What's new

Australia vs India | 3rd Test | Melbourne | Dec 26-30, 2018 | Day 1 Thread

Our Pakistani batsmen will show these Indian batsmen how to bat against world class bowling attack and still keep the run rate up. Vihari was 3 from 52, thats just shameful

Yeah what? Would be great if your batsmen's can survive in UAE..first...

Dumb Prasad should now bring other youngsters in as well. Subhman Gill is in screaming form.

I can only imagine what would have happened if we had gone with Agarwal, Shaw, Vihari and Gill in SA and England instead of Vijay, Rahul, Rohit, Dhawan and Rahane.

If India doesn't win this series Shastri needs to be fired and someone other than Kohli made captain.

Mayank's assured batting has shown the foolhardiness of Shastri-Kohli in persevering with Rahul & Vijay despite their repeated failures.

Hope Vijay's cricket career is over while Rahul would need to live off his IPL paychecks (or LoI's) for next few years.

Pitch seems to part of China's Belt and Road initiative

But India is not lucky enough to be part of this initiative, they can only watch Pakistan become an economic hub from OBOR with incredible high gdp growth rates, on topic though, Indian batsmen doing better than I expected, still going very boringly slow though, no wonder hardly any crowd coming to watch these tests in Australia. With Pakistan comes undpredictibility and exitement and packed crowds even in test cricket.

Whoever said pitch is a patta has not watched the match. Terribly uneven pitch. Some balls take off. Some balls just roll down.

The last 3 MCG test Aus-Pak was around 60K crowd on first day. Crowd today is 70K+ so far.

2 more wickets here and Indian tail will be there.

Not liking the uneven bounce here in 2nd session of this test itself. Aus has to bat last. It could be opposite of the last test.

Man! Too much delusion. If there is one thing Pakistan's batting in test cricket is not , it is exciting.

hahaha for your economics knowledge ,I don't want to comment on that bcz Pakistani are weak in economics otherwise they don't have to bail out their economy from imf and sell Buffalo for paycheck.
Ok now on topic, I guess you are not watching match, look at the crowd and then comment. Why always use unpredictable team, PCT should focus on becoming a good team rather than an unpredictable and weak team which got whitewash by sl and lost series to NZ.

What's wrong with buffalo trade? Buffalo's are very useful and more handsome than cows!

It's quite common in sport. You have to cop all of it and move on. If this is worse , think about the Aussie players getting abused when they play ashes in England.

Kohli always does that. He was booed in his own Delhi ground when he played for another IPL team.

Not implying that it was bad behavior from Aussies, what I meant (I wrote that in my last post) that this booing will only egg Kohli on. So from Australian cricket team's point of view, that was not good from them.

I watched the Toss and then slept cuz i knew the winner already.
Test cricket is so predictable now. Win the toss win the match.

Yes, we should be judging the wicket when both teams have played on it. But , it just looks like a road. The roads you normally associate in UAE but a bit quicker. Can't see indian seamers doing a jack on this. Only if it crumbles and brings Jadeja into play, there is a chance of a result.

This Indian side looks determined to not give wickets easily, but lacks the class to dominate. Top class bowling from Aus here. Lyon has been disappointing here with defensive bowling.

Got nothing to do with class or lack thereof. Run rates in Australia have nosedived in the last 4 years thanks to slower pitches and outfields.

Kohli not getting a double century here would be a travesty. This is an absolute road. About time ICC demerits MCG. The pitches have been horrendous over the past few years.

Can't see any other result other than an Indian win or a draw.

Nah, comment about not able to dominate is not due to this series. Indian batting is good for dominating at home, but I rarely see them with intent to dominate in calm fashion when playing away. Either it's T-20 slogs or simply defensive batting. Exception is Kohli, but that just one batsman.

That applies across the board. Apart from Williamson, Kohli and Steve Smith there are no batsmen who can dominate on slowish wickets like these.

Pat cummins has probably hit his peak. Relentless line and length bowling at pace and control. Bit like how Brett Lee was like when India toured in 2007. Infact better. Outstanding bowling.

I personally think India could have dominated with better support from openers. If both openers fail all the time then it's hard for others to play dominating innings. But I do see your point. It's the nature of pitch as well.

What a good start to wake up to, for a change.

But I'm not counting my chickens until the actual end of the innings.

Blame goes to team management , selectors. You cannot back players blindly. Selector Prasad told "Rohit sharma was picked as he has backfoot game that will suit him on australian pitches. See how dumb that sounds. He sounds like Australian bowlers cannot bowl full balls there lol

Sharma is not a good test player. Not sure why Indians keep him in contention. Slight movement and he is useless. Some younger batsmen should have been there instead of Rohit.

They are willing to move the earth to keep him in the team while much more technically sound youngsters are languishing in the domestic cricket

Bigger projects than that are taking place in India without needing the help of Chinese loan.

Their strike weapon Lyon iswicketless. That is why. He is the main difference between the teams.

He is blowing defensively rather than attacking. It was disappointing to see him start with long on on boundary ropes in first session.

Never seen an INdian team struggling against a bowler like Lyon that too in Australia. Likes of Sehwag would have smashed him around.

India have batted very well against Lyon , that is because they could not get early wickets. If you blunt new ball Lyon is no longer a threat

So , all set for a 225/3 finish at stumps.
I don't think Kohli is going to stay till the end. What a dampener of a day!!!

That is why this team will be first to win a series in India , something sehwag , tendulkars etc could not do.

Lyon normally gets on top if you don't attack. New opener today was playing some attacking shots and that made Lyon bowl defensively despite having average of below 20 against Indian in this series.

Australia should have gone for green tops , that was best chance. They were afraid of Indian bowling .

Pitch is a road but Cummins has been a treat to watch. Lyon bowling garbage but trust our superstars to give him another 5fer. Happy for Pujara, hope he converts this to a big 100.

There is no foot marks for him right now to work with and pitch isn't really turning much.

Indians? Don't tar us all with the same brush when only Shaoli are infatuated with 'The Talent'.

This match could be a draw if Aus bats simply time. This Aus team did bat 140+ overs in UAE to get a draw.

Apparently, even they wanted a green track and the curator even said that there will be assistance for fast bowlers. But the grass he has left on the wicket is dried out by constant sun beat. And now the grass will not allow the pitch to break up and cracks to form . A snoozing draw is on the way my friend.

Bowlers are tired after 2 tests. That is why Marsh is bowling a lot. In Sydney it will be even more painful

Not with the previous set of bowlers. Right now Indians are bowling as good as I have seen them bowl.

I mean with the same bowling unit they should have been 2-0. We cannot deny the fact Lyon is the diference. 16 wickets in 2 tests. Dismissed Kohli twice out of 4 times.
