Australia vs India | 1st Test | Adelaide | Dec 6-10, 2018 | Day 4 Thread

Indian bowlers really improved..they are bowling well....good to see
Why not? Indians have out played Aussies and deserve to celebrate a win in Sena nations as it does not come often regardless if they go on to lose the series this has been a good performance not perfect or great by any means but a good comfortable win in the end.

Why not? They have out-batted the Aussies & by-far their quicks have out-bowled the likes of Starc, Hazelwood & Cummins.

This is going to be an easy draw for Australia... even I can go and bat out whole day on that placid wicket

Possibly the most delusional statement I have ever read in PP.

Disappointing that it doesn't even feel like a challenge. Apart from Finch who wasn't even out all the others didn't look interested in applying themselves much like our lower order with those soft dismissals. Having said that the bowling has been good and disciplined.

Ashwin has picked two wickets but has been below par. Bowled much better in first innings. Here he's inconsistent and not looking very threatening. Should be pucking a 5-er to win the test for us.

Aussies are 227 runs behind , enough time for India to force a win here , if not a big win

If I have learnt anything from SA and English tours, it is to not celebrate too early.

This is standard Indian performance this year, look all set to win the match, but an 8th or 9th wicket partnership will somehow leave us in the dust.

I was just going to type the same. Game is not over yet, this partnership might get em home.. :wa

One thing IND has done perfectly is controlling run rate in both innings. I think, in terms of overs, Ausdies have played more balls than I expected, but the RR didn’t help, otherwise by now, in combined innings, Ausdies should have been at least 100 closer.

Really wishing we could play the Ashes against this lot.

The last thing I want to wake up to tomorrow is Australia at 226/5.

Bumrah was disappointing today.
So was Ishant.
Good, beaten, no balls - they do not give wickets.
Keep bowling the good balls and control.
Ishant and Bumrah - when will they learn not to bowl no-balls.

On the whole, it was a good performance from Kohli - in spite of his bad selections again.

Don't do that ! :vk. That'll be the worst Monday morning in my whole entire freaking life. But I know you are good at jinxing... So :msd

He got his selection spot on in this match. Can't believe still people are criticing him.

It seems everytime we are in a decent-to-good position overnight, we suffer some sort of failure early the following morning (including this morning, mind you) so never write the opposition off when they are playing our test team.

Well, this morning we didnt lose a wicket for about 25 overs and scored nearly 85 runs before losing a wicket. Thats not a bad start. What happened once Pant got out was ridiculous. But that was later in the day.

A strong 1st session tomorrow would mean, Aus losing 2-3 wickets and scoring 80-100 runs. I will take that for India.

Vijay and rahane, despite his 2nd innings - should not be in the team.
As for bowlers, they would have been overloaded if Aus played for 100-120 overs.
A break / 5th option in the form of vihari would have strengthened both bowling and batting.
As for the opening, even the all-time-failing dhawan would score 20-30 runs.
Vijay occupies the crease, suddenly gets out and spoils the hard work of his partner.
Not that rahul is good either - atleast he has the extra gear.
Even these secondary option business would be resolved if only India had the option of playing shaw in the team - which is not possible now.

Indian can basically win the game with a good first hour tomorrow.

Australia have to win the first hour just to have the slightest chance for the rest of the day.

To me Rahane's fluid 70 has bought him another test.

I am so put off by that guy and vijay because of consistently letting the team down.
I would treat with caution any good innings from rahane as he plays 1 and fails for 4-5.

The major problem no one is taking responsibility from the 1st over, they play as if they are supposed to win. That is not right and caused downfall in the last two series.
Hope I would be proven wrong by rahane atleast. 10% reserve gas remaining.
Vijay I do not have hopes. to quote cook "the tank is empty"

The thing that is scaring me rn is that an awfully out of form Shaun Marsh has looked the most comfortable of all Aussie batsmen so far. It may just end up as his recarnative test match :dw . Especially with a resolve and gritty Paine and that lower order they have , they might as well do the improbable.
Ishant and Ashwin must Bowl better than what we saw today.

220 are too much to get when only lower order batting is alive....tail runs normally dont come in chasing.

Rahane chose reverse sweep to get out, still can't get over it.

Has he ever played that shot even at nets?

Had our lower order showed a bit of fight,we would have totally shut Aussies out of this test. Now this contest is 60-40.

Mamba Red was quite active on the first day. Won't have posted even a fraction of those posts during next 3 days.

Not really, according to the bookies it is more like 90-10.

Nothing compares to Rohit's 'shot' in the first innings. Possibly the worst shot by any specialist 'batsman' in the history of cricket.

So much for all this talk of Australia's superior domestic cricket. If it was indeed so world class, they would be churning out competent players and would not be struggling so badly due to the absence of just two players.

And we take a **** on our Pakistani team all the time

But I don't think much of Rohit, the test cricketer. However, Rahane could've been such a great test cricketer. He could still be while Rohit can't ever, this much I'm pretty sure of.

yes India are the favorites but the match is much closer than that .. but just one wicket here will change things significantly and likewise a 50-70 run partnership will put a lot of pressure back on India and they will go into run saving mode (which they should not). The key thing here is that there is lot of time for Australia and they do not have the pressure of run-rate. India should have shut out the aussies completely ... all that was needed was another hour or so of decent batting.

India should win this. Marsh is inconsistent. And Australia have a weak lower order , not to mention the conditions are perfect for Ashwin. India should win this.

the pitch is behaving well and if Aus do not lose wkts in the 1st hour the pressure will be back on India and they will not have the luxury of having fielders around the bat. The new ball is still 30+ overs away. Yes still a long way to go and India hold the upper hand but it should have been in a lot better situation than what they find themselves in right now.

As long as India keep the scoring down they will win. 1 trend I have noticed recently in tests is when batsmen have to start the next day when chasing they usually succumbe to the pressure.

India should win.

yup crucial to get wkts in the 1st hour and keep the scoring rate down. Past painful experiences where our bowlers have time and again let the lower order make merry make me nervous.

yeah, he's not deserve to play any test match after that shot...

What was the thought process behind that kind of batting in the end by India? Anyone has any clue?

India will win this by 150 + runs. But they don’t deserve respect as they are beating a weakened Australia and they never beat Aussies when Greats used to play.

Burnol shortage? LMAO. Aussie team is weakened by their own doing. who knows how long they have doing organized ball tampering. Notice Starc is useless these days? makes you wonder why.

wrong. India beat Australia when their greats used to play.
