aus A are no chance at this target barring a miracle. Cannot see this batting line up scoring 300+ on any pitch against anyone.

Masood to Paine, no run, OUT, oh dear a huge mix up. Paine drops the ball behind point, Henriques sets off and Paine doesn't, they're at the same end. A horror mix-up, throw from Rehman to Hafeez and Henriques is out. AUS 1/13

Goneski........ PortugAussie !

ok not the same .. but AUS A has many players that have played INTL level already ..

Henriques
Ferguson
Bollinger
Tait
Krejza
Voges
White

They have all performed decent, exception Henriques, not sure what he has done..

So for the PK A team, bar Hafeez (INTL reject), Abdur Rehman and Sarfraz Ahmed .. they have not had any INTL experience..

so basically my point is AUS A SUCKS !!! :)))

Ghani and Akmal should be in squads without a doubt, especially in ODIs. We don't need Misbah and Yousuf to be playing in the ODIs.

They won the game that mattered.
this thread is about the unofficial ODI occurring as we speak (type).

past has passed!

good show by our young lads.. hopefully we will see a couple of them in the NZ and AUS tours coming up ..

Who is this Holland bloke in the Aussie team? Bowled two useless overs and is listed as a number 9 batsman in the team sheet. Looks like an absolute passenger.

This being the AUS A team that beat Pakistan A in the first class series :)))

And you managed to omit the following Pakistan A players who have also had international experience:

Wahab Riaz
Mohammed Talha
Khalid Latif

But other than your post was great ;-)

I believe Holland is the left arm spinner that Ghani and Akmal tore apart.

Young left arm spinner from Victoria. Generally if you see an Australian team with a passenger in it, that passenger will be a spin bowler :))

Over 8.4: Talha to Ferguson, no run, OUT, and you can't keep Akmal out of the game, he takes an important catch. Ferguson out, defending from the back foot and gets an edge straight to 2nd slip.. AUS 2/40

Talha gets Fergie!

40/2.

Talha gets Ferguson. Big wicket.

Cameron White is the one Pakistan need to get rid of, he can potentially do something.

Mohammad Talha 1/ 17 (5.0)

Great figures on a batting paradise for a 20 year old.

Maiden over by Masood - good comeback after conceding 11 runs in his previous over.

maaan, Is Pakistan A playing Zimbabwe A?

One of my Indian friend just sent me this text message after he saw my comment:

"How can Zimababe A be playing Sri Lanaka at Galle and Pakistan A in Brisbane at the same time?" :po:

Over 13.2: Masood to Voges, one run, nudges a quick single to cover. The throw from Latif hits the stumps at the bowlers end but Voges is home.

Over 13.3: Masood to Paine, no run, OUT, another big appeal for LBW but Umpire Reiffel again says no.

Pakistan A 3/82 (16 over)

Pakistan A 3/101 (20 over)

Pakistan A 3/111(25 over)

Pakistan A 4/168 (32 over)

Pakistan A 4/222 (37 over)

Pakistan A 6/288 (44 over)

for comparison sakes

Riaz to Voges, no run, DROPPED, in the air but dropped by Latif at cover. Voges nailed a drive, Latif was in the air to his left but just couldn't hold the catch.

Over 16.6: Riaz to Voges, no run, DROPPED, in the air but dropped by Latif at cover. Voges nailed a drive, Latif was in the air to his left but just couldn't hold the catch.

Latif further proving how useless he is :pissed:

Remember Latif and Butt opening for the U-19 team both have come a long way. One is stinking the natioal senior side the other is doing the same for the national A side

Over 19.1: Ghani to Voges, no run, OUT, and two in two balls!! Voges gone now, drawn forward and beaten perhaps by a slower ball as he has scooped it straight to point. AUS 4/85 and in big trouble.

Excellent stuff from Ghani! Chipping in with the ball as well. Australia in deep trouble 85/4

It is possible at 25 over mark...Australia will be slightly ahead of Pak at the same stage.

Then though Pakistan score 228 off 149 balls (approx 9.2 runs/over) :)

Aussies falling away after Cameron White's wicket. 8/177. Going to be a big win for Pak A. Nicely done!

MASHALLAH great win. what a game played by our boys. 339 is a big total and that too against aussie is great..... hope pak a win the series....umer akmel should be in odi for srilanka no kidding. but 1st let this tour be finished then,

To score 339 in Australia and then to win by 140-150 runs is no joke.
