"Australians have changed their DNA because of money" : Ramiz Raja

RR used to praise IPL 24/7 while he was benefiting from it till 2016. If he had so much grudges with India why didn’t he refused IPL offers ? Typical selfish opportunist individual. I used to feel sad when Pak cricketers were not part of IPL but now I am feeling it was correct. Social media has exposed real faces of Pak cricketers/singers/actors etc who used to praise India in India but we never knew how much hatred is in their hearts for us. It’s inbuilt in them. I used to buy CD’s of Jal and travel to attend live concerts, I waited 2 hours outside hotel in Delhi to get Salman Butt autograph once. Now I feel like they all fooled me in my teen years. This is sad.

Pak Cricketers\singers\actors only speak ill if they have been treated badly, the pakistani cricketers were only allowed to play in the inagural IPL before they were nothing but humiliated during the second auction, so you expect them to turn around and applaud what happened. The paksitani singers and actors are one minute treated with respect and then with complete and utter contempt the next minute. Fawad Khan who starred in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had a much bigger role but then the role was cut due to political tensions between the countries and was told to leave india and everyone from Arnab Goswami and co badmouthed him for what? because he is pakistani? What did he ever do to anyone but despite that he kept quiet, if anybody else they would be entitled to stand up for themselves or should they just accept the slap across the face? they are decent if you are decent to them but as soon as the tide turns then they are also allowed to turn as well, this is not just about India but about anyone.

Actually I have watched the interview and some of the other stuffs he said are even more hilarious.

Some gems that I recollect:

When we toured there India in 1986, Indian Public used to be scared of us. They used to say Pakistan team has arrived again to beat us.

Current Indian team adopted the approach of Pakistan and hence they are successful. Ravi Shastri was huge fan of Pak cricket and he instilled that Pak aggressive mindset in team India.

IPL players weren't humiliated. India was humiliated when pcb refused to sent Pakistan players for ipl 2009. Multiple franchises lost key players.

**. Dont spread lies. Pak players themselves didnt participate in 2009 IPL as they were stopped by PCB.

Ramiz Raja is going after everyone in the game who has slighted us and *about damn time*.

Long may it continue.

You are going to stop belng "slighted" if you improve. Pakistan has the second biggest population of cricketing nations. It can be the most favored destination after India if it improved its economy and security.

For the head. of cricket board to suggest that Australian players do not try hard enough because they want IPL contracts is essentially saying that they are similar to match fixers.

Throwing a childish temper tantrum after being "slighted" will only lead to others dismissing you even more.

Can understand the Pakistani fans eagerness to believe his comments. For a team who has disgracefully not managed to draw a match there in the last two decades, it must hurt as hell to see the rivals win two series on the trot against the Aussies. This is a very nice coping mechanism.

I think because there is such a big rift between Pakistan and India Ramiz is trying to poison the relationship Australia and India have. A lot of Pakistan supporters hate India so much they also hate anyone that does have a good relationship with India even to their own detriment.

For RR and his boss IK, if India is doing something better than Pakistan there must be a nefarious explanation.

So can people tell me what Ramiz raja is supposed to do? Pakistan has been screwed over by teams recently and in the past but they should continue to ne nicey nicey, they have been nice in the past clearly it doesnt work, give back as good as you get.

He should make a statement that Pakistan beat India this wc or he will resign.

Lol he has lost his mind, in 1985 final India beat Pakistan lol

'give back as good as you get', do you think any of the boards are actually hurt by his drivel?

It's insanely immature of someone of Ramiz Raja's stature to think all this talk will make any positive difference to the PCB and Pakistan cricket. In that position he's a diplomat looking out for the best for his team, he's not a commentator who's wages are paid on the basis of the words that come out of his mouth!

Ramiz should put a plan in place for what the PCB do next and choose his time and place to drive in the sabre! Right now he's just shooting from the hip.

2 decades ago the 3 boards and players made most of their wages on the basis of teams touring their country, Not anymore. Pakistan will lose a lot more in not being able to host England, NZ, Australia not touring them than the other way round, that is a fact!

He's won a lot of brownie points lately but being the voice of the public's frustrations.

BUT the role he's stepped into, it requires him to play the long game and be the bigger man. Right now he's failing to do that.

Talk about NZ or Eng. Why talk about India?

Yeah those countless bruises on Pujara after the Gabba test, the fractured arms and wrists of Mohammad Shami and Jadeja which made them leave the tour midway, the countless bumpers Indian batsmen took to their head - those were all just illusions right.

Aus v anyone other than India is a different team. Against India there is a line they do not cross as they are worried about their IPL Contracts, so less trash talk... including older players as they all have vested interests. Quality of Australian player is lower now than before but attitude is also different sadly. Just because they bowled bumpers and players got injured does not mean they keep focused as they did before.

He spoke the truth. Even many cricket writers are saying the same, players are running for money rather than Int cricket, this is nothing new.

IPL can only pay so much because India has 1.3 billion people and cricket is their main sport. If Sri Lanka or Nepal had the same population with cricket as main sport, they would have the most paid league. It doesnt mean India is some great nation of sport.

Why do you think ind stop playing series with pak? The indians looked at the bigger picture and knew that the trajectory pcb was goin at it would be 2nd strongest board in a decade, it had nothing to do with other reasons.

I actually like what the pcb are doin, mouthin off and embarassing the ecb/acb for being toothless against the bcci.

You know when they say "you are history" it is not a compliment. Learn to live in the present.

Sure, head to head Pak is better than India. Not sure why Indian fans think they are a superpower & some great sporting nation, its the opposite. Australia on the other hand are a great sporting nation but their cricket is also being ruined by money.

Maybe in 50 years Indian will be playing India B once a week in T10 cricket.

You may be correct. India's excuse was an attack in Bombay in 2008 but some of their fans forget Pak were invited & played in India after this.

What is PSL? Nothing but a low-budget, cheap imitation of IPL. After 6 years, it can barely attract 3-4 top contemporary players and most of them only show up for half of the tournament anyway.

Comparing IPL to PSL is like comparing a Ferrari to an auto rickshaw.

PCB is the most “rondu” board out there. It is always crying about something.

After PCB’s stunt backfired in 2009 and Pakistani players were rightfully banned from IPL, PCB cried about Pakistani players not getting picked in IPL.

That crying subdued after PCB came up with PSL, but then they started doing “rona dhona” over India not playing Pakistan in bilateral cricket.

After getting humiliated in the courts, then they started a new topic to cry about. This time, it was the big teams like Australia, England, New Zealand not touring Pakistan.

Now that those teams have refused to play in Pakistan because of the foreign policy of the government of Pakistan and the starring role that it played in the resurgence of a Taliban as the central power in Afghanistan, PCB has started crying again.

Now this crying has has spilled over to the IPL again and we are doing wailing over why Australia has gone soft against India.

In life, change is the only constant. However, there is also another constant - PCB always finding something to cry about.

No one takes Pakistan/PCB seriously, no one likes Pakistan/PCB, everyone is annoyed to death by us, the last thing any cricketer wants to do is to play in Pakistan.

If we overcome our delusions, give up our self-righteous attitude and get out of this fantasy world that we have painted in our heads, we will realize that we are the problem.
You have so much hatred against Pakistan. Don’t see even a die hard Indian fan doesn’t hate us that much. You should be in those Indian forums where they burst hatred against us 24/7.

Rameez is spot on. I wasnt a huge supporter of rameez when he landed the job, but it is good to see him being upfront and blunt about his views which are frankly shared with a good portion of the cricketing fraternity.

For people who are citing last aus/ind series where there were a couple of “sledges” from Aussies, are probably too young to have seen Aussies of the 90s and 00s. This is the most spineless aussie team ever.

People saying why is rameez burning the bridges, what bridges are left after the abandoned tours? He rightly pointed out the western block of nations have an axe to grind (whatever their reasons are). Australia last toured during mark Taylor’s time and I fairly sure 90% of the PP folks haven’t seen that series live.

Also the Indian contingent is out in full flow, as can be understood. Indian Guys commenting on Pakistani cricket forums claiming that bcci doesn’t care about Pakistan or it’s cricket — I have heard that before — yet documented evidence has shown bcci and the Bakht govt that backs it, constantly does it’s best to sabotage any positive from our country let alone cricket. So guys quit this holier than thou attitude, will you.

The cricket is going to loose in the end, if the current scenario continues, there is going to be no game of cricket in the next 20 years. Indians with all their superiority complex and false beliefs that money can buy everything, would come to their senses after the game reaches the point of no return.

The only way cricket can be saved if ALL politics is instantly disassociated from the game. Teams should br banned/fined if they let decisions be based on politics regardless of their status. Australia has a concept of “mateship” which should be introduced in cricket, all cricketing teams and nations have that collective responsibility of saving the game. We can only save it if we practice “reciprocity”

Blah.

Save the game by playing it well, not be at the mercy of *all the other* teams for yourself to qualify in *almost all* ICC events; and not showing up when touring outside Pak, even against a Windies side which picked up a cricket bat two full moons ago for the first time...

If only Pak players had half of this aggression ON A CRICKET FIELD...

Although few sane voices among Pak fans, lots of puerile degrading comments against India outcomes against other nations.

At least Pak players are unblemished by IPL money rite, lets see how they play in WT20, if they win even one match against NZ, Ind or Eng then I will stop posting here.

India stopped playing because the govt banned it. There is a official ban from the government of India and that was proven at the ICC DRC. That's why PCB had to pay 1.5mn to BCCI.

You may be correct. India's excuse was an attack in Bombay in 2008 but some of their fans forget Pak were invited & played in India after this.

And there was a border incident 1 day after the series ended and the then government was heavily cricticized for its pro pakistan outlook and they are since out of power.

Ramiz Raja is sophisticated version of Shoaib akhtar. He is very much a believer in the Jigra, Jazba , Daleri school of cricket

So you play after a major terrorist attack blamed on Pak, with your golden dossier but stop because of a border clash? lol

Pakistan are poor at sports too. I live in the UK, we have the best sporting culture on the planet, so makes no difference to me. :)

Like how he subtly talks semantics about some trivia while pushing in the pakistan poor at sports too, no biggie. but HIS cultures fine. Was HIS board demonstrating the best sporting culture bla bla bla while it SHEEPIsly cancelled the Pakistan tour? Oh I forgot, probably doesnt make a difference to him.

I think it's other way around. Since Ganguly, indians have changed their DNA to match Aussie aggressiveness and respond in equal manners, they are no more meek and laid back!

Really? Why would anyone believe that the sporting culture of the UK is superior to that of the US, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil etc.?

That is very true. With economic liberalization Indians are much more focussed on performance, and sifarish has been downgraded.

Also, a million dollar IPL contract changes the entire way a sportsman approaches his profession, the hard work he puts in to get better, and the confidence with which he plays on the field.

I think it's other way around. Since Ganguly, indians have changed their DNA to match Aussie aggressiveness and respond in equal manners, they are no more meek and laid back!
This. Instead of Aussies changing their DNA and the way they play, it's us who have changed how we approach our cricket, especially against Aussies. And that shows in our results against Aussies during the last 2 decades.

Contrast this with how Pakistan has taken their cricket against Australia and it also shows in their results against Aussies during last 2.5 decades.

Against India there is a line they do not cross as they are worried about their IPL Contracts, so less trash talk
lol, this is funny!

So trash talk is required to succeed in cricket? You learn something new every day!

Wasn’t Ramiz commentating in IPL until 2015-2016?

Where was his patriotism and pride? Why was he commentating in a league that was apparently “discriminating” against Pakistani players by banning them?

I want Ramiz to shed some light on his own DNA.

So basically an Indian bootlicker of the past is now the voice of patriotic Pakistanis after India stopped feeding him? :faf

Something very absurd about the chief of Pakistani cricket, who just got dinged by England and NZ, accusing Australian players of lack of integrity when they play India. Way to go RR, you will surely improve relations with others.

If you are in a hole, stop digging!

I somehow feel Rameez has to criticize India to hold his post. Because his views on Indian win were very different when it happened. Just take a look at some of his comments in his "vlogs".

"I have gone to Australia 7-8 times. We probably won a one-day tournament once there or we won the World Cup, but that was not against Australia. It was an impossible scenario to beat Australia at that time. Even their B team used to be mentally so strong, they used to stand up and challenge us," said Ramiz Raja.

"We used to be shellshocked as a team about how we will get back from the situation. We never felt like that playing against West Indies, England or India. So considering that, I rate this victory very highly. Because we under Imran used to consider ourselves a great team, but we could not crack that code," concluded Ramiz Raja.

Certain sections of Pakistan ministers and former cricketers have also pointed fingers at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for cancellation of tours by NZ and Eng.

A top BCCI official recently refuted allegations made by while speaking to ANI. The senior official clarified that the Indian board has absolutely nothing to do with the cancelation of the two tours. He added that the BCCI has no time to indulge in such activities.

"We wish Ramiz Raja good luck and hope that Pakistan cricket reaches new heights under him. We want to clear one thing that the BCCI has no role in the cancelation of England and New Zealand tours to Pakistan.”

He was also unimpressed with PCB chief Ramiz Raja for targeting Australian players for their participation in the Indian Premier League. While the official empathized with Pakistan, he pointed out that there was no need to drag India into such matters regularly, especially when there is no evidence.

"We don’t have time for all this…And also, I don’t know why some ex-Pakistan players are cursing the IPL (Indian Premier League) for no reason? I read somewhere that Raja said that the Aussie players have even changed their DNA for the sake of the money they make by playing in the IPL. He accused Aussies of playing happily against India without their usual aggressive approach.“Now from where the IPL came here? What kind of frustration is that? We understand that you are feeling bad but there is no need to drag India everywhere.” said the BCCI official.

While in-form Australian quick Mitchell Starc is keeping his focus on the final Test of The Ashes series later this week, the jam-packed 2022 schedule is beginning to creep up on him.

Starc is one of a host of Aussie stars who play in all three formats, and with a hectic year on the horizon, questions are beginning to be raised about their availability.

After the final game agaisnt England in Hobart, Australia will host both New Zealand and Sri Lanka in white-ball series, before heading to Pakistan in March for both Tests and ODIs.

Many players will also have their eye on the IPL in April, while Australia will also tour Sri Lanka in June and July, before hosting the T20 World Cup later in the year.

Australia will then host NZ and South Africa next summer in Test series on home soil, capping off a ridiculously busy 12 months.

That's just about as jam-packed as you can get, and it could see players pick and choose where they opt to play - especially those multi-format players like Starc, Pat Cummins and David Warner.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Starc was quizzed on his availability for the upcoming year and the left-arm quick remained non-committal, and admitted he is yet to decide whether he will play in the IPL.

“It's taken a while for that question to come up," he said.

"I’ve got two days to get my paperwork in, so that might be something I do today before training. I've not put my name down just yet, but I've got a couple more days to decide on that.

"It's certainly on the table, regardless of what the schedule has got coming up I haven’t been for six years or so. With a heavy weighting towards T20s over the last period of time and the World Cup coming up later this year, that's one to take into consideration as well.

“There is obviously a bit going on with scheduling and whatnot to get our heads around, certainly with us multi-format players. The schedules are quite jam-packed when you throw in all the tours, and we've got a couple of white-ball series post The Ashes before that Pakistan tour.

"Then you take in consideration the IPL, then a Sri Lanka tour after that. It's a massive six months of cricket for everyone, but certainly for those multi-format players.

"We had a bit of a briefing the other day about the upcoming tour, I think that gives time for all players to process that information.

"Obviously we've got a Test match this week to play and perform in, and then then we'll move on to what comes next. We’ll move on to the white-ball series and Pakistan tour after that."

Australia are up 3-0 in The Ashes after four games, with the Sydney Test ending a thrilling draw as England were able to hold on.

With the final match moved to Blundstone Arena for a pink-ball clash, Starc is looking to contribute once again - if the selectors pick him to play.

“I’m feeling good...obviously we've had a couple of days now to get ready for the fifth Test match," he said.

"We're training tonight and hopefully it's not my turn to rest, but I'll be looking forward to this week no matter what.

“It's really up to the selectors – I'm not looking for a break. It's the last Test match of an Ashes series at home and it’s the pink ball too.

"I'd very much like to play – I guess it's in the hands of selectors, but I won't be asking for rest."

The 31-year-old has been in strong form during the series, taking 15 wickets across the four games, including a four-wicket haul in Adelaide during the other pink-ball Test.

Starc admitted he is yet to reflect on his performances against England, but is happy to be playing his role in every game and contributing to victories for his country.

“I haven't really reflected on it as yet," he said.

"We sit here going into the last Test and we are 3-0 up, but we'd like to obviously make that 4-0 this week. In terms of the series personally, I don't know - I probably tend to have a little bit of a reflection at the end of series not through the middle of it.

"I'm just happy to be playing my role and contributing to this group to put us in positions that are hopefully going to get us to a win. It's been nice to contribute in that way, being there throughout the four Tests as well, as one of the senior fast bowlers and to work along with Patty (Cummins).

"The bowlers that have come into the group have performed from the get-go, they’ve played their role fantastically. Scotty’s been sensational through obviously Melbourne and Sydney.

"It’s nice to play my part and hopefully I can do that if I if I play again this week, and then we can sit back at the end and I can reflect personally, and we can reflect as a group as well."

The other part of Starc's game that has been a highlight this summer is his batting, scoring 151 runs at an average of 75.5 and remaining not-out on three occasions.

“I haven’t changed anything – maybe hitting more balls, I'm not sure," he said.

"Alyssa (Healy) has been laughing at me because she's seen I've been hitting a lot more and obviously spending a bit more time in the middle, so she's taking the mickey out of me there a bit with how much I've been batting at training. Whether that is paying off, I guess in a way it has been.

"I think our lower-order has always taken pride in being able to contribute with the bat…I think we all like to think we can contribute with the bat in some ways. For me, it's just been carrying on that and whether Pat now wants to change the order with eight and nine now, we’ll wait and see.

"We have sort of started that conversation about where we're both going to bat, and we both want to bat No.9 I think. He is the captain after all, so we'll see how that pans out this week.

"In terms of my batting, it helps when one of my best mates owns a cricket academy back in Sydney. I've done a fair bit of work with him, obviously we've got Michael Di Venuto with us at the moment, who has been fantastic and I did a lot of work with him when he was in his first stint as a batting coach.

"Since he's come back, working with him and Andrew McDonald I have just had a clear game-plan – technically I haven't changed anything since the World Cup in 2019, where I was doing a little bit of work with Ricky Ponting, which seemed to have put me in some good positions as well.

"It's more about just getting some time at training and then in the middle, but having clear plans is what I'm trying to achieve."

Australia will take on England for the final time this summer on Friday, with the pink-ball Test beginning at 3pm AEDT.

Signs of Australia's schedule squeeze are already showing but chair of selectors George Bailey knows the answer isn't asking players to sit out the lucrative IPL.

David Warner and Mitch Marsh, arguably Australia's two most important match-winners in last year's Twenty20 World Cup triumph, have been rested from next month's T20 series against Sri Lanka.

Coach Justin Langer will also be absent throughout the five-match series on February 11-20, when Andrew McDonald will instead take the reins at the SCG, Manuka Oval and MCG.

There were fears that selectors could be forced to pick separate squads for those white-ball games and the ensuing three-Test series in Pakistan, which starts on March 3.

That has not transpired, while Bailey noted on Tuesday that no player has come forward yet to make themselves unavailable for the landmark tour of Pakistan.

Australia's multi-format stars nonetheless face a busy stretch, with the multi-format Pakistan trip to be followed by the IPL, a Test tour of Sri Lanka then a home T20 World Cup and summer of Test cricket.

There are also a number of series Cricket Australia (CA) still have marked as 'postponed' including home white-ball matches against New Zealand, Zimbabwe and West Indies.

Mitchell Starc has opted out of next month's IPL 'mega auction', when the addition of two new franchises is expected to result in record salaries.

But Test captain Pat Cummins and Warner are expected to be some of the most in-demand players at this year's IPL, which falls during Australian players' leave period.

"It's tough for the multi-format guys to work out that balance of where do they get time to physically replenish their energy reserves, particularly for fast bowlers," Bailey said.

"To make sure they are fit, strong and able to deal with the workload.

"But that's part and parcel of a modern cricketer's life.

"It (the IPL) continues to be a tournament that offers a huge amount to players.

"From a learning perspective and I don't think the monetary side of things can be discounted ... for a reasonably brief period of work, the pay days are pretty enormous for a certain percentage of them."

Bailey added the chance to work with different coaches and the world's best players was another obvious upside as Australia attempt to defend their T20 crown on home soil in October.

"That's a terrific opportunity," he said.

CA is expected to make a call on the future of Langer in coming weeks, with his current contract set to expire soon after the tour of Pakistan.

CA is also yet to rubber stamp the side's first visit to Pakistan since 1998.

"I believe the boards are still working through some of the minor details around that tour. Once that gets the formal tick of approval, we'll announce the squad," Bailey said.

"The two (security) briefings that I've sat in on, the security sounds very, very robust."
