Australia tour of India 2017 [Tests]

I think it will be a draw and that will be bad for India.

Shami ruled out.

Kohli doubtful.

Shreyas Iyer called up.

Pitch has a reputation of a seamer friendly track but looks like a Aussie flat patta now.

Who will win?

Isn't this the first test at the ground? No idea what the pitch will be like. The last couple ODIs seemed to help the spinners and the "pacers" but tha twas agianst an inept NZ performance. So there's not much to tell until we get to see the pitch.

Ultimately I think the pitch will be flattened out and India will get lots of runs. I'm picking a draw.

Aussie win, or a draw. Actually have an India win as the least likely result as their bowling attack just does not seem capable of taking 20 wickets on a track without some help for the spinners. Ashwin does not seem to have turned up. Ishant does not take any wickets either. Thats 2 out of 4 not firing.

Reckon there will be something for the seam bowlers early morning in the track, which can see the Aussie bowlers expoloiting. Indian seamers don't have the ability to utilise this. Ishant is useless really, and should be dropped. Umesh Yadav only comes into play with the old ball.

Also, India are under serious pressure not to lose basically. Aussies have it all to play for as no one expected them to be in this kind of position at the beginning of the series.

Play 3 spinners if it is a flat track. Ishant should not play at all.

Ashwin/Kuldeep/Jaddu and Yadav. That should be enuf.

Ishant neither picks up wickets nor scores runs. Useless.

Iyer scored a double in the warm up game against the same Aus bowling. He is in pretty good form.

India will win if Kuldeep plays. If they decide to go with the same team, then Aus win or a draw.

Will Kohli finally do something of note in this series? He ought to after being one of the reasons that this game is a decider, the other being "Bowling Bradman" having his Bodyline series, for the second series in a row.

Kohli is most likely out for the last game.. Looks like they will bring Shreyas Iyer in

Good news for India then

Kohlis been a tailender and frankly the captaincy hasn't been much to write about either

Risky decision. Doubt much match lract

Shami has been comfortably the best indian pacer for a while now.. Assuming he is 100% fit, it's a very good news for the team.

Expect india to win and kohli to score heavily on a seam friendly wicket to shut up his critics

This is what happens when you underestimate your opponent. There is a reason why Aussies are #2.

Looking forward to this game. I think Kohli will play. The makeup of the Australian team will be interesting, there has been talk of Jackson Bird playing ahead of one of the spinners due to the pitch being likely to assist the quicks.

Don't think Shami should be risked by India.

His presence on the field is a big factor too.

i think for away matches his presence and attitude is crucial for a side like india but at home they are fine either way

Writing off the guy who has scored 4 double hundreds in a span of year is akin to wrist-slitting although expected reaction over here.. Regardless he shouldn't play if he is injured and that's the right move to bring someone else in

True. But I think his attitude was crucial for India winning the 2nd test.

No, because no one sensible bases their opinion based on 1 match.

It's not based on one match but on his whole career. Regardless, it was a question for the poster who thinks one good innings is enough to eradicate all the doubts over Kohli's ability against swing.

Kohli hopefully is in the side, his presence is highly important, he needs to be out there chirping the aussies. He is due for a big score, even a decent 40-50 would also do. His presence is enough to keep the aussies on edge, without him I see Aussie banter non stop.
I think India should go with 5 bowlers, Ishant needs to be out bring Shami in. Ashwin better pull his socks up regardless of the pitch. Rahane is a pure batsman in the side, if he doesn't score here, keep him out for a while

I would not have him play for 5 days. He should rest. Why aggravate a shoulder when exciting cricket is around the corner.

Well kohli surely had a lot of problems against swing and i have seen how pathetic he had been against england in england. However i have seen him score runs against sa on a seaming track and runs in nz. He has surely improved after that england series. I agree one match is not enough a sample size to know if someone has sorted out his problems or not but atleast scoring runs is better than not doing so. Also if he fails people will again say he can not play against swinging ball despite him not failing much against swing after the eng tour. It would also be a one match conclusion because he has been a different player since then.
Well just heard that he won't be playing so can't say anything now.

Cricket Australia applauds Australia Team efforts

Cricket Australia has congratulated the Australian men's Test team on its performance during the Qantas Tour of India.

The Chairman of Cricket Australia, David Peever, said:

"As the team arrives home over the next two days, they will find that all of Australia is immensely proud of their efforts.

“Some gave them little chance of testing the world's number one team, but instead showed resilience, adaptability and a determination to overcome the difficulties they have experienced in recent years in such conditions.

"They came very close to winning the series, but did achieve Australia's first Test win in India since 2004.

"There were many fine individual performances, but none better than those of the captain. Steve showed yet again what an outstanding leader he is becoming, and his honesty and gracious comments at the end demonstrated the qualities that Australians expect from their Test captain.

"Credit must also be given to the Bupa Support Team staff, who helped the squad prepare so well in Dubai, and then guided them through the lengthy visit.

"It was a tough series, as we expected and indeed welcome from our Indian hosts. Cricket at this level is highly competitive, and it is incumbent on all involved, players and administrators, to honour the protocols and standards of behaviour that underpin the spirit of cricket.

"As a result of this series, and the series just completed in New Zealand, Australia has finished as the number 3 ranked Test team for this international season.

“We aspire to be number 1 in all formats, so while the team's efforts in India, and across the summer following the disappointment of the first two Tests against South Africa, represent a significant improvement, we all know that we must continue to learn and develop our skills.

“We want to win major trophies, like the Ashes and the Border Gavaskar, not just at home but overseas as well.

"Our players will now take a well-earned break, before we look forward to the ICC Champions Trophy in England,” concluded Mr Peever.
