Australia: Graveyard for Asian teams?

So after India won their only 6th victory in Australian soil, just checked the records of Asian countries in Australia.

Let me just say, it is atrocious!

Sri Lanka and BD (not unexpeccted) are yet to win a single test there!

Pakistan last won a test in 1995 and have lost 12 matches on a trot (Whitewashes in 1999, 2005,2010 and 2016).

India did fairly well winning 3 matches (2013 Adelaide, 2008 Perth and 2018 Adelaide) but have lost way more than they won (whitewashed in 1999-2000, 2011-12).

As compared to SA (Where Ind/ pak/ Sl have all won tests recently and England (all 3 won series there), what is so different in Australia (other than the ATG team of 1998-2007) ?

Not fair to club Bangladesh with the other Asian sides. They haven’t been given a fair run in Australia.


We are yet to know what ATG all rounder Shakib (if he doesn’t take another sabbatical) can do to the Ozzies. The Imruls and Mushfiqurs will enjoy Starc’s pace and bounce.

I think it's unfair to say "not unexpected" for SL. They have a very good LOI record in Australia and have done well in Tests in England.

I think it's unfair to say "not unexpected" for SL. They have a very good LOI record in Australia and have done well in Tests in England.

It was for Bangladesh. They only had 2 tests in Australia.

I feel if India fail to win this time, No Asian team will ever win in Australia. Next year Smith/ Warner will be back. Also, whatever I have seen, there are some good young Aussies like Head/ Harris who will be more polished by then.

SL is yet to win a Test in India too AFAIK.They are better in LOIs

Agreed. Kohli has to score 2 hundreds in this series to secure a historic victory.
